which weapon i like the best!? difficult one, cos, there is a lot of good and old weapons out there. but, The Hammer of Thor is a mighty one! :lol: but, since we are talking about weapons that we can actually hold in our hands, i must say that i prefer the Axe! Swords aren't bad they either, nor is the bow. but it is something with the axe that spellbinds me, it has something trollish over itself i think.

waaa, noo!!!, man, I was talkng about non fire-weapons, U can even choose Siege weaponery but fire-weapons are like... not very viking hehehe, anyway, now that U mention it, maybe some ppl over here like fire-weapons, I dont like them at all, but I respect individuality

oh, i didn´t know it is medieval weapons only...hmm, then i like the weapons of the forest dwelling the most, i.e. axes, spears, quarterstaffs and of course the mighty longbows!

personaly I think that fireweapons doesnt let the WARMAN (warwoman) show his(her) skills as iron weapons do, and of course... a fireweapon just... kills, and the ironweapons give the chance to let the most skilled win
so..., that's just my opinin :P

I'm sure it makes you feel powerful though. But yes, I agree, there is no honor in modern weapons. Melee weapons are the best!

fire weapons... i shouldn't open my mouth too big here, since i can handle the gun and used to practise with them quite often and i also competed around in Norway. but i thought one day it was rather fucked up - also the club i was into, and i haven't practised with them for a long time now. and i don't want to do it again either, cos what is the point and purpose?! standing there, shooting against a target, absolutely no point in it at all. and as my bro said, it isn't any honour nor any pride in it!!

I don´t understand why everybody´s bitching about firearms. The only reason to use a weapon is not to look grim and attract chicks but to gain an advantage over your enemy. I don´t see a difference between killing somebody with a melee weapon or a ranged one, it is honorable as long as the other combatant owns a similarly effective weapon and is able to wield it with the same skill. Even a duel with two fighters fighting unarmed may be less honorable than a sniping duel if one of the meleers is more skilled than the other. To sum it up: I doesn´t depend on the weapons used but on the combatants´ skill if a fight can be considered honorable or not.
But which fighter with some brains would want to reduce his chance to win a fight against an opponent to a mere 50:50? I think a smart fighter like e.g. Hagen from the Nibelungenlied or Helge Hundingstöter uses every advantage he can gain over his enemy, even tactics like ambushes or catching the other with his pants down. Only stupid heroes fight in honorable ways and those are the ones that die young...

well, of course... if U want just to kill your enemy and get rid of him/her (as almost all of us want to), use a firegunn, but if U want to prove that you're phisically more skilled and like that sentence that says "only the best gifted are the ones that survive" then come on in with medieval weapons and let's see who's more skilled!!
skill in a gunn = pull the triger faster, AIM nearby the target, cut the cartridge faster
skill with medieval weaponery = bare the weapon's weight and throw good slashes, bare the enemy weapon's weight while defending, skip his blows, make good slash-combinations ETC ETC
I'm not saying that is easier to get skilled at fireguns, just .... well... kinda prefear medieval weaponery and of course... bare fist fight, cuz in a gunfight the powerfull one is the GUN! in the other fights mentioned the strong one and skilled are YOU
but AGAIN, if U just want to kill someone... unpersonaly and with too much advantage over some person (even if they have gunns), USE FIREWEAPONS!!!!
PS I agree with cymo, just wanted to post that stuff, and this is not bitching arround about fireweapons :wink:

i got skilled with fire weapons while my military time! it isn't that hard to get used to them, but all in all medieval weapons are more interesting when thinking of real challanging! the issue if fireweapons are more effective or not is useless... a warrior loves the fight and the victory because of its own strength! so fuck off with guns etc.

i hate fireweapons! it's for cowards! you don't have to look anymore into the eyes of your enemy to harm or even kill him!
it makes killing to simple. it's the same with hunting. it became very easy to kill an animal. you don't really need some skills to handle a weapon, i think. not that much like to handle a bow or a spear.
the victims don't have a chance to defend themselves. and that's not fair...

it sort of makes a human (animal) life worthless if it is taken so easily.
with mass weapon destruction death becomes nothing more than statistic.

btw, I rather fight someone who has the CHANCE to defeat me than subyugate a weak or defenseless one, so.... fireweapons have some problems to do that hehe... I mean, U can be skilled at trigering it and sth, like the old west tales, but there's no ral FIGHT there... death is too... ahm...., fast...., or... well I really dont know how to express myself so... let's just say I like medieval weaponery wayyyy toooo muuuuch! :p
