hey guys.
i just wanted to know who's using a joystick
- for plane flying,
- for chopper flying in bf2?
In comparison to keyb./mouse:
What are your feelings concerning line-up precision and rapidity for shooting with plane guns or chopper rockets? Maneuvrability of aircraft? Bombing runs?
What bf2 settings do you use in your aircraft/chopper options (pitch, yaw, roll, ...)?
I personally use keyb./mouse for everything. Is it worth it to buy a joystick for flying? Which model?

ÔK im using a jostick but only for plane not for choppper.
The Conversion from keyb./mouse to joystick is very hard you need time to learn flying with joystick, but later when you can fly joystick is much better than mouse keyb.
Actually im not so good when i must hit something with the gun, but flying with joystick is very coool.

I do the same thing what Biathlon does...
Fly with a joy in a jet, mouse/keyboard in chopper.

I use only the keyboard when i`m in the jet or heli. mouse controll in jet or heli suxx :D
But i know that very good pilots use a joystick. maybe when i get better in the jet i will buy a joystick, too. :lol:

as far as i have to say, me in an f35 against a "normal" j10 pilot, i have no chance in dogfighting at least with keyb/mouse. maybe with joystick i would fare better???
the only way i can down a j10 currently is by getting on his tail first,enticing his flares and then with a full salvo of missiles hitting him the necessary 2 times for a kill. hopefully he isn't turning to sharply ...
if it's a really bad pilot just shoot him down with guns in bomb mode.
personally i would think that maybe machine gunning with mouse could be more precise and faster, but on the other hand maneuvrability of aircraft in dogfighting with power/afterburner control is surely easier with joystick. also the buttons on the joystick would surely help with external views and other important stuff.

Everything you said in your post I can confirme. To fly a plane it is 100% better to use a joystick. My advice to you is to get one and map the buttons similarly to the commands from the bf2s website...
After about 4-5 hours of practicing on an empty server you will FEEL the difference (view modes are so much help evading enemies and their missiles!!!)

I use keyboard only to fly the jet and chopper and I find it alright. I can score 50 kills in a round in j10 if I stay in it all game I very rarley get shot down usually I die because of lagg and crash, or hitting into the destroyed chopper I just killed.
Ive never felt the need to get a joystick, and anyway i cant because my friends will laugh at me if I had one on my desk.

yeah lag or anti-virus pop-up are also my usual cause of death when flying j10. also when my damn graphic problem surfaces i usually bite the dust as i can't see shit anymore.

Well, I fly heli and jet only with keyboard and have been pwning europe's best BF2 jet flyers, but what u like > it's just what u are used too. :)

I wanted to know who you beat in a jet because I know a few of the good fighters, so I was wondering. No ofense but your characters stats arnt exactly impressive, if you only have 5 hours in jet you can hardly be a top fighter.

Well to be honest, I didn't played all my BF2 on this way. I've been playing this since the beginning, but I only bought my legit BF2 on january '07. As a player who played all time legit, won't understand how big the cracked network of BF2 is. There are hundreds of cracked server, all ranked on an alternative ranking system. It is like just normal BF2, but on a diffirent network. Against those top jet fighters, who play legit since recently I''ve been playing and ownd several of them.
But the problem is with normal online play that people teamkill you, place vehicles in front of u, shoot with AT rockets, crash to you in the air, move their in heli in front of your noose and much much more.

and where is this alternative ranking system and legit servers. I didnt know there was another system in BF2. The only one I know is public ranked servers and private unranked servers (which are just used for practice and have no ranking system)

take a look at e.g. bfstats.info
Just a small network, but it's an good example.
There are a lot of server groups with their own ranking system, they're private ranked.

Tried to play with the joystick, but i ****.
Got to practice more offline.
I only fly with keyboard. The major problem i have flying with the keyboard is to hit hely's with the Machine guns.
Bombing i think its the same.
