    Hero : Yatoihei

    Yatoihei
    Multipurpose Tank/Spawn Killer

Just an idea for a simple Mercenary hero that relies heavily on spawns and much less on damage abilities, seeing as he has none.

    Stats:
    HP- 475
    MP- 250
    Strength- 26 (2.25 pl)
    Agility- 20 (1.75 pl)
    Intelligence- 18 (1.5pl)

    Spells:

    Kyuubo
    Single Target Cast

Recruits target allied unit to your team, giving them a special passive ability.
    Ashigaru- Pulverize-like sweeping ability
    Yari Calvalry- Bash
    Archer- Evasion
    Ninja- Drunken Brawler-like :P

Level 1- Mana cost 150, Cooldown 20, Max 2 spawns
Level 2- Mana cost 150, Cooldown 18, Max 4 spawns
Level 3- Mana cost 150, Cooldown 16, Max 6 spawns
Level 4- Mana cost 150, Cooldown 14, Max 8 spawns
Level 5- Mana cost 150, Cooldown 12, Max 10 spawns

This is his main skill, which most of the others revolve around, and I think it's fairly good. Instead of a standard charm, it also gives the ability, which is a handy bonus IMO.

    Oshieru
    Single Target Cast

Provides a damage bonus to a player-owned unit, along with with a boost of either health, attack speed or defense. Not stackable, but all 4 bonuses may be acquired by the same unit. (If you're lucky!)

Level 1- Mana cost 120, Weak bonus, Cooldown 40
Level 2- Mana cost 120, Medium bonus, Cooldown 37
Level 3- Mana cost 120, Medium bonus, Cooldown 34
Level 4- Mana cost 120, Strong bonus, Cooldown 31
Level 5- Mana cost 120, Strong Bonus, Cooldown 28

This is where you get to pump up your recruited units, allowing you to build a sizable force. The hero himself is a strong unit, but he has NO damaging until his ulti. The stats might be a bit off on this one though, not really sure what to do with it.

    Setsujoku
    Passive

Creates a Gravestone where a player-owned unit dies, boosting the moral (damage and defense) of nearby allied spawnies for a short duration (30 secs.).

Level 1- Gravestone health 100, AoE 400, Lasts 15 secs.,
Level 2- Gravestone health 150, AoE 50, Lasts 30 secs.
Level 3- Gravestone health 200, AoE 600, Lasts 45 secs.
Level 4- Gravestone health 250, AoE 700, Lasts 60 secs.
Level 5- Gravestone health 300, AoE 800, Lasts 75 secs.

See, it pays off if your units die! While it doesn't provide a bonus to the hero himself, spawn-boosters generally help pushing an empty lane pretty quickly.

    Ultimate: Final Draw
    Single Target Cast

The Yatoihei fires his Harquebus on a target enemy, marking him for death. All nearby spawns will now stop everything and attack this unit until it dies, or goes out of range. 250 mana, castable at 600 range.

Level 1- 175 shot damage, 600 escape range, 120 sec. cooldown
Level 2- 175 shot damage, 700 escape range, 100 sec. cooldown
Level 3- 175 shot damage, 800 escape range, 80 sec. cooldown
Level 4- 175 shot damage, 900 escape range, 60 sec. cooldown
Level 5- 175 shot damage, 1000 escape range, 40 sec. cooldown

Drawing inspiration from Tegeus's Tebbo hero's ultimate, I've created this. I think it suits the theme much better than the last ultimate, and can be quite useful too. Let's see what others think of it. :P

You will not believe how similar this is to a hero that I am right in the middle of typing up. Woah.

great hero, i really liked it!

Hehe, great minds think alike. How similar is it to your guy anyway?

Anyway, I tihkn I'm removing the last ability and switching the ulti to a morph that reomves all abilities but gives you the Harquebus and a powerful splashing attack. Would that be better than what I'm doing now?

I will be posting it in a few minutes, so you can see for yourself. :P

If you do not wish to see players spend the whole game transformed, then yes, what you suggest is a good idea.

The single-target buff is way too random. I think its utility will be much dimished by your never knowing what you'll get. If I were you, I would either standardise the effect, or decide on a primary effect that you can be certain of getting, and then a few secondary effects that you may get if you are lucky.

On another note, could the creep-boosting skill be something other than a gravestone? I like the skill, but the flavour text does not make much sense to me. Do these guys carry their gravestones with them into battle or what? :P

Ok, I'll have one select buff and a few others that may appear at random. Which do you think would be best for the set one? Damage?

For the gravestone, I couldn't realy tihkn of a better way to honor a dead soldier :/ I was thiknig banner, but that could be easily confused with the Warlord's banner...

I'll comment on your hero now, I skimmed over him and he seemed quite interesting.

EDIT- Ok, he's officially ready, thanks for an inspiratino for an ultimate!

Well, whatever you want him to be focussed on most!

Quote: For the gravestone, I couldn't realy tihkn of a better way to honor a dead soldier :/ I was thiknig banner, but that could be easily confused with the Warlord's banner...

It doesn't have to be a physical thing. It could be a burst of energy that triggers upon death. The flavour text could just say something like, 'The devotion of the Yatoihei's men, even unto death, is an inspiration to all his allies. When a unit controlled by the hero dies, all friendly units (not heroes) nearby will gain a temporary etc.'

I like the new ultimate a lot. Using creeps is a great idea.

By the by, what does the class name mean, actually?

Mercenary. I tohught it suits the model nicely, and the way he works, a seasoned warrior, having a different training regime for his soldiers, very good at commanding troops, and is powerful himself. I'll see about your idea for skill three, I kinda like gravestones though. :P

    Good and useful ability. :D

No no no random stuff nearly always sucks, no need for skill, just luck. Hope you get what I mean ;)

Good ability too, but I think gravestones don´t fit very well, did samurai use gravestones (I don´t know :?: ).

Not a bad idea, but I think it won´t work out in game. It will be way too weak.

I kind of agree, which is why I suggested to him to standardise the buff(s).

They did, but not in battle, I'm sure. :P

I think you may be mistaken here. Even late game, creeps hurt a lot; when pushing or defending against a big push, this ability will certainly force most targets to run or die. Perhaps all it needs is a small slow, to make it harder to run away.

    Re: Hero : Yatoihei

    Metal Sonic - 10.06.2006, 20:54

Random ability will be fixed, and I've been meaning to add a slow to the ulti, I forgot about it originally. I'll see about fixing the gravestones too, I'd like to keep it an object of some sort that's destroyable, any suggestions?

    Re: Hero : Yatoihei

The fallen creeps' daisho, maybe? As you know I do not like Ashigaru having daisho in the first place, but since they do, it is only logical to use them in a 'my death strengthens the whole'-type ability.
