everybody who knows him, was telling me that he is such a nice guy and that nobody ever would have to stay away from him ... lol ... heīs talking to the people - taking his time and is listening carefully - so whatīs the problem? Only thing that would impress me, might be the fact that he must be VERY tall. I donīt know ... my brother is the same height and I donīt think heīs tall (plus heīs my "little" brother-lol). Well, I donīt know ... letīs talk about it, after I met Michael hopefully one day - lol - probably NOT

    Re: News

    newnativspirit - 20.01.2007, 14:04

I thought Iīve already put it up here, but Idril said I didnīt. Some of you might have found it on the website already, but because I got asked for it several times, here it is now - sorry it took me that long

Thanks to Nadja for her wonderful report on what she experienced at the AIFF meeting actor Michael Spears !!! As I already told you, Nadja, next year we will be going there together !!!

As I entered the Palace of Fine Arts, I first entered a huge lobby where various Native artists from all over America introduced their arts and crafts. As I proceeded I couldn't believe my eyes as I saw Michael Spears standing against a wall of posters towards the back of the lobby. I immediately recognized him as his majestic appearance and charisma blend him into a person that can't be unnoticed besides he is also quite tall. This evening he wore jeans, a white dress shirt and a black sacco. His style was classy and jet a bit casual. His hair was braided to the back and I was amazed how shiny and silky his hair looked. As I walked towards him I just said: "Hi Michael".
As he is a very unusually attractive and popular young man I was astounded how natural and friendly he responded to me as he asked me "What's up ?” and looked at me with his brown cat eyes. I already started sweating and tried to fight my nervousness but thanks to Michael's calm demeanor quickly felt much calmer as well. He shook my hand and I thought "What a strong and warm hand". "Are you familiar with Anne Schroeder from NewNativeSpirit ?", I asked. He looked a bit puzzled and after intense thinking replied: "It sounds kinda familiar to me." It really rang a bell to him however as soon as I mentioned his old website with his fanforum in it. That quickly put a grin on his face. So I gave him a flyer of NNS which he studied very carefully."That's pretty cool, I will definately get in touch with NNS." Since Michael has a large fan population I had to tell him the following:"Your fans really are dieing to ear from you, you should see what is going on at the website, they just love you." He nodded at me with a playful smile as though he already knew what's up.Then he told me that he is still working on his CD, sometimes he has to go to castings, exhibitions and other events on top of that he also travels with his father a lot, to support him with the "Native Energy" project. Sometimes there is not much time to sleep. Once an event is over, the next one already waits. Almost daily, he has to travel to a different city, not seldom early in the morning.
I personally don't know just where this guy gets all of his energy from. Michael is a good listener. He kept eye contact with me which made me feel like I had his full attention."Well, I came to San Francisco to check it out, you know?", he said and laughed."Yes, I said, Frisco can be quite a cool city." As I approached his initiative to protect the environment, he decided to introduce his father to me. Patrick Spears struck me as a robust man, a serious businessman who would put his hands in the fire for his boys. Immediately he recognized the NNS flyer and said to Michael: "Hey, that's the lady from the website I was telling you about." Now, I guess there are no more misunderstandings what NNS is. For a picture of us all together, the two men thought they should place me in their middle. At first however we confusedly danced around each other, trying to find the right spot. This cracked Michael up! During the entire weekend I noticed Michael laughing much and often enjoying the company of different people. Before I left the awards, I once more approached Michael who draws a croud wherever he is. I acknowledged his talents and encouraged him: "Keep going, keep delighting us with your presence." He seemed touched and gave me a big bear hug. I was mesmerized because I never thought that this man could give such a gentle and warm hug. It seemed obvious that Michael appreciates his fans.

To those who were asking me about Michaelīs MySpace profile, which is still up ... although itīs said on his website, that he is not on MySpace:

Eddie said that they never had any sites on MySpace, nor will they have some in the future!

So, go ahead and delete those fake profiles from your friend lists!

Thanks for solidifying that. I asked at imdb in regards to Eddie's and a lovely lady mysteresoleil (I think I've seen that name here) exlained that it wasn't Eddie. I'm still wondering why it's up - couldn't Eddie or his manager ask to have it taken down. Not a fan of myspace and this is one reason why - too many fakes (kinda sucks for the fans who believe it is them though and disrespectful).

