Trapped
I am a foreigner in this forsaken world.
With every step deeper into it
my feet break layers of grey dust
revealing spots no one has walked on for ages.
Black and white pictures on blown away
newspapers tell me yesterday’s news.
Flaking off poster print forms windows
on locked doors, allowing me a glance into the past.
Walls of sad and unfriendly brick stones
Prevent me from continuing my journey.
Barricaded houses, reaching up high, tilt slightly
into my direction, hiding the distant sun.
I stand still and breathe in the dry air,
here at the end of a dead end street.
Wer kennt sie nicht, die Einbahnstraße.
Ein Anflug von Melancholie entlockte mir diese Verse.
