I got an email from him today - he was answering the fan questions. Do you even remember them? lol
Now here is what he was emailing me:
Q: I have been told that wolf/dogs should not be owned by a women because
of their temperament - they say they need a strong hand. Is this true.

Jay... It's true most Wolves or Alpha Dogs need a strong Alpha male to
look up to. Both Wolves and dogs need rules and boundaries to behave
the way we want them to but a strong Alpha female could also be a great
leader as in most house holds a female dog will always end up the Alpha
dog given enough time. just as in the wild a Alpha female will be only
second in command to the Alpha male. In Indian tradition females were
the decision makers and the male warriors carried out the duties
assigned to them. ?
Q: A lot of people do not think that "Indians" exist. That they are
something created by Hollywood. What is Jay´s thought about it?
Jay... It's true that the early Americans tried to wipe out the red
race as harsh as it seems now but although most tribes were displaced
and many of them were not allowed to carry out their sacred ceremonies
somehow the spirit of the American Indian survived and to this day
nothing has crushed it. Yes, out of Millions of Indians who lived in
America in the 1500's only a few hundred thousand survived by 1890's
the end of the Indian wars but now days there are 560 federal
recognized tribes in USA and some of the largest are the Navajo's and I
would say full blooded Indians are more rare but there are a few
million mixed Indians who are still living in USA. It's true that the
false image of Indians was created by Hollywood but you won't see me
play one of them any day soon... LOL>
Q: When you are on a set for a production like ?Into the West?, do you
have time to get in contact with the other actors?
Jay... While we are filming any film you become like a family and some
of the actors you stay in touch with for a long time after but the
magic of film making is that you spend a few months being lovers,
friends or family on film and the feelings we create to tell the
stories stay with us long after the film is done. There are only a had
full of Indian actors in the world who are star names and I think I
have know all of them and have worked with most.
Q: Do you see yourself more than a ?latin? actor or a ?native? actor?
Jay... Good question, I see myself as a citizen of Earth and I come
from a mixed background but in my heart I look at the World as an
Indian and care for Grandmother Earth and all it's inhabitants. I am a
shape shifter and I change with each role to become something else to
tell the story as best as I can. I have played Latin, European, Middle
Eastern, as well as Indian roles and although many of my recent roles
have been Native roles they are all different from each other. It's
like calling all the folks from Europe the same when we know a German
is different from French or English but they all live on the same land
mass. Well not England as they are Islanders but I think you get my
meaning. Each tribe has similar traditions but they are different
nevertheless in many aspects.
Q: Will you come to the festival in Germany?
Jay... I love Germany and have been there may times before. I was last
in Berlin several years ago for the festival where Cold Mountain was
the opening film and the Missing was also in competition there. I enjoy
the German people and the fact they are so into Indian culture shows a
deep love for other races which I appreciate.

wow.. thats cool. he leally realized that germans are into other culturs - most of them^^ - and not metioned our bad history. I think this is a good sign. hopefully I get informed early enough when he's coming to the Berlinale. Because then I'll be there too :twisted:

From everything I've ever read about Jay or seen his answers - he is very much into life. He seems to really appreciate everything and his fans more than others do. If this makes sense.

oh, it makes sense - he´s very grateful for the love the fans do show to him and he cares a lot. Be for sure that he is really reading your messages and whenever his time permits he will drop a line for his fans ...
