Sad making... I'm glad such time are over!

I didn't watch all the videos till their end (I'm too tired and not that healthy and at the moment to weak to cope with such horror) but already the first few seconds are enough to make me angry and feel sorry... :(

    over?

oh well, there are still Christian schools on reservations ... and trust me, still things are happening that shouldn´t happen ...

did you know that in Canada 1979 there were still 12 Residential Schools existing (1.899 pupils). The last one got closed back in 1996 in Saskatchewan.

From 1990 on the general publicity got aware of what had happened and the first people went to court. 1991-1993 there was an investigation by the Royal Commission on Aboriginal Peoples and they found out about all the bad things First Nation People had to go through. In 2008 there was an official excuse published by the government!

During investigation they also found graves ... means lots of Indian died while living there ... they comitted suicided or died from mysteries injuries. There were at least 237 graves from three schools. And there were hundreds of these damned institutions in both Canada and the USA.

so it´s over? No, it´s not! Still so many people - even in my age or younger - are still suffering from these schools! Searching for their identity and belonging nowhere these people have immense problems with living a "normal" life which they have a right on to do ...

so it´s still going on somehow ... :(

    http://www.cbc.ca/video/popup.html?http://www.cbc.ca/mrl3/8752/news/features/harper-apology-080611.wmv

    read this:

"Why couldn't all government officials apolized to the Native People in this country and not only Mr. Harper?
I ask myself this question, is Mr Harper really sincere to his apology?
It really breaks my heart to see and hear what the Native people had to endure. Every time I see a priest and its followers, I wonder, are they for real?
Were they involved? How many inocent children had to die before this was even recognized? But you see not only residential schools were like that, there were many foster homes as well.........No amount of money can never replace the tragady that Native people have to go through before our time."

"I was 5 years old (1954)when I first walked into the residential school in Norway House.
For the next ten years in that monsterous uncaring and cold excuse for a school, I suffered sexual, physical, and mental abuse.
I first started talking about my experiences approx. 15/16 years ago. I have been on my journey for the last 28 years and it sure has been extremely painful due to having to re-live the past.
Regarding the compensation, I feel cheated and re-victimized. How does one justify for locking up, numbering and unlawfully confining an innocent 5 year old? Throughout those years I kept wondering what crime I had committed for them to take away my freedom!!!!
But enough of the sharing of what I went through. I'm sick of that! It also sickens me for those in authority(state and church) to keep telling me to HEAL. Shouldn't the perpetrator also heal so then the cycle of abuse is broken?
But then...I guess its too below them to admit to committing countless murders and not living up to obligations through agreements,etc.. There is evidence of thousands and thousands of native boys and girls who were murdered while in a Canadian Institution(res. school).
Those children NEVER made it home! This is why I cannot accept an apology that does not carry sincerity and does not state the Perpetrator will take ownership of past perverted actions."
