VANILLA FUDGE Recording LED ZEPPELIN Covers
VANILLA FUDGE Recording LED ZEPPELIN Covers Album - Aug. 1, 2006

Launch Radio Networks reports: VANILLA FUDGE are in southern California this
week, recording an album of LED ZEPPELIN covers. Drummer Carmine Appice gave
Launch the scoop on what the band is doing. "Basically, we rearranged some
songs - we're doing a lot of their stuff FUDGE style, you know? Some of it
is slowed down, and some of it is speeded up, and some of it has additional
parts added. Boy, we got some great stuff. Our manager came down and was
    flipping out about it."

Appice also told Launch there's a preliminary title for the album. "We're
thinking of calling it 'The Song Almost Remains The Same', but it could be
taken as a bit of a joke with that title, you know?" he said.

If all goes according to plan, the FUDGE/ZEPPELIN album will be out in the
    fall, probably in October.

The LED ZEPPELIN-VANILLA FUDGE relationship runs almost 40 years. Back in
December 1968, ZEPPELIN came to the U.S. for the first time, as the opening
act for VANILLA FUDGE and the MC5.

I had NO idea these guys were still around. They were OK back in the day,
but I don't think they're going to draw much attention with this.

So Zeppelin opening for them once and subsequently going on to blow Fudge
and their musical achievements in to insignificance constitutes a "40-year
    relationship" does it?

i don't know some songs were just meant to be left alone, that's why
sometimes i hate this re-mastered stuff too, certain things just sound
better on the original vinyl. but maybe, prove me wrong fudge-io

Man, why in the world would you want to record an album of ANOTHER band's
songs? Unless you were some techno remix producer or hip-hop DJ.

Hey, didn't Great White just do this? Carmine is not even original at being
    unoriginal.

for Vanilla Fudge and the MC5?

See, it wasn't until the rock media got ahold of Zeppelin, that all the
mindless drones began calling Zep the greatest rock band ever. Hell, people
are STILL making excuses for why Zep ripped off blue artists. Can you say
    "most overrated band ever?"

Zep looked up to the Fudge with reverence. Listen to them both, while their
styles vary greatly, you can definitely hear Fudge influence in the Zep
orchestrated, dragged out blues. Adjectives (except for blues) sound
familiar? Especially Bonham. Listen to Appice and Bonham, they played the
same set of drums even. Appice helped Bonzo get his Ludwig sponsorship. And
Appice was first mind you. The Fudge and Zep indeed were, and are friends. A
couple of years ago Robert Plant sat in with the Fudge when they toured
    Britain.

Other literally legendary bands such as Deep Purple, Styx, Yes (as well as
Zep) publicly credit Vanilla Fudge as strong influences. Jon Lord said DP
wanted to be the British Vanilla Fudge.

And the Fudge forte' was re-arranging others' songs. I for one, can't wait
for this album! And, it's all four original members who still sing in the
same key as 40 years ago! :-)

THis band is legendary and great. THey still got it too, I saw em' live a
    while back.

Of course there will be the usual silly Blabbermorons talking shit.

    Whatever, Vanilla Fudge owns.
