Flanders soil reviels 65 year old secret ME-110
    Good evening gents

Our organisation has recoverd a ME-110 yesterday in Assenede, East-Flanders Belgium.

We knew there was "something" in the ground in a farmers field after years of prospecting, research and deep scanning for any foreign objects. The scanner went totally nuts at one point and pointed out that there was someting at a depth of 6 meters

Eyewitnesses had seen an aircraft coming down in 1943

In co-operation with the gouvernement we got a green light yesterday to see wat was in the ground. We are one of the sole organisations that have a permit under the Belgian law to excavate WW2 airplanes. When we find remaines of a pilot or crewmember we do this with the biggest respect. The weather was fairly good so we had a go at it.

I would like to share the result of determination and patience of the BAHAAT crew.

    Hi paul,

I will post the full story of this particular aircraft in the early future. We don't have all the answers yet of the ME110 we recovered. First there is some more cleaning up to do :n108:

    @Lancasterman

As your location is Canada this info might be interesting to you. Our organisation also provided recovered parts ( oleo's of the main landinggear) of Halifax LW682 (426 Sqn) for a project in Trenton Canada. A Canadian guy called Karl Kjarsgaard with Norwegian roots discovered a wrak of a Halifax in a lake in Norway an brought it over to Canada for restauration to static condition. our oleo's will be used on that plane.

    I'll keep you informed

Here a little coverage from a local TV station

    http://museumforfreedom.be/AVSjournaal.mpg

    Dutch only (sorry guys)

Thanbks stevo, yes I knew of LW682 and the landing gear. Karl is a good friend as well. NA337 stands proud in her Hangar at Trenton.

    Lancasterman

you can read the full story behind our Halifax on the bahaat website ( in English).

    Some more pics

1 of the main gears and the tailwheelassemble

Notice the black painted part from one of the rudders or fin, Swastika?

One of the engines is severely damaged, could be an indication that one side of the plane hit the ground first. The other engine is in far better condition

Well it's dirty work but somebody's got do do it
