    This is why Marksman hunters should wait with respecing to survival untill they god imba gear ( again, alot of copy past )

    Abstract
    This section is a comparison of damage done by 5/31/15 marksmanship and 21/30 survival spec. Through careful modeling of three separate hunter strategies that I believe reflect real life situations. The highest dps from these three models were charted and compared.

    Below is a graph of how marksmanship and survival build dps changes with weapon speed

    Note: The only variable involved is weaponspeed. The change in dps is caused ONLY by the difference in weapon speed.

    Here is another graph comparing how damage scales with agi increase between Marksmanship, Survival, and Survival with TSA. This is pre-talent agi. With buffs like mark, kings, scorpok assay it should be possible to get your pre-talent agi to 600.

    Conclusions
    Marksmanship hunters do more damage than survival hunters with 425agility. You can see that the agility bonus from 425 agility is required to compensate for barrage and ranged weapon specialization, as survival build dps with true shot aura is comparable to marksmanship dps.

    I also examined graphs for agility up to 550 in increments of 25. Even at 550 agility the 100ranged attack power bonus from true shot aura could not be compensated for.

    However if you can leech true shot aura from another hunter, it may be worth it to spec 21/30 when you are at 450agility.

    assumptions
    a 45 dps bow was used with the labeled weapon speed and a 15% speed increase quiver.
    Agility was assumed to be 425 with another 500 ranged attack power coming from non-agility sources.

    Models used
    Three models were used in calculating this. The standard hunter attack rotation model (under the assumption that aimed shot is immediately followed by an auto-shot, but multi-shot has no effect on auto-shots), a modified hunter attack rotation model (one extra auto-shot was taken before starting the next aimed shot), and arcane shot spam model.

    The effect of criticals are accounted for. (Including increased crit chance in survival build)

    The effect of quickshot was not included into the standard hunter attack rotation model and modified hunter attack rotation model as it complicates the problem beyond belief. (The quickshot can activate after any one of the shots, the length of time the quickshot is active varies depending on which shot activates the quickshot. The effect of quickshot can be roughly estimated by increasing damage by 4%)

    For the arcane shot spam model, the effect of quickshot was partially included. The number of attacks in one minute was calculated along with the expected number of quick shots in one minute from that number. Then the damage bonus from one quick shot activation (dps*2.4) was multiplied by this figure. This method does not take into account quick shot being activated during a quickshot and increased chances of quickshot happening during a quickshot. However it should be close enough.

    The increased 3% hit chance from surefooted is not accounted for in the survival models. However this can be roughly estimated as a 3% increase in damage.
    Because quick strike and surefooted is unaccounted for in most of the graph, this is actually closer to a comparison between a 31/20 build and a 21/30 build.
    The only part where quickshot is accounted for is for weapons of <1.5speed (does not exist in the game) where you can see the dps rise due to quick shot.

    Sample data from the calculation
    Including this data for 450 agility so that people can help me check if there are mistakes.
    At 450 agility and 20% base chance to crit with 500 RAP coming from non-AGI. Weapon: Rhok'delar. Arrows: Jagged.

    How MM/Surv works with actual equipment
    So I did that analysis I mentioned earlier of comparing MM build and Surv build damage with realistic gear combinations.

    Here are my results.

    Setting 1: I took the equipment I am currently using, and calculated the 10 second rotation damage in both MM and Surv.

    Setting 2: Then I took the equipment combination that will yield the maximum agility and calculated the 10 second rotation damage. (Striker's Garb, DS elsewhere, Nozdormu ring, Circle of Applied force, two weapons with 16 agi and 15agi enchants, praestor, shrouded mist) (For those of you who are interested, the figure I got was 549 pre-talent self-buffed Agi)

    Situation 3: Then I replaced the 8agi enchants with the ZG enchant.

    Situation 4: Then I replaced the main and off hand of the max agi build with the weapons I'm using.

    In this thread I mentioned two methods of estimating iaoth damage.
    Method 1: one extra autoshot every 30 sec
    Method 2: 4% damage boost
    It's hard to get the exact damage with iaoth, so I'm providing the figure of ioath estimate where one extra auto-shot is added once every 30 seconds. This is the MMQS figure.

    Situation 1: My equipment
    MM: 4174.562514
    MMQS: 4302.975
    Survival: 4091.783103
    Survival with TSA: 4263.633

    Situation 2: Max Agi equipment
    MM: 4325.678
    MMQS: 4463.515
    Survival: 4311.19
    Survival with TSA: 4480.574

    Situation 3: ZG enchants instead of +8agi enchants
    MM: 4340.473
    MMQS: 4479.47
    Survival: 4315.821
    Survival with TSA: 4484.644

    Situation 4: Weapons switched
    MM: 4372.883
    MMQS:4510.72
    Surv: 4325.992
    Survival with TSA: 4496.924

    A few things I see with this.
    1. When considering ideal dps, 0/21/30 doesn't do quite as much damage as 5/31/15 even with TSA leeched and top-end equipment.
    4496.924 per rotation is the highest value I've gotten for survival with TSA
    Where as 4510.72 is possible with 5/31/15
    However, Survival does offer a lot more survivability, and PvP tricks.

    2. ZG enchants do very little for survival build (relative to 8agi enchants)
    .4dps increase in terms of dps increase.
    You get 20 extra stamina, which is significant in PvP and elsewhere.
    The 2% chance to hit does not help all that much because surefooted, neck, ring already puts you at 5% chance to hit.
    ZG enchants do help, and I would probably go with them myself, but if you are short on money consider 8agi as a viable alternative.

    3. 16 agi weapons are not very good compared to one hand weapons with 1% crit and attack power
    Even survival builds are better off with CHT, FoF, Hakkari Mainhand, BB

    4. Let's consider raid buffs for a second.
    Mark of the wild: 12agi (16agi with talents)
    Blessing of Kings: 10% agi boost (max 55 agi boost)
    Elixir of the Mongoose: 50 agi boost

    The difference between survival and MM that comes with full raid buffs is 18agi. This will let Surv out dps 5/31/15 with top notch equipment.
