Hallo Kommilitonen,
nach der Diskussion heute in der Klasse über das Financial Accounting-Buch,
wurde mir klar wie wichtig so eine Plattform wie unser Forum eigentlich ist.
Es war ja in der Aufbruchstimmung kaum möglich die Aufmerksamkeit aller auch nur für wenige Minuten auf den Klassensprecher zu richten, geschweige denn eine Diskussion über die Buchproblematik führen zu können.
Für mich ist das auch verständlich. Jeder hat noch was vor nach der Vorlesung, oder hat keine Lust mehr, will heim. Kein Problem.
Aber dann bin ich dafür derartige Themen im Forum anzusprechen, dann
ist 1. jeder informiert und 2. kann sich jeder das dann in ruhe anschauen, wenn er lust und Zeit hat.
Mir persönlich ging das heute zu schnell und ich habe mich ein bisschen überrumpelt gefühlt mit Entscheidungen wie: wir nehmen die 4th Edition, und: wir machen die Aufgaben bis Freitag.
Auch ist mir bis jetzt nicht klar ob jeder einzeln Prof O'Keefe antworten soll, oder ob das jemand für alle übernimmt.
Und ob es überhaupt sinnvoll ist das für alle zu übernehmen halte ich auch
für diskussionswürdig.
Schade, dass eine so gut geeignete Plattform wie das Forum in solchen Situationen nicht genutzt wird.
Die Arugmentation: "wofür brauch ich ein Forum, wir sehn uns doch jeden Tag" ist für mich hinfällig, da während oder bei den Vorlesungen kaum Zeit ist Themen zu besprechen, und auch nicht jeder, der was dazu beizutragen hat, von allen gehört werden kann.
Die Alternative wäre gewesen nach der Mail von O'Keefe die Frage ins Forum zu stellen, wie wir uns verhalten, und um alle auf diese Forumsdiskussion aufmerksam zu machen eine Infomail an den Verteiler zu schicken.

komplett sinnbefreit is es allerdings, ne rundmail mit nem forumlink rumzuschicken...entweder...oder...bitte nich beides... ;-)

Dear Stefan,
The fourth edition will be fine. I was trying to save you some money maybe by using the older edition. There may be a few references in my course material that will not match up with the 4th edition, but that should not be a significant problem.
Will those 2 people who have the 3rd edition have access to the questions and exercises in the 4th edition through a team member or friend? If so, then go ahead and prepare the answers for the exercises in the 4th edition. I will likely change future assignments to match up with the 4th edition if that is what everyone has.
Is your class already divided into work groups or teams? Since these exercises are for your learning benefit, I am perfectly comfortable if you submit only one solution per group/team.
We can postpone sending answers until Sunday at midnight. However, you may need to arrange for the copying of Chapter 2 and 3 if the books do not arrive soon.
Each student should have received in the last few hours a notification regarding their enrollment in an online course management system at UWF. The email should contain a Guest Username and Guest password. Have you received such an email? I would like for you to try it out so that we know that it works and so that you might help others if they have difficulty accessing the site.
First, go to the following web address http://elearning.uwf.edu. You will see a screen that looks like the picture below EXCEPT it will have the “ArgoNet” button selected instead of the “Guest” button. You will need to click the “Guest” button and the screen will shift so that it looks like the picture below.
Enter the Guest Username and Password that you received via email. You will be taken to your eLearning Home Page. You will see a banner that shows the following:
ShowContinuing Education
Click the + sign to expand the menu under Continuing Education. You should see only one course that is labeled NC.67743 - BIP Financial Accounting.
Select the course and it will take you to the specific course site. Try moving around in the course and let me know how it goes.

Dear Dr. O'Keefe,
we don't want to spam your e-mail account, so we decided that I will answer for all of us. I am the representative of the class.
First of all, everyone received your mail. Concerning your questions:
1. Is this the first course that you have taken that is delivered entirely in English?
- Yes, it is.
2. Have you ever had an accounting course before?
- No, it is the first time that we will get in touch with accounting.
3. Have you already read Chapter 1 in the Financial Accounting textbook?
- No. As Ulrike already mailed you, everyone had had problems to get the textbook. We ordered it already 4 weeks ago, but obviously the delivery is delayed. To solve the problem for the first time, I copied the first chapter and will hand out the copies tomorrow.
Another problem is the fact that the library ordered the 4th edition. It differs in the tasks and questions even in that ones you send us. Thus, are we expected to answer 3rd edition's questions or 4th edition's ones? With the exception of 2 people, the whole class will get the 4th edition. Does this cause any problems in your course?
Regarding the problems we had and still have to organise the book, we would like to ask you if it is possible to send you our answers a few days later?
