    Eragon
Who of you red the books? ( I did of course  ) The first part is comming to the cinemas in december. Can't wait!

( hm... somehow I can't wait for many things right now. Harry Potter, Eragon, my Narnia books, the winter holidays, my next meeting with Anne... etc etc etc    )

    i haven't
you reallya re making em curious with your books
alltho i do not like harry potter
    not even the movies
i don't knwo why exactly ,maybe it is because ppl first tried to compare ti with LOTR and i didn;'t like ti since that moment i heard about that
i do think Daniel Rattcliff and teh other main-caracters are very good actors and actress

    Re: Eragon

    Idril - 26.11.2006, 20:15

hehe  eragon is also a trilogy. The first two books are out, the last one is commin in 2008 I think, but I'm not sure.

About Harry Potter: I never heard anyone trying to compare it with LotR! LotR and HP are defintally two different worlds! They can't be more different! You should check out Harry Potter. At least try it. I didn't want to read it in the beginning, but then I became addicted to it.

    and i didn't liek them
the first one was a really for younger age
i mena with taht ,that it wasn;'t scary at all
and teh second one ,i liked the snake and the crying toilet-ghostgirl ,but that was it
    i didn't see anything that i liked
so i haven't watched the sequals after that
i could try to see the 3th one but if it is the same kind as the second than i know i don't want to see more of it

Idril wrote: Read the books. They are much, much better than the films. I swear it!

I can back Idril up on this one - the books are so much better! And I've never heard the comparisons to LOTR either. The only thing they have in common is being part of the fantasy genre (oh, and having a few wizards here and there *lol*). I've only ever heard comparisons between LOTR and Star Wars!

What is Eragon about? I haven't read it yet.

I will borrowed them from the library.

I got out some of my old books and looked back through them - but I don't have any of the Harry Potter ones - have the movies though. I always like to read the books then see the movies - sometimes though I see the movies then read the books.

Yeag, I'm talking about Harry Potter  But 1000 pages isn't that much. The book is easy to read. I only needed about a day (reading from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.) to read it.

And to Eragon: The first book is about a boy called Eragon who finds the egg of a dragon. When the dragon is born they become friends and they have to help to defend the good against the evil. In the second book Eragon lives with the elves for a while to learn more about magic and to become a better fighter. The thirt part (which isn't out yet) will be about the final fight between good and bad.

Is Eragorn a typical book for children?

If you think, that Harry Potter is a book only for children.

sure! And even those books were books for children (which they are not in my opinion), why not reading books for children when you're a grown-up? There is always a little child in a humans body

I agree I still love to read children's books and well over 25

    Re: Eragon

    evenstar - 29.11.2006, 06:00

I didn't read Harry Potter until last year (when I was 22), so you're not too old! And Idril is right, the HP series is not for children (only somebody who HASN'T read the books would say that). The first couple of books were kiddy, but they get more adult as they progress.

I always say that I become more and more child-like the older I get! :P

    Re: Eragon

    Idril - 29.11.2006, 18:35

    awww that's cute

I haven't read a children's book for years now. I don't know why. Just didn't found the right one. lol I didn't even read much in the last years. :? Don't have so much time during the day because of school and hobbies and in the evenings, after I had my time on the pc, I'm mostly so tired, that I can't read. I just lay down in my bed and start to dream until I fall asleep. And sometimes, if I have a bit too much energy I sit down and start to write a book on my own (I'm sitting at the same book for about 5 years now  and I haven't even finished half of the story. I even started the whole thing new, because I didn't like the beginning anymore :? )

    Re: Eragon

    evenstar - 30.11.2006, 04:56

Hey, that is really cool. I've always wanted to write my own book. I remember writing some stories as a kid but I can't even remember what they were about now!

    Re: Eragon

Yeah, I hope so, too. It would be sooo cool if I could make my money as an author. Like Steven King (is that his name?) or J.K. Rowling... *deep sigh*

But as far as I remember I have always written stories. They weren't always good but some of them... I remember one day I had a very doog story. About 30 pages long. And then my pc just ate it. And only 3 pages were left. And the story was so good. :(

    Re: Eragon

    Idril - 30.11.2006, 20:22

It was years ago (four or five or even more I think) and I had an older pc. It was another pc, very different from the one I have now. Bigger, heavier, uglier... well.... Very mean. I cried so much because I was so proud of my story. But well, now I have another pc, a new story and I never keep my stories on my pc. Only on my usb-sticks

I fear is will be the same as with the Harry Potter-movies. The book will be much better.

