Arjan,
this should be a US - part, because the "-1LH" (Left Hand) was used by american manufacturer. Of this part was a part for the other side "-2RH" (Right Hand) build.
Regards
Nils

Yes, this is correct. But "SP" was used on the inspector stamps.
I have not information that Whitley has used this letter in their part numbers. I have also never seen a "LH" or "RH" on british aircraft part numbers.

Nils

Nils - I have a small Whitley parts- the SP is on their part numbers!
I have a small piece of stainless - which is dual on Albemarle and Whitley- it has an SP number on the back XXXX'd out - and an AW number on the front.

This looks like part of the internal frame of a B17E or F top turret. Might be worth checking the manuals. i think it was part of a big triangular casting.

Nils - my wife has taken the camera and gone out for the day - I will post pictures another day.
The parts I have with SP on them are
Tail assembly - SP 69002 then 39756 then ISS.4 and an inspectors stamp with DLR4.
Small stainless part - SP 9101-1 - all XXXXd out. On reverse - AW 9101 with Inspectors stamp 30.. H B rest indistinct.
It is sure that the part being discussed is likely from a B17 turret - it does not appear to be from a Whitley.
But it is also clear that SP part numbers do exist and were used on Whitley and Albemarle.
