Hi there
I am new to this forum and would like some help to identify this compressor recovered from a field in Lincolnshire England. It was attached to some form of casting, but it had been removed when it was given to me. There is lots of stamps and marks on it, also some pencil writing on both halfs (E90M).

Hi Ollie,
this is a Heywood Air Compressor from the R.H. cylinder head of a Rolls Royce Merlin XX engine (possible use on other engines).

Thanks pathfinder, i know hydramatic made them aswell. Is there any way of telling what type of aircraft this was fitted to? I have seen them fitted on the spitfire, were they used on all merlin engined aircraft? Lancasters ect.

Hi Ollie,
i dont know if its the same model but according to this link the Heywood Air Compressor was a standard fitting on British aircraft

This was indeed fitted to alot of Merlin engined Raf types.

Yep on bristol hercules also.
its also used as an air "guncompressor" tot power the guns
