Due to the releasing of his melodic project PLACE VENDOME, we got in touch with "the voice" Michael Kiske for him to talk about "Streets Of Fire" and his future plans. This is what the artist told us.

    - HoM: Michel, your voice sounds really spectacular, crystalline...What is your secret to keep it so fit after so many years?

No idea; but I never drink alcohol and never smoked. Maybe that helped.

    - HoM: People from Brother Firetribe or Work Of Art have participated in the composition of this new work. Did you know those bands? What is your opinion about the songs they’ve written?

Very good songwriting and nice melodies.

    - HoM: Apart from your voice, what is your contribution to the second album of Place Vendome?

    Just my singing.

    - HoM: In the previous album you complained about the fact that the final production was different from what you wanted. What do you think about Dennis Ward’s work in this occasion? Is it more similar to you taste?

I was also fine with the first one, I personally would just not over blow the guitars that much. I don't like it when it gets too heavy. But this is better on this one, even though my vocals are on some songs a bit to low in level, so they don't have the right energy anymore.

    - HoM: "Dancer", “Follow Me”, “Believer” or “Streets Of Fire” are some of the best tracks of the album, they have an AOR and 80s touch, are very catchy but modern at the same time. What are your favourite songs in the album?

Apart from “Streets of Fire” (which is not a favourite of mine) I would add “Guardian Angel” and “I'm A Believer” to it.

    - HoM: Would it be possible that Place Vendome’s members joined to make any concert or that is totally impossible? Would you do it in the main 3 or 4 summer festivals if they offered a great sum of money or that does not depend on you?

I am not planning to go on stage with this. I will only go on stage with my own music on free and unbound stages when the time is right.

    - HoM: There are some rumours that say you’re not going to participate in the third Place Vendome’s album, however this album has been considered as one the best albums of 2009 by many critics. Wouldn’t be painful for you to leave the ship now that many people are expectant for listening to more material? Is that “no” definitive?

I don't know who brought that up, but if there is a third one in planning and the material is good and Serafino wants me to do it, I am sure I'll do it.

    - HoM: Have you got any relation with your old Helloween partners? What do you think about their albums without you as a singer?

I never checked them out. I intentionally ignored them. I only know maybe three songs that became videos when their were more successful. And from what I've hared: Not much my cup of tea.

    - HoM: Your growing apart from metal style was conscious and many people missed you for many years, but recently you’ve collaborated with Avantasia, Revolution Renaissance... Did you miss this style? What has changed for you to come back to the music that made you so famous?

It was never really me hating everything that calls itself ''metal'' musically. How we label music doesn't say much anyway. Most of it is just rockmusic to me. And I can still enjoy a good rocking song. I only do have a huge problem with the HM-scene in general, because of its wrong ideologies, the often satanic and art-enemy spirit.

    - HoM: In the thread of this, I have to mention your recent acoustic album remembering Helloween songs. Tell us a bit about this album and the reason of releasing an album of covers.

It's not really containing ''Helloween songs'', it contains MY songs which I gave to Helloween. Some of them were already written before I even joined the band. I wanted to make those songs mine again; and that turned out very nice. I don't allow my personal disappointments with that band to make me reject my own music of that time.

    - HoM: I’ve always been curious about what your favourite Rock or heavy Metal bands or albums are. Could you tell us any?

“Achtung Baby” from U2 is certainly one of the best rock-records ever. When it comes to metal it has got to be Iron Maiden “Piece Of Mind”, Judas Priest “Screaming for Vengeance” and many others.

    - HoM: Is there any young rock band that calls your attention and you think can have a promising future?

I don't follow the scene much, so I can't tell. I am sure there are a few. I just got into Oasis a lot. Their last single “I'm Outta Time” got me, now I have all their records.

    - HoM: How is a normal day in Michael Kiske’s life?

Waking up around 8 or 9 o´clock, doing some reading of a good book and then maybe music or writing down some thoughts into the computer ... When I stand up later, the day is often lost. I need a good meaningful start into the day. That's essential for me.

    - HoM: What about your band Supared? Any future plan?

That was really also just another Kiske-Record, only with a band-name sneaked in. It was one of those tries by me to form a band, which doesn't work; they happen or they don't. It's totally fine with me now being a solo-artist doing projects here and there.

    - HoM: What is the next thing you’re preparing? Maybe a solo album? Any collaboration?

Both. I am working on a Kiske-Album again and also another project is planned with a female singer.

    - HoM: This is all Michael, thank you very much for your time. Do you want to say something to our readers?

    Thanks to you too!
