how did you get into Savior?
First of all, Hi to everyone on the site, and Hi to all of Iron Savior!

Rock on my brothers and sisters!

I think I was listening to a gamma ray, album and I saw a thankyou to iron savior.I kind of forgot about this until I saw the cd on display in an independent record shop. The guy played it for me, it was a track called Never say die, I bought the album and have been lost on the path of metal ever since! This band has led me to find many others, so thanks you guys for being here!

    Hi!

My first metal-CD was "Somewhere far Beyond" from Blind Guardian and after a little while I bought me "Powerplant" from Gamma-Ray. Months later I knew all the bandmembers from these two bands and how they look like and I was just looking around for new metal-CDs in a shop. I found a CD called "Iron Savior". On the back there was a picture from Piet, Thomen (BG) and Kai (GR). I thoght "Hey, two guys of my favourite bands". I listened to it and I really loved it. Then came Conditon Red and Battering Ram and Dark Assault and the other ones will come soon :D . Bye

Hi there! Well I got into them after buying Condition Red for the bargain price of 50p:) Now im hooked on Iron Savior!

Well, a couple of years ago, Iron Maiden was the only band I really was a fan of, and I thought that they were the nearest thing to my "ideal" style of music that existed. I was on the Dark Lyrics site looking for some of their lyrics, and noticed Iron Savior as the next band down from them.

"Here's some nu-metal trash pretending to be Iron Maiden", I thought, but some of the lyrics intrigued me, and I wanted to know more about them. Off I went to Amazon to listen to a sample MP3, I clicked on Condition Red... and was surprised! The sound was nothing like what I had expected at first, it was far more melodic and musically valid than any other modern metal band that I had heard at the time.

So I ordered Condition Red and the original CD (Dark Lyrics lists it as "Protect Atlantis and Conquer the Alliance", but I haven't seen it called that anywhere else) and started spreading the word that Iron Savior did indeed seem to be the savior of modern metal!

I heard "Forces of Rage" by this band Iron Savior somewhere online back in 1998 when Unification came out and i thought it was killer.

I always like knowing more about bands & its memers. Well, when in the later 1999 I read the history of creating GammaRay, I learnt that Kai worked for some time with Blind Guardian. When I tried to know more about this band (of course, I bought BG albums & loved them - Kai will not do with bad music%)), I knew that Thomen & Kai (partly - Hansi) joined new band Iron Savior. What I knew about author of idea? I read something like that: 'Multiinstrumentalist Piet (produser of ... and bla-bla of what he was doing all the 12-13 years), Kai (his old friend) & some famous misicians (so on).

Well, here you're - I'm a true fan of IS since!

Wow, wonderful stories! :D They're all so... "by chance" kind of stories, and I wonder how life would be without Savior lol :P

Anyway, I became a big fan of Gamma Ray when I was 12 (going 13). I loved the music and I knew this was the music for me :D It changed my life (for the better) and I kept on looking for more CDs of them here in Nepal (which is outrageously difficult!). On the "Somewhere Out In Space" CD, I heard Piet's voice and read somewhere that 'Watcher in the Sky' had also be done by a band called "Iron Savior". I downloaded 'Atlantis Falling', but never took too much notice of it. (I know, i was atlantis from the beginning lol). Even on the SOIS CD, Piet's voice never seemed to grab me. Until one day...

This particular day, I was feeling very science-fiction-ish. The entire SOIS album took my to different lands lol and I felt the power in those words - "hooked on to the circuit".

