Hey, I'm new to the site and have only just discovered Iron Savior, which has made me a very happy metal fan. I'm always looking for new bands to listen to and was wondering whether anyone had some suggestions as to who to check out. I'm a big Gamma Ray fan. I also bought the Persauder album Evolution Purgatory but I didn't enjoy that so much. I'm not a fan of that vocal style, never really liked Pantera, although the musical style was good. I'm also into Helloween, Manowar, Pink Cream 69 and Thunderstone. If you think you have any suggestions of new bands for me to check out I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi, I would myself definatly suggest that you check out Masterplan (Roland and Uli/Ex Helloween) for very cool Melodic Metal and perhaps also Primal Fear (Ralf Scheepers/Ex Gamma Ray) for Powermetal. For more kind of Happy Metal, but not in a negative sense at all check out Edguy! 8)

I rather like Kamelot as well, though they often try to be more progressive than power metal. (And in their new video they seem to have suddenly become Metallica.) Try getting Center of the Universe from http://www.noiserecords.com - it was the song that got me in to them.
Silent Force are also fantastic - the album "Worlds Aparts" has some of the best layered vocals I've ever heard.
Additionally, there are some more "symphonic" power metal bands which attempt to write in an almost classical style than Iron Savior, Gamma Ray and so on - Stratovarius, Nightwish, Sonata Arctica. Dragonforce sort of falls between the two styles.

As I couldn't list my entire collection there was bound to be a few I already have, such as Stratovarius, most of their albums in fact, Edguy, Hellfire Club was a great album, Dragonforce, good but only a couple of songs stood out on the last album and Primal Fear. I bought the last Primal Fear album but have to say it was quite weak in places. Certainly not as good as previous songs of theirs that I've heard.
As for Masterplan they are a band that I've been meaning to get around to for a while but was dubious as to whether it would be any good. After hearing your endorsements however i'll give it a go and post my response when i've formulated an opinion.
I'll definately check out all the other bands you recommended, funds allowing, sorry, wife allowing.
Rock on my brothers in metal!
