Dear all!
Thanks to Georg we have a forum now!
Maybe we can structure it in topics (as organization, financial, creative, etc...) so that we can post relative messages...
Oh!
I'm so happy about this!

hajime_fujita_2006 - 28.01.2007, 22:31PAF ideas.
hello valentina and dancewebbers...
first of all, sorry i haven't had a chance to write much, but just to let
you know that i am totally behind these residencies and will do what i
can...
hajime and i met this week and discussed about PAF and SKITE and here are
our main questions/points:
*we felt that before getting too focused on trying to define or predict the
future working philosophies of sweet and tender, we should channel our
energies first into preparing ourselves for PAF, and of course agreeing on
some simple and flexible guidelines in which the group will function. After
this first residency, we feel that this network will gain so much more
strength and clarity, but for now, let's try and have a concrete identity
for funding bodies, but to keep it simple, until we meet altogether.
*we thought that the idea of undertaking residencies based on the
historical/cultural/social particulars of a place could be very interesting
for many projects, but we are worried that this 'theme' could be limiting
for those in the group that do not want to make work like this.
we are an international group, who bring with us many different
perspectives, is this not enough? we don't want to be limited into having to
make work about a 'place', if it is not how our professional interests
transpire. anyway, once again, maybe it's just about wording this, so that
it is a flexible enough. however we understand that especially for residency
at PAF, their interest is in supporting artists will help to promote their
history
*we are still confused about the funding details. especially for hajime and
i who are not in the EU. how does this affect things? is it simply a matter
of seeking individual funding from our home countries? if so, what should we
ask for? travel expenses? i understand that you are trying to raise the
money for the space of the residency. as non-EU people can we do more? how
much money do we need to get together?
*also i intend to ask CNDC if they could be a potential partner
organisation, but i don't have a clear enough understanding of what we are
doing yet, so i want to talk more to them when it is more clear for me.
should i mention anything specifically? should i put them in contact with
jan ritsema or valentina for further information?
ok, so that's about it for now. giddy up!
tim and hajime.

Dear Tim and Hajime!
I agree we have to decide how to organize the time in PAF. However I don't know how specific (especially on a creative level) we can be, because we have no real experience of working together..
I'm thinking to focus more on the structure (especially for the EU_grant) mainly to allow difference to coexist and possibly be a resource. So one can also come to S&T and work on a solo because he/she has no desire to collaborate. Others will want to collaborate..but I'd like it to be open and lack a specific artistic identity.
So the idea of having a 'theme' related to the place was only a possibility to find not an identity but a tread to follow..
I was talking to Lucie about another possibility: a 'theme' or tread could be the 'group' idea.. since even in PAF we will still be discussing and defining our 'organisations' it could be interesting to work on the 'group dynamics' changes that goes with that..but I think this idea/proposal still
needs to be clarified and elaborated better, but if anyone finds it valuable can just propose more!
For funding stuff:
I will need to get more info about how to deal with non EU costs, but I think something you could do is to give me the contacts of the associations or funding bodies that can support you (for example last year fo danceweb). I can try to find out if it is possible to make some direct agreement between us as an organisation and them, or if you have to apply as individuals...
CNDC is the one in Angers? It'd be very nice to have them as partners..
I am trying to put together a dossier which any of us can have as supporting material to propose to possible partners... but I guess it'll be ready in at least another week..so maybe send me the details of who would be a good person to contact there..just in case, otherwise I'll send you the dossier when it's ready and you can go!
Let me know!
Kisses!
Valentina
