National Walk For Epilepsy (USA)
The National Walk for Epilepsy will be held in Washington, DC at the National Mall on Saturday, March 31, 2007.
It will begin with a pre-walk rally at 8:45 am through 9:15 am. The actual walk will kick off at 9:30 am and the estimated finish time is 11:00 am.
This event will host a landmark event in the United States epilepsy movement:
The first National Walk for Epilepsy Awareness: Not another moment lost to seizures.
This is a 5K, noncompetitive walk to raise funds for research, treatment, and educational programs for people with epilepsy and their caregivers. An expected 5,000 walkers will participate, and at least as many will do so online. Greg Grunberg, the star of NBC’s Hereos, will serve as chairman of this event. Greg and his wife, Elizabeth, have a ten-year-old son, Jake, who has epilepsy. This National Walk will engage people who are doctors, government leaders, and health organizations committed to finding a cure as well as the general public to help raise awareness of the misconceptions of this illness.
The Walk will begin on Constitution Avenue, NW at 10th Street and end on Jefferson Drive between 4th and 7th Street.
