    Shrine: Shrine of Calling
Pretty simple idea because the distances between expos and bases are quite large. If expansions get rushed and need fast defending you often get there too slowly while people have no room to carry scrolls of town portal with them. Would also work for easier hero ganking or pushing of lines, meaning it could be just as well used offensively.

A shrine that has a sort of teleport function like a scroll of town portal, except that the shrine targets a hero and summons the hero to it, not vice-versa. Perhaps a little lower than normal shrine cost , say 2000 gold and 6 honor? Cooldown shouldn't be too short or maybe give the teleport mana cost and the shrine mana allowing maybe 2 players to teleport max, to prevent abuse of the teleport function.

Idea has base on EotA's Castle or Main Tree teleport function.

    Comments? Suggestions?

    I like it

I like the idea too, as long as not a whole team can teleport to the expo, one hero would be fine I guess.
On the other hand, there is already shrine of merchants where you get Townportals for free...

So why build a shrine of calling instead of a shrine of merchants?

    To save inventory space ofc.

Well nooK you must keep in mind, you don't have to build this, even if you can. Its completely optional. Other choice is always to use shrines of the merchants free teleport scrools. But as many people understood from my description it saves that one precious item slot for something else.

NooK pointed out something important today. I described my idea a bit wrong. I didnt mean that a player could teleport someone elses hero with it. For those who know how EotA: twilights teleport system works, know what I was trying to say. It's like when you click the "teleport to" (or something) on the shrine, it automatically teleports the hero of the player who clicked it, to the shrine. So you cannot teleport someone elses hero with it.

Although it might even have some uses when you could target someone elses hero too. You could save someone who is being chased or ganked with it. Though the player being ganked could do it himself too. This leads us to another use of this shrine: a teleport escape.

I'm not sure did I understand. Could you repeat that again?

The suggestion seems fine for me as long as you can interrupt the teleportation.

    Well...

    My general Ronin build:

    -3xhealth potion (Slow regen type).
    -3xmana potion (Slow regen type).
-Antimagic potion (Cause it rocks) or a teleport scroll.
-Kanji Stone (Cause of mana..) or a teleport scroll.
    -Skywalker Boots.
-Dust if the ninja's being annoying, otherwise another teleport scroll.

Basically, what I'm saying is that having teleport scrolls in your inventory is very very worth the time, money and effort. I use them all the time to get around the map. This is less the case for more creep/siege focused heroes, of course.

Teleport scrolls are so worth it that I sometimes forego the kanji stone and rely on good spell management with mana potions between battles, just to have the extra slot for teleporting.

Conclusion: This shrine should cost just as much as a normal shrine. The full 3k and 10 honour. Why? Because it effectively gives your hero extra item slots. That's very very very good, and should have appropriate costs to balance it.

Rememer: 3000 gold and 10 honour for a shrine is, to a good team, 500 gold each and less than two hero kills. That's actually rather easy to get :P

If you disagree... well... I have countless replays.

I got that it saves you one item slot...what I thought is if it´s worth to build this shrine..
    Working on it.

What about giving this shrine an ability like the orc burrow to save your workers, by storing them inside the building?

Would it be too strong? Making peasants unkillable?

    Re: Shrine: Shrine of Calling

    Lyncor - 03.11.2006, 21:58

Yeah, it would. Peasants need to be killable - they're already protected by the towers, making it dangerous to target them in the first place. Besides, you can just hide them in the trees if you need to.

    Re: Shrine: Shrine of Calling

    Forbidden - 04.11.2006, 18:40

Uhh Lyncor...you do realize that you just told everyone - once again - where you keep your peasants? Everyone knows where you "hide" them because you just told us where you keep them, so it's not really much of a hiding place. And if people take your advice...you just told their enemies too where the peasants are.

You can just walk around the base, go through the forest, and kill the peasants, a hero like Ronin, Ninja or Yari will make quick work of peasants unbothered by any towers and spawns. Only heroes may interfere. A Yari can easily survive 1 or even 2 heros attacks while killing the peasants and escape alive.

I say rather make some weaker unit or place to hide them, like a wagon that has no attack, and something like 500-750 hp. That would make it possible to crack open and kill the peasants inside. And if it costs something like 800 gold, it wouldn't be far from what 3 new peasants cost (900). So is it that bad if someone "wastes" 800 gold to keep earlier peasants alive, than let the peasants die because no good place to hide, and just buy new ones for almost the same price? I would prefer having that option instead of just letting the peasants hide in the forest where everyone knows I keep them. Good hiding place I say :? .
