Hi,
years ago I found an airplane (Lancaster) and now I would to know if the members of this board can help in answering the following questions. (It would be awesome!)
What type of Lancaster is it? (Mk. I Mk. II…)
Where was this plane build? Any idea?
I hope you can help me.
Greetings strophi

These pictures show a couple of items I already could identify. Maybe it helps.
I also found Ammo (.303 browning) with these codes.
RG 1943 WI = Royal Ordnance Factory, Radway Green, Armour Piercing Mk I
K 43 WI = see above
K5 1942 BVIIZ = ICI Kynoch, Kidderminster, Incendiary Mk VII, SR 43 BVIIZ = Royal Ordnance Factory, Spennymoor, Rest w.o.
K4 44 GV = Tracer Mk V, night tracer, air service, 550 yards

Sadly this are all typical Lancaster, or British aircraft part.
I think with this parts it is not possible to identify the type of a/c...
This plate should be from driftmeter or bomb sight
This is from a fuel gauge of the smallest fuel tanks Port and starboard No. 3
with 114 imperial gallons

strophi,
please do not give any detail of exactly where this crashsite is, but can you give us the general area where you found these parts?
do you have any information about this aircraft?, like date of the crash?
it might be possible to trace it by that method
Regards
Roy

Thaky for the answers.
Some facts about the airplane.
crashsite: about 100 km(60 miles) northeast of Berlin
people one board: somebody said 7 (nobodys know`s if it ist right! but it could be because the bomber has normaly 7 members)
date of the crash: no idea. the only help could be the ammo that I found. It was manufatured in the years 1943 an 1944.
That ist all I know. Sorry.

The reason you do not post exact locations is because some folks will come and dig the plane in a Nacht und Nebel Aktion. This plane could potentially hold the remains of missing aviators and I have seen human remains thrown back into the hole and the plane wreck looted so the parts could be sold to collectors. If you need this in German, e-mail me at aviation.archaeologist@gmail.com

strophi, sorry ive only just seen your question.
the reason for not giving exact locations of wreck sites is as
stated by Danny.
some people have no respect for these remains.
thank you Danny.

Do you mean the explainanation in german?
Ok now I know why I am shouldn`t tell the crashside. I cann`t understand the people who would do something like this. The items i found where just under a couple of leaves.
Is it possible to find out when this plane crashed? Probaly not or?

If you send me the crash site, I will check my data base about a downed Lancaster in this area. I need then also some larger villages or cities in the near of the crash site.
You can send me the location here via PM.
Maybe you can find a time- or eyewitness who can tell you more. You can also check the local archives and historian.
