Two days before Chrismas, J.K.Rowling released the title of the last installment of the Harry Potter series due to be published in 2007 or 2008. It will be Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
8 hours after www.amazon.co.uk offered the opportunity to pre-order "Deathly Hallows", the book topped the amazonUK sales chart and still does.

We have a release date for the last Harry Potter book! The UK and US edition of "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" will be out on July 21, 2007. Along with the book, the British publisher Bloomsbury will release the audio book, read by Stephen Fry, on the same date!
This has been announced rather plainly on JK Rowling's web site on Thursday, February 2, 2007. The fandom now seems to be waiting for a more personal from Jo which is expected to be released in the form of another blog entry on her site in the next days or weeks.
Also, it has been confirmed that JK Rowling finished "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" on January 11, 2007 and at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh. She scrawled a message on a marble bust, which is believed to be of the Greek God of thieves and Olympic messenger Hermes, in the very hotel room she wrote the last scenes of the eagerly awaited book. The message reads as follows:
"JK Rowling finished writing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in this room (652) on 11th Jan 2007."
The hotel has been quoted in saying that they don't want to turn room 652 into a "tourist shrine". A picture of the message can be seen on the galleries of both www.the-leaky-cauldron.org and www.mugglenet.com.
