And by another, I mean the newly self-inflated, even more puffed-up man child that is George Bush. With a clear popular vote majority, and as of this, an all but certain electoral majority, George Bush will stroll into the next four years with the belief that every thing he does is golden. You know, the George Bush that eats babies for strength and takes no flack.
What's bizarre to me is that we do live in two Americas. In one America, citizens listen to Howard Stern, download more and more internet porn, lust after underage girls like Lindsay Lohan and vote for John Kerry. In the other America, citizens vote for Bush, then go home to Howard Stern, internet porn and Lindsay Lohan. Ok, maybe they like Hilary Duff. Either way, we wake up to an America that votes against abortion, gay marriage and social services but can't stop consuming media content like The Swan.
We live in depressing times. Forget the social overhaul that will come from a Bush Supreme Court. Let's focus on the crushing financial burden Bush is saddling our country with while he cuts taxes and spends more money. Let's focus on the fact that Bush's "leadership at home" is leading to a complete inability to lead abroad. And that has a crushing impact on our own home economy, as the states that finance our tax cuts by purchasing bonds, bidding up the dollar and floating our debt lose confidence in our ability to make the right decisions. Wrong headed decisions on abortion, gay marriage and social issues can be reversed by the pen after affecting maybe a single generation. An ongoing collapse of our economy will take many generations to overcome, and leave the world in a vacuum only encouraging unstable rogue states to amass arsenals of nuclear weapons and rally behind their own ultra conservative, delusional leaders.