    Re: News

    newnativspirit - 17.06.2007, 19:01

Thereīve already been a few faked profiles of Michael and Eddie up on myspace. I know that they got the first ones taken down and had a federal investigation ... but I guess, there is nothing you can do about it as long as there is no bad gossip coming up from the profiles ...

    Re: News

    evenstar - 18.06.2007, 06:27

    Re: News

    newnativspirit - 18.06.2007, 09:04

Hi again. And I'm so sorry to bring this up again as it's obviously an old and boring topic - but someone pointed out to me that on Eddie's "fake" myspace it now says that he's a "proud parent" (and it's updated to say he's in a relationship - I don't really care about that). "They" also posted in his about me section "I'm going to be a father". Truth, rumour, lies??? Why would whomever is "running" that page put that up?

I guess I'm just venting, but it's just so annoying.

    Re: News

    emerald - 21.06.2007, 03:53

Wow, I thought those fake myspaces were all gone. That is really annoying and I know to him it's got to be even more irritating because those fans who don't know it's a fake site are being fooled. Fortuntely, it is said on both michael and eddie's websites that they do not host a myspace so fans should know this.

    Re: News

    newnativspirit - 21.06.2007, 09:17

Although this is the thread for Michael, Iīll answer this a real quick - lol

Eddie himself told me that he and his brother are not on myspace - so this is for sure. He also said that they had a federal investigation for the first fake profiles.
Maybe he is a proud parent (from my experience most of the actors do have children and have to pay child support and there is nothing bad about it), maybe heīs going to be a dad soon. We shouldnīt care about his private life. All that counts is the great work he and his brother are doing as actors.

People who are creating fake profiles need attention and as long as we all stay away from these fake profiles they wonīt get it. I have no idea, why anybody should put up info on actors when they are wrong ... itīs kind of sick. I could find out about Eddie being a dad or not, but I donīt think that we should bother him with things like that.

    Re: News

    enelya06 - 21.06.2007, 20:18

I agree with you Anne. If I were famous I would not want my private life spread all over the place, and if this person is spreading lies about him then he needs to really pursue with more than an investigation.

Completely agree with you. I'm sorry to have brought it up - just needed to vent for a moment.

So, back to Michael - nice to see he's filming a new film - yippie. I hope that Chris E. get's distribution for 'Imprint' 'cause I'm dying to see that film. Or maybe if I'm really lucky it will play at the Toronto Film Festival in September...of course there's the imagineNATIVE film festival too in November.

He did. The first time I watched the film, I noticed his name near the end of the credits - but they stand out because his name is on it's own. The track I believe is the one he is on, is the scene when Adam Beach, Anna Paquin & Gordon Tootoosis visit Wounded Knee after the massacre - the song is so well done and the vocals - it's haunting with the muted colours of the scene.

I found out they're scheduled to release the DVD in September, so hopefully there will be news of a soundtrack too.

I just posted this article from 2005 in the Links Collection.

I vaguely understand what he is saying, but, I'd love for Michael to expand on this a bit further, as he also mentions on the Hatch video:

Quote: Eventually, Spears would like to "break through" from portraying only "Indian" characters to simply portraying characters who happen to be Indian.

Is he referring to a character similar to Wes Studi in Heat (for example because there are quite a few roles of Wes that aren't "Indian")? Or, as I haven't seen Imprint yet I can't really say, but is that character "Indian without being Indian"? Is it a more modern character?

    Re: News

    enelya06 - 30.07.2007, 03:52

I just read the article and it is good. I gleaned from it that he likes the way producers are getting Native Americans to play Native Americans. Course it would be nice for an explanation in detail from him.

As posted on another board - It seems that Michael is finially attending a film festival in respect to "Imprint" - Michael, Tonantzin and Chris will be attending the 2007 International Cherokee Film Festival this weekend in Tulsa OK.

    Maybe some photos will surface!!

Also this weekend "Imprint" is showing at the Heard Museum Film Festival in AZ.

    :D

    Re: News

    newnativspirit - 11.10.2007, 21:50

Iīll ask Michael Linn to get me some pictures! If heīs not going himself, he can ask Mike, Chris and Tonantzin to send some ...