    Re: Eragon

    evenstar - 06.12.2006, 02:13

Isn't that always the case Idril! I am a member of a LOTR forum and am currently "debating" with people who think that Peter Jackson absolutely destroyed The LOTR and want to stop him from making The Hobbit. I think people are too harsh on film adaptations. They are never going to live up to the book so why not enjoy them for what they are - a different version of the books on film? :D

    Re: Eragon

    Idril - 06.12.2006, 18:08

That's a good idea. lol I would love to read the english book versions of LotR because I started with a new German version and I didn't like it very much. The story was great, but the style of writing... aaaah I don#t know. I couldn't fit myself into the story. :?

    Re: Eragon

    Mela - 06.12.2006, 22:26

I just saw a trailer of the movie Eragorn. I am going to see it.

Do you think it's a coincidence that "Eragon" sounds like "Aragorn"? I've heard some of the words and they sound very LOTResque to me.

Idril, do you mean you didn't enjoy the German version of the book because the translation was bad or something?

I just love the books though they are lengthy ones. And after seeing the movies you can picture it by reading the books. It was an excellent mini series.

yeah. When my mum told me about Eragon the first time I was like "mum, the name is Aragon." And she said: "no, this is not LotR. This is something new!"

I don't know why. I think the translation was not that good. lol But I will get the english versions for christmas from my aunt :D

You certainly sound busy! What is this vaulting that you do? 8)

    Re: Eragon

    Idril - 14.12.2006, 21:18

Something like doing gymnasctics on a horse. You can do it in single-version or in a team. I prefer last one. I train with a group two times a week, then I'm Co-trainer of two other groups (each group trains one time a week) and then I have my own group one time a week, so that makes five times of vaulting on four days  Not to forget about the horseback riding once a week and school. (which is sadly five times a week :? )

    Re: Eragon

    evenstar - 15.12.2006, 02:41

Wow, that sounds like fun! What, you have to go to school 5 days a week? That must be torture *lol* I wish I had taken horse riding lessons growing up, but my parents wouldn't let me. It's taken me many years to realise that I can afford to send myself now :o

    Re: Eragon

    Idril - 15.12.2006, 18:04

now what do you think? I promised Milena to take her and her friend to see Eragon in the theatres ... but I want her to read the book first ... will you bring the book when you come here to visit? Don´t forget !!! Is she too young for the movie?

I watched eragon the second time today and to be honest... It's a good movie but comapred to the book it's a totally different story, which has only the same titel and the same character-names. But nothing is really it was described in the book... (ok, Murthag looks really the way I imagined him  )

My daughter went to see it this past weekend and just loved it. She and her friend Coty got some VIP passes to Freedom Writer, I believe. They went to the screening of it last night. She said it was awsome.

yep that's very good. My sister is reading all the books I have now. She can't wait untill Milena finished Eragon 1. I told her, that there is a summery of Eragon 1 in Eldest (the second Eragon book) so I think she will start to read it, after she finished Sabriel, Lirael and Abhorsen.

If they will make a movie of part two I think there will be even less Murtagh (he's only about 7 to 10 minutes in the whole movie allthough he's a main character and you read about him during half of the book) and the story will turn away even more from the book, because they left so much out of the first part that's very important for the second part.

I wanted to go to the movies with my daughter and watch Eragon, but it´s not even playing at the theatres around here no more .... was it that bad??? Now we are waiting for it to come out on dvd :)

...btw, she´s still fascinated by the book ... when she is done with it, I will have to buy Idril a new one, I guess. Because it´s such a "huge" book, (for my daughter it is) the book cover doesn´t look that good anymore ...

The third book will come out in Sep this year! The waiting is finally over!!! :D But did you hear, that C. Paolini wants to make a fourth book? I don't really know what to think about that... Eragon was planned as a trilogy and now suddenly there will be a fourth book... I don't know if that's so good... :?