Then while hunting for CDs (and I thought I saw IS before somewhere), I found Unification. That was it. The music just blew me out!! It's wonderful - it made me feel good about myself and this was another band I know would be a part of me.

    lol And that's how I got in :P It's really a wonderful experience! :D

I'd been a Helloween fan for a long time since Walls..era, and I liked Blind Guardian's 3rd at that time, then I bought IRON SAVIOR's 1st album in 1997. And started listening to it then cannot stop it!
Now I'm still listening to IS everyday :D :D :D

As a hughe Blind Guardian fan I knew, that Thomen had joined this [those days] "new" Heavy Metal formation called "Iron Savior".. I listen to the record, and hey, I liked it from the beginning. That's the story so far.. ;)

well, it was kinda odd really. I was in limewire typing up random song names i could download. I was looking for a new band to check out. i typed in, never say day. Bloop. there was iron savior. I was like, "whats this?" opened it, and i was blown away. then i went to amazon and previewed more of their stuff, and was like, dude, these guys ROCK! So i spent a crap load of money and bought all the albums that they had of iron savior. I was hooked right off the bat. You see, while everyone else where i live just downloads albums, i prefer to download a song and preview it, and if i like it, i preview the rest on amazon. If i like them, then i buy the album. I dont like to download whole songs off of file sharing programs cuzz i'm impacient. Plus, the albums have all the extra goodies with them!

Re: how did you get into Savior?

    Eh...
The first time I listened to Iron Savior I hated them.

Then the second time I listened to them, I hated them.

Then the THIRD time I listened to them, I still hated them.

It was the fourth time that was a charm. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea why I listened to them that much. I don't really like music, and I certainly didn't like rock/metal. The first CD I ever owned was "Condition Red," and I have listened to it probably 1000+ times.

But, I must say I am impressed with IS. They have grown on me. The bands dedication to their fans (Well, at least in the 'ask the band' part of the site; and I'm sure they don't mind signing stuff [like underwear]), and the way they approach things is impressive.

    Re: Eh...
USArmy wrote: I don't really like music, and I certainly didn't like rock/metal.

Nothing personal, but... really? That sounds so strange to me... I can't remember a day of my life without music. When I was a little child (and here we go with the story of my life!  ), my father used to listen to a lot of classic and opera stuff, especially on Sunday, when he was home from work. I started studying music when I was about 8 or 9 and I guess I was the only 9 years old child who begged Mom to go twice to the cinema to see Jesus Christ Superstar! Then my sister (who's 9 years older than me) started listening to stuff like Peter Gabriel, Genesis, The Who and she had to stand me stealing her tapes and records, poor girl... I saw my first live show when I was 13, it was a great Peter Gabriel show and I still remember it as if it was yesterday. Music is a part of my life I could never do without, that's for sure.
The reason why I chose rock/metal as my fave kind of music, though I listen to a bit of this and a bit of that from classical stuff on, is very easy. For some personal reasons I've always been a very angry kid, I had so much rage inside and needed the right music to help me throwing it out. Nothing better than some metal for this purpose!
Oops... sorry for writing a book here...

    "Nothing personal, but... really?"

Yea, I didn't listen to music until I was 16. I still don't listen to it on the radio; just talk.

I've never been to a show. Unless you count the ones (orchestra) they take you to in elementary school.

About the start of last year, it must have been... I had just completed Sonic Adventure 2 and I was really getting into Crush 40 (not actually too bad - check them out if you ever have time, sadly I don't know anywhere you can get any previews or the like fo them).

I recall talking to our very own Wong Chung Bang (I knew him from ZZT, an old DOS game), and for some reason he sent me Titans Of Our Time. As soon as I opened the mp3, I was shocked - it sounded unlike anything else I had ever heard at the time! I was amazed, and instantly set about trying to get more songs.

Sadly, it is hard to get Iron Savior albums when you had never heard of Amazon, and the nearest music store that stocks them is about 70 miles away.

I started to stop listening to them for a while, then in March or so I discovered Gamma Ray and Iron Maiden - but nothing could top the time I heard Iron Savior for the first time. I got my own bank account in May, and ordered Iron Savior (Protect Atlantis, Crush Alliance) off Amazon. I never got bored of them, and the CD was in my CD player almost 24/7.

I was on holiday in England about 3 weeks ago, and I actually managed to find Dark Assault in Virgin Megastores for the bargain price of a fiver. I got Battering Ram a week ago after listening to Time Will Tell to death.

    And that's my story.

