ive found a few of these. they are made of steel and ive been told they are from the aircraft battery.
does anybody know if this is correct?

I can´t confirm that this parts was fixed on the battery, but I have found a lot of parts from batteries on german, british and american crash sites, but every parts was made of lead. I´m sure all parts from batteries was made of lead.

these are heavy like lead but they are not easy to mark, so i assumed they were steel. maybe not?

Hello Roy, I've found the same parts at an Airacobra site but havn't a clue what they are! I think they are lead and my gues was out of some sort of instrument because they look formed to a close tolerance. That is a pure guess though.

Hi Ian, i agree. i did have doubts about them, they look too well engineered to be battery parts, terminals etc. they look as though they just sit in or on something, as there are no sign of them being held in place by anything.
its interesting that you found the same thing on a totally different type of aircraft. the mystery deepens
