Don't forget about that terrible book called "Representation"...damn...that definately SUCKS!!!
    Poor shocked Ms Campbell...
I want to read some Edgar Allan Poe now, but don't have the time to do so...
Btw: How can you stand to read Lord of the flies?! It's written is such a boring way... :P

Rekkr wrote: I'm reading Carl Sagan "The Demon Haunted World" and Rachel Carson "Silent Spring".

Another strange coincidence....I bought that very smegging book last week. I hear FANTASTIC things about Sagan from my older brother [not the one who lives with me], he gave me Broca's Brain a few years ago...which Tyler [living with one] stole, never read, it's sitting in his closet. >:C
I plan to read that Sagan within the near future [remember, I'm still hooked on Crichton].

Lord of the Flies: I had to read this a few years ago for school [obviously, I'm sure most of you had to also]. I liked it. It didn't seem too boring to me, and Piggy got fucking pwnt. \m/

Back to the subject of the page though, I just finished Sphere by Michael Crichton in 2nd hour today at school. That....was a fucking great book. One of his best. Ranks up there with Jurassic Park and Congo. I'm chugging through one of his books every 2-4 days.
    1. Eaters of the Dead
    2. Jurassic Park
    3. Congo
    4. Prey
    5. The Lost World
    6. The Andromeda Strain
    7. The Terminal Man
    8. Sphere
Waiting: The Great Train Robbery, Rising Sun, Disclosure, Airframe, Timeline, Travels, A Case of Need.

Every single one of these I would rank as one of the best books I've ever read...except maybe The Andromeda Strain [pretty boring, too much pseudo-science, which was hard to work out from the real science] or The Terminal Man [too many outdated ideas].
    I think I'lll read Disclosure next...Or Rising Sun....One of his non-technical books.

Someone fucking read the ones I suggest and become a fan too. I don't want to be the lone Crichton obsessor. >:C

Ödön von Horvath - Jugend ohne Gott (means "Youth without a god")

A book about a liberal teacher in the Nazi-era and his relationship to his Nazi-turning-pupils. But that's too short to cover the whole plot of the book. I recommend all to read it. It's great!

Re: Which book are you reading at the moment?

I read it a few years ago :)

right now i have to read like 15 - 20 norwegian folktales, cos i have this half-year writing project - shit (in the norwegian classes).. at first my teacher approved that i could have about The Norse Mythology, but after a while, like after i had founded books and stuff that is good. he came and said that i couldn't have it after all... that pisses me off, so i had to choose something else and then i choosed about Norwegian Folktales, popular poetry and folkbeliefs - since i know about this stuff and all. haven't started the folktales yet, cos i have to read this book "Det norske folkeeventyret" ("the norwegian folktale), it's over 200 pages, and it is about how you write a folktale, how it became so popular, what effects it gives. etc...

Re: Which book are you reading at the moment?

Damn, sis...your teacher must be kinda stupid...and unfair...He doesn't worship your work! But hey, he doesn't know what he misses in not hearing you talk about Norse Mythology!

Teachers are really indifferent sometimes. I'm lucky with my tutors, they all are great... And one of them even shares my interests... and she even can fight with a sword! :D Perhaps she's the greatest pesron I've ever met. A real valkyrje!

I'm reading a book about runes now. :D

Both great books. That vampire book is probaly the only vampire book I will ever read...Only one I will need to.

State of Fear was fan-fucking-tastic. If any of you are interested in the state of the planet and fear global warming will mess it up for your future generations, read this. The facts brought up in this book will surprise you and make you think in a whole new light. To boot, the great science on the environment comes complete with a great story. Crichton's longest book running at 603 pages [including the afterword, the appendixes dealing with graphs and past pseudoscience events that were huge embarassments, and the bibliography which ran over 20-pages long it seemed, with notes on a majority of the books.
Two thumbs up by me, and I recommend all of you read this if you are interested in not being an idiot. Or a tool of the media. For some odd reason I doubt anyone, excuse one or two people who I suspect, will care.

Anyway, at the moment I am focusing on The Demon-Haunted World: Science As a Candle in the Dark by renowned scientist Carl Sagan. Gives explanations and goes over much pseudoscience that fills this world and all fools' brains. At least from what I can tell from 39 pages in. Rekkr read it recently.
I'm also reading The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson....sorta. On the side. I'm much more interested in non-fiction nowadays.