Oh, it was about a year ago. I had this song sent to me. It was No Heroes. I thought it was okay, because I wasn't a big fan of metal at the time. Then when I got the song Iron Savior, that's when I fell in love... <3

It's because of Iron Savior that I like metal now. ^_^

I didn't like heavy metal, I just listened pop-music, but one day, Danath, come to my home and told me: Hey listen this. Was an album of iron Savior (Unification), and I thinked, yeah.....it's good.... but actually, I didn't liked it so much...., but he recorded me a cassete with this album, and sometimes I listened some song, but, one day, I thinked, well, the music it's REALLY good, and the lyrics too.... and since that day, (about 5 years ago), I listen IS everyday, you're the gods, guys!

Hi to all of you metal maniacs and headbangers out there. hail to savior!

I discovered IS two years ago. I was listening almost to Priest music and a lot of heavy metal bands like helloween, gamma ray and so on. Came a day when a friend of mine told me about iron savior, i didn't know more about them. I just knew that Kai was playing guitar for that band. He gaves me the unification cd and when i had listened to that my first reaction was: Whaaaou!!!! A blast! Then i bought all their records in a raw. They became one of my today's favorite bands by far. Savior for life!!! Piet: Heavy metal powered mind! That's his way to be! :D

Somewhere around 3 years ago I've read album reviews and I also read some review about Iron Savior.....it seemed great so I found few songs on the net and listened them and IT WAS GREAT! Since then I listen them but it's hard to get good music here in Croatia....all I've found of Iron Savior is Condition Red :(
They don't have evene Helloween - The Time Of The Oath.....sux big time

I was lent a copy of No World Order by a friend and really got into Gamma Ray, about 3 years later I was reading an interview with Kai Hansen and he mentioned his work with Iron Savior. I thought "hey, if Kai Hansens involved it must be good". I bought Dark Assault of the internet and absolutely loved it. So since then, about 2 months ago, I've bought every album. I have to say Condition Red is my favourite, followed by Dark Assualt then Battering Ram.

Please keep up the great work Piet and the gang!

Well, I'm kind of a recent metal fan. I think I started with Nightwish, then I heard about a Metal Opera called "Aina - Days Of Rising Doom" (which is a great album!), and a friend of mine saw the name Tobias Sammet in the album ... and told me that he was from some band named Edguy, and sent me some songs... I loved it, and now I have about 92 songs from Edguy (that's almost the entire discography :P).

But with Iron Savior it was different. I was becoming a Power Metal fan, and my boyfriend, who now likes it almost as much as I do, made a music video about his Wrestling trainings, starring him and the other guys who train with him... and the song was Thunderbird, from Iron Savior ... well, when I saw the video, I immediately demanded him to send me the song. I was in love :P when I like a song, I get addicted to it for some days. That's what happened. Now I'm still getting to know Iron Savior, and I have about 13 songs from various albums. It's great! When are those guys coming to Portugal?? :D

Well, that's all for now. Stay cool, everyone

(by the way, and just for the record, the song from Iron Savior which I'm addicted to now, is "Made Of Metal" :P)

Well this is a weird story. I was at my friends house and we were scanning through his mp3 archive. We were both huge Iron Maiden fans. Then we found this song named "Iron Maiden - Take me home". But the singer sound nothing like Iron Maiden. So I googled the lyrics and found that the song was actually called Deadly Sleep and was an Iron Savior song. Before anybody could say "Metal" i had bought all there albums!

    Hail Iron Savior!!

Well, years ago I read about a new metal project from Kai Hansen, Thomen and a guy called Piet (I only knew him as a producer 'til that day) in a german metal mag. A few weeks later I bought their CD and the rest ist history.

BTW: I had the chance to meet Piet and Piesel at a pre-listening party for the Condition Red in Hamburg, was a strange day because in the afternoon we already met Blind Guardian in Hannover.

    Greeting

 wow, I´m astounded to see so many "new" metal fans.

I´ve been listening to metal since the early eighties, first Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Deep Purple and such, later Helloween of course, and Gamma Ray, and somehow Iron Savior came about naturally, then.

