Hello,
Could anybody help to figure out what type of American fighter could it be? The aircraft went down in the vicinity of Gyor, Hungary. One of the eyewitness states that the plane was P-38 and the pilot had an Italian like name. I checked all the P-38s for that day: December 17, 1944. No one of the pilot had Italian name, but there is a P-51 loss where the pilot was Salvatore Giordano, which sounds quite like Italian. Actually the witness still states that it was P-38 and he is not familiar with the name Giordano. So I would need some more verification in this case.

Bendix was a vendor in the production of the P-51 and to others......
Do you have more parts with possibly numbers or stamps?
