Come on. We've all read those pathetic attempts at jounalism, when they talk to Mick. I often read these and think, with my lack of education, I could still do a better job than those people
So, from a publication perspective:
"WHAT QUESTION WOULD YOU PUT TO MICK?"
Forget those ones on what colours are your undies......
What would my question be? I'll have to think about that. I have so many. Look forward to your questions. :D :D :-D :-D

My question would be: Are you EVER coming back to the U.S. & if so, WHEN???????? Also, why don't you tour the U.S. as extensively as you do the rest of the world when you have lots & lots of fans here??

OH ROSIE!!!! :-D
hmmm my question:
In concert...your last song is as great as the first song you performed...how do you maintain all that energy and drive throughout the concert?
Re: If you were a Journalist, what would you ask Mick?
simplymichi - 29.05.2006, 19:08
A rather tricky question:
Of your own songs, which one would you say is the "best" :top and which is the "worst" :flop ? ---> Oooops, I think that's impossible to answer, so maybe I have to think about a better question??? *shrugs-shoulders*

I'd ask...you've been all over the world many times....
who were the most respectful fans who were great audiences and also made you feel like they were listening, singing and dancing along with you and the band ?
then I'd say thanks for the music and lyrics and that heavenly voice.

Tough one, Pat...there's been so many questions asked of the man over these years he's graced us with his talent...
Right.
"You've been in this business for over 20 years now. Do you still feel the same fervent passion for creating and performing music as you did in the beginning?"
Would really like to know the answer to this, actually...those of you who have the vintage interviews, compare how he was in the early days to now, what he talked about then and what's on his mind these days...and I'll leave my thoughts there.

That's a good one, and he did answer this type of question recently during one of the CUBA interviews where he said he actually felt "renewed" and inspired to continue writing, performing, and touring feeling fresh and excited about music all over again.
I think it was also mentioned on the DVD after he sang solo while Ian played the piano, I think it was the BBC show recorded in December.

"Mick, you've been performing for more than 20 years now, and you know how to send your fans wild.
Can you remember ever spotting a person in the crowd doing something so silly you struggled not to laugh in the middle of a song?
And what about the opposite? Have you ever been moved by someone while on stage?"

Hi and welcome here Francesca !!
One of the funny stories I heard was at a concert when a girl unbuttoned her shirt to expose her naked breasts, the story goes....he tells the girl
"Hey honey, this is MY show, not yours".....and she buttoned up.

Great topic and vreta responses. I have been missing form the forums a bit lately~ life is too hectic. But this was a fun one to read.
Gosh, I have no idea what I would ask Mick~ I do like Mishi's question about which he feels is his best and worst songs he has wrote. And I would want to know why he felt as such.
Lin~ LOL at your "breast" story. Can't you just hear him say that! Too funny.
Thanks for a great topic!

Hey, Lin, I remember hearing about that flasher...the response was classic Mick. :D
He could have been more lighthearted about it...reminds me of the AC/DC show I saw on the Ballbreaker tour at the Gund Arena in Cleveland. This one lady with huge jugs noticed that the jumbotron cameras were on her (they were doing audience shots every so often), and she took the opportunity to show off her assets. The whole band started cracking up in the middle of their song, the lead singer was pointing and laughing...and security had that lady out of there in about 15 seconds. The lead singer made a face like, "Aw, c'mon, I was enjoying that..." :devil
That whole show was a gas from start to finish. Loads of fun! :top
(Got to see it for free, too, 'cause my friend and her other half threw the pyro for the show.)

Hi Gina~
Life is just busy, I don't know where the time goes. The girls are out of school now and so we are doing summer things.....playing at the park, swimmimg, listening to SR while we are out in the sun :) We are also preparing to move to a new house in about 4 weeks so that has kept me busy~ selling one house and getting things ready for another. Crazy! It seems computer time is the first thing to get pushed aside. But I try to pop in an read what is going on.
Hope you are doing well and enjoying summer so far. I can't wait to start reading the concert reports that will be coming in soon as everyone lucky enough to go see Mick and the band will share their experiences with us poor folk in the US who can't get away to see them :( Maybe Someday......no pun intented......wow, I love that song :) ANd the video is quite nice as well. Brings a smile to my face!
Have a great day Gina!