    Re: News

    redc - 11.10.2007, 23:03

From reading those websites it appears that Michael Linn will be at the Heard Museum showing and the other three will be at ICFF - great planning booking two film festivals on the same weekend/same night.

I know you've been super busy and all that, and I totally respect that - life comes first - but I gotta ask about the trip to San Fran - how did it go? What did you ladies think of the movie? Who did you meet? How was the party/dinner/awards? What movies did you see (other than Imprint)? Will we see any other photos??? How did the business side of it go???

Sorry to ask those questions, but hopefully it's understandable that they've been on my mind since you ladies left for there and since you've been back. Patience's isn't my strongest quality, and I've been trying to be patient but it's been sooooo very long since then and I'm just so interested to know how it all went.

    Re: News

I know you are all waiting, but my computer doesnīt allow me to upload any pictures at all and I was glad that I was finally able to save some pics on CD !!! My computer totally acts up and Iīm not able to stay online long enough to tell the story. Iīve started to write something on my daughterīs computer and when Iīm done, Iīll try to send it to my email account and save it on mine - but I want my son to check on my computer first. Iīve started to write about Frisco so many times and then the computer shut down all by a sudden and everything was lost!!! So you can imagine that I was tired of it after a while and just didnīt start again - lol

I didnīt forget about it - just the technical problems are keeping me from sending you guys an update on Frisco. Sorry, but it seems like you will have to be more patient. :)

oh - OF COURSE I took this pic of Michael !!!

    Re: News

    newnativspirit - 05.01.2008, 22:30

Mike is on German TV !!! LOL

    Dances With Wolves ... LOL

Itīs good to see them all again:

    Floyd Red Crow Westerman
    Graham Green
    Buffalo Child
    Nathan Lee Chasing His Horse
    Michael Spears - lol
    Rodney A. Grant
    Tantoo Cardinal
    Steve Reevis
    Wes Studi
Jimmy Herman (heīs a great person - met him in Canada - wow!!!)

and itīs good to hear some Lakota again ...

    but the best:

to see Michael being only 10 years old ... LOL

    Re: News

    Idril - 06.01.2008, 21:32

yep, he was a cute kid. But I think Nathan looked better

    Re: News

    enelya06 - 10.01.2008, 21:38

I have to agree with Idril - Nathan looked hot. Also I thought his name was Nathan Chasing Horse...where did "his" come from. Course I'd love for him to chase me  (yes things are getting back to normal)

    Re: News

    Idril - 12.01.2008, 19:22

I think his full name is Nathan Lee Chasing his Horse, but he is mostly credited as Nathan Chasing Horse.

But this is a Michael-topic. Where going off-topic again

    Re: News

    newnativspirit - 12.01.2008, 21:18

thank you, thank you, thank you, Idril !!! I was about to mention this ...

    Re: News

    enelya06 - 13.01.2008, 05:26

Sorry  we need to be more careful about staying on topics.

    Re: News

    evenstar - 15.01.2008, 04:26

So Michael was only 10 years old when they filmed it? I was sure I had read different accounts that said that both Michael and Nathan Lee were about 13 at the time, although it seemed quite clear that Michael was much younger. He looked so small and cute back then. And, at risk of getting yelled at by Anne, Nathan Lee did look hot.

    Re: News

    enelya06 - 15.01.2008, 05:57

Yes it's hard to believe that Mike was only 10. He was a cutie though and did a wonderful job.

    Re: News

    newnativspirit - 15.01.2008, 21:15

hey, Iīm not yelling at anybody! LOL I just didnīt mention Nathan Lee, because this thread is for Michael and I thought that he should stay the main person ... ... thatīs all ...

Nathan looks like Nathan in DWW, but Michael ... lol ... you can tell that itīs him when you take a close look - he changed a lot ... he was a little boy back then and now heīs a tall and "muscular" man

    Re: News

    enelya06 - 15.01.2008, 21:54

oh yes he has grown up.....but he was a cute kid

I thought the same thing. When I first found out that Michael had been in DWW I couldn't imagine which character he had played cos none of them looked like him. He really has changed a lot.