They rock big time, imo. :)

I wish some metal would come to Berlin, too...sometimes I miss the nineties, when at least some power/speedmetal bands found their way here. :(

Re: how did you get into Savior?

    Roxy - 07.10.2005, 12:28

No metal in Berlin?? Don't know why, but I had the feeling metal band would stop often in Berlin... it's such a big town...
Here in Florence it's hard to see metal shows, bands almost always stop in Rome, Milan or Turin, with only a few exception who play in Florence... :?

Re: how did you get into Savior?

    metalamazon - 07.10.2005, 12:43

Ok, its not really true...we have a lot of metal concerts here, but mainly Death- and Blackmetal, or Mediveal metal. And of course we have some reginal melodic- speed- or powermetal bands who play here as well. Only the bigger Powermetal bands from other parts of Germany never seem to stop here. :(
Gamma Ray left us out on the two last tours. No Iron Savior for years?! When did Edguy play here last? Okies, Helloween and Rage played lately (in 2004, I think)

The list could go on forever.

I was really happy that Judas Priest played here, just around the corner from my home, in the Arena Treptow lately. That was fun, and I could walk home, so I could even drink some beers...skol! :)

Re: how did you get into Savior?

    Roxy - 07.10.2005, 14:32

....uh... let me think.... Gamma Ray: saw them three times in Florence, the last time as Iron Maiden's support at the end of 2003, if I'm not wrong. With this last tour they only played in Milano and I didn't go. Helloween played here several times, but with this last tour they will play only in Milan and Rome... As for the Savior I saw them anywhere but in Florence! They never played here and the last time they played in South Italy (deep south, I'd say... at the end of our country!! ) it was REALLY too far from here and I couldn't go there. But last winter I met Piesel here in Florence who was working as a Saxon tech....(and the Saxon show was cool!!)
This year has been pretty sad for metal and rock music here: no shows in Florence at all... except this weekend... I'll probably see Royal Hunt on saturday...

I think Piesel must be a great tech, I think I´ve seen them with almost every major band in the last twenty years or so. Did you talk with him?

And I think this year has been sad for metal everywhere, I wonder why. I mean there were far less fans in the nineties, but somehow it feels like there were more shows. :?

Re: how did you get into Savior?

    Roxy - 08.10.2005, 10:58

I'm sure Piesel is a good tech. All I can say is that he's a nice person. We aren't *best friends*, you know... but I know him since years and every time we meet he is always very kind and friendly. When I saw him in Florence last year, there was no chance to talk, just a fast *hi*, but it was nice to see him again. :D

As for shows, I suppose here the main problems are the venues and how much money the promoter needs to rent a venue. There are plenty of metal shows in Italy, but always in the same towns and same places. It's a pity most of all for those who live in the South. Living in Florence, if there's a show I REALLY wanna see, it's not such a big deal to travel to Milan (of course I can't do it every day, but once or twice in a year wouldn't be a problem), but for those who lives in the south it's almost impossible. Italy is a veeeery *long* country and reaching Milano from Napoli takes quite a long time (and it's expensive!). The result is that southern fans don't see shows at all, while people in Milano could see a different show every week.... :?

Re: how did you get into Savior?

    atlantis - 18.10.2005, 15:41

Heck, I could go live in Southern Italy and be excited that there's a show in my country. Know what I mean? ;) lol! :D

I need to get all powermetal fans to Nepal for a week... and the bands, of course!

Of course, it would be a lot easier if I came to Europe instead

    Accomodation? In London??? Impossible!

You better get them there just in time for the gig, and find a flight back home right afterwards. It´s nearly impossible for normal ppl to pay for rooms in London. :?

Well, of course we are lucky to have bands playing in Italy, but it's really almost impossible for people in the south to see a show. Travelling from Palermo to Milano -where almost all the bands stop- means getting at least one/two days off to work, paying a lot of money for the train (and it's easier for me to travel to Germany crossing Austria, than for someone in Palermo to go to Milano by train!) or plane and for a place to stay (hotel, camping or whatever).
Not very funny for them....