Sorry to hear you're so busy - but I think it's great that you got a new house!! Congratulations! Glad to hear you're having fun with your girls. Do you also work as well?? Haven't started enjoying my summer yet - the weather here's been crap. I'm looking forward to my week off in July when I head to tennis camp. Yeah, I wish SR would get their butts here already! I'm getting tired of waiting......
Do you have any vacation plans this summer?
Re: If you were a Journalist, what would you ask Mick?
night nurse - 15.06.2006, 01:33
Tennis camp! FUN~ I always wanted to play tennis but I am so uncoordinated which is why I became a marathon runner instead :) All you have to do is go forward~ much less confusing
My only job is that of a mom, wife and I am on the Board of Directors with our local running club as Chair of Publicity. It keeps me busy. I am a nurse by profession but "retired" after having my youngest daughter nearly 7 years ago. I am blessed to be able to stay home and be with the girls. My husbands schedule is crazy (he is a doctor) and so I need to be accessible to the girls and their schedules. Sometimes I laugh that I will go back to work to get away from the kids when they are driving me nuts but I am grateful to be able to be with them.
We are heading out west for vacation next week. Badlands, Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone etc. Should be fun. My girls would love for SR to be their very first concert and they would be able to sing every last song. They are true Mick fans and they just love Dee and Sarah~ they pretend to be them when they do Karaoke! Too cute.
Well, I guess I should shut up and let the thread get back to business :) Thanks for the chat Gina! I'll try to be around a bit more and keep up on things!

Hey, Angie, great to hear from you! Glad you're doing alright...and I hear you big time on the busywork of moving...I pick up my moving truck tomorrow to take most of my earthly possessions to storage. So I'm up to my neck in last-minute packing!!!! And I haven't been around much either, don't feel bad. Just remember to check in on all the new press n' stuff in the 'Extra, Extra' section when you get the chance, to get in the loop.
Back to the budding journalism. :D

Oh I probably do, but a digress ................................
Hey, I keep missing these good posts......
Lots of the stories were in the lost days....
of drink and pubbing with some of the
bad boys in the 90's.....
but all that is adolescent history now,
like most of us dredging up sludge from
our younger days when we did things
we'd rather purge from our memory files.
We're all growing up now, and are upstanding
citizens of the world (well, we are getting there)....
It's almost like the days of our youth are becoming the
"days....we did WHAT ??? omigod..."
(dance, drink expensive wine, eat rich artery clogging foods, more dancing and singing, wake up naked in front of your nephew.....geeze)
Those are the times chalked up to growing up, time we thought that nothing was worth passing by, experience everything, we are invincible.
All of a sudden it's time to sing the songs related to maturity, deeper voices, grounded expectations, family and creating generations to inherit the fruits of our labor.....(that's the gist of how I read Mick these days.)
So on life goes.....we hope it goes well for a new red baby....
and the lovely mamma......
so old stories die on the vine......drink the good wine while it's just fine.
Love,
Lin xxx

the last concert I went to that had pyro on the stage was horrible to breath afterwards for the entire floor crowd in front of the stage.....
had to keep the front of my tee shirt over my nose but my eyes were crying down my face from the aftersmoke and debris.
It's difficult not to show your points if you've had a few brew gulps....
especially those drop-down tube tops, easy up, easy down...
sure gets those semi's to honking their horns on the highway for fun.

I digress.....

I think you are right on your take on Mick Lin~ and you know, that is to be expected. We can't all revel in the frivolity of youth forever. At some point we all should grow up per say. What I honestly love though is listening to his catalog of music from Picture Book thru Simplified and seeing how he has gone from that young, raspy cad of "Infidelity" times to the mature, family wanting Mick of today. I think it is a wonderful progression and that his true fans do appreciate all the phases of his writings and singing. And yes~ we all do love when he shows us peaks of that youthful cad with little growls (show me), spins (my feet begin to shake) and sexiness (gonna do it to ya slow, much harder though). All part of what makes him a fascinating man and wonderful performer.

Wow, I think it's great that you're a stay-at-home mom - that's the toughest job of all!! Didn't know you were REALLY a nurse :D And you're married to a doctor - how sweet! That's cool that you're a runner - I was never good at that. I have to run to hit the ball in tennis & that's where I usually falter - I'm just not a fast runner :-(
Have fun on your vacation - enjoy that fresh mountain air!!

Yep, this was indoor pyro. (Back in...2001???? Can't remember the year, whenever the Ballbreaker tour was.) There was this gargantuan statue of Angus Young in the back of the stage...it shot fireworks out of the guitar's headstock and fire out of Angus' mouth. (Plus the eyes glowed this demonic red.) There were also bursts along the stage and catwalk, if I recall. It was awesome!! And not much smoke to report--our seats were right by the catwalk, we would have choked if there was. Hi there Shan~ glad to hear your move is done for now and you are in travel mode! How exciting. When do you head across the pond for the concerts?
We move on July 17 and the girls are doing very well with the idea. They have a lot of friends out there and look forward to it. They also have picked out the paint colors for their rooms! Fun.
Have a super summer, enjoy your travels and be sure to pop in to let us know what you are up to!

I fly outta here a week from Thursday, lift to the airport courtesy of Yo-Yo (knokkak). First concert 2 days later!
Hey--did you get my e-mail about the shows? :D PM me with your answer...
That's great that the girls are taking the move well, I was never keen when I was a kid...but then I did it quite a bit. What colors did they pick for their rooms?
And hey, to get this back on topic--ask the girls what THEY would ask Mick if they were journalists. From the mouths of babes... :D :D :D
Will check in when I can. Thanks for the kind thoughts!
