    Do you like computer games?
Hello guys, well, do you like computer games? What's your favourite?
Perhaps my favourite would be Doom or Quake, but the best is the game of Rocky (PS2)

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Wong Chung Bang - 26.05.2004, 20:59

I'm very much in to games (and have been for a while) - I have quite a collection of retro classics, see http://www.angelfire.com/alt/wong/retro.html for the list.

Currently I play Quake 3 quite a lot over the University network, at which I'm beaten quite badly. We don't have many players of that, though.

I'm quite a Japanese-style RPG fan, with things like Final Fantasy, Dark Cloud 2 and a less well known game called The Granstream Saga.

One of my more recognisable favourites has to be Carmageddon 2, as I find it fun to just be dropped in to a game area and left to do pretty much what I like.

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Rocky Balboa - 27.05.2004, 19:51

I like RPG games, I love Final Fantasy,, the best carmaggedon was the original.
Have you killed the red beast in the around the Gold Saucer?

Re: Do you like computer games?

    spiderman - 27.05.2004, 20:19

    my favourite games is :
    -twisted metal 2 (playstation 1)
    -landstalker (megadrive / genesis)
    -final fantasy saga
i have the game cube and playstation 2 , but i prefer the old video games .

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Rocky Balboa - 27.05.2004, 20:21

Hey Wong the red beast is in Final fantasy VII, remember?

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Wong Chung Bang - 27.05.2004, 20:38

The red beast... you know, I don't think I have. I've completed Final Fantasy 7, but I never did any of its subquests or anything.

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Yenz - 28.05.2004, 17:20

    Do You Like Video Games
I must admit that I've developed an unhealthy interest in Ego Shooters. Games like Soldier Of Fortune 2 (with extra blood/maim crack, of course), Deus EX, Max Payne and of course the Half-Life Series, all helped me become a much more relaxed person.

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Roxy - 28.05.2004, 17:44

    :o)
That's fun, Yenz! My sister says the same: some kind of games helps her to relax... she's a teacher of maths and physics at high school and she says killing people on the pc screen helps her not to kill her pupils at school!! :D I honestly don't know... I can't play with that stuff... if I seat for more than ten minutes in front of such a game, I vomit the hell out! It's like having a ride on roller coasters, it gives me headache and kinda vertigo... I know, I know... I'm simply getting too old for that stuff!

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Wong Chung Bang - 28.05.2004, 18:41

You get 3D sickness, Roxy? Not to worry... even the mighty Hideo Kojima of Konami suffers from that, so I'm told.

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Roxy - 28.05.2004, 19:14

    :o(
Thanks for your support, dear... I guess you could call me the 3DSickness Queen! I even have big problems when I travel, especially if I choose a boat... Train is the only stuff I can get without problems...

Re: Do you like computer games?

    atlantis - 02.06.2004, 07:23

lol a little late here and it's the 11th post for me  ... lol
Right then, Roxy, i'm sure you like the original Mario Brothers.. right? lol wow that is a classic lol.

Me, I'm a fan of strategy games without too much competition involved. lol I used to love Starcraft for a week (after which I started loosing). I love the Need for Speed series they're all amazing. Three is a very interesting one ;)
I want to play Homeworld, but I can't find it here lol.
Oh, and Bejeweled is also awesome lol  Use to play Unreal Tournament and Quake - mediocre at both - maybe I will later on as well.
And was a fan of Tomb Raider, especially part 2 - what an adventure!! :D

If anyone knows strategy games (in the likes of Settlers) in which you don't have to compete - more like economy building or something like that - please tell!!

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Roxy - 02.06.2004, 11:57

    :o)
Oh Yeah! I'm a Bejeweled champ!! Btw, I prefer stuff like Myst, where I gotta make my old brain work to find a few silly things... but at least I don't need to run, hide and shoot (that's what makes me sick! ). Actually I'm trying to learn to play chess and I have a nice program to play chess against the computer... guess who always wins... :(

Re: Do you like computer games?

    atlantis - 02.06.2004, 15:23

Ahh, i see  only Time will tell if there's be hea... a chance of you winning the machine! :P
Chess, play with me if you want a day full of smiles... you'll win me within 4 moves!!

Hey Roxy, what about Strategy games - like Settlers, very little fighting there. I'm looking around for non-competition games as well (as hard as they are to fine) lol :)

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Observador Celeste - 02.06.2004, 15:43

    LOK Fan
I have played videogames since I was a little kid (1980+/-), they're part of my life now, but due to that, I have developed some kind of anachronism; because I came from an era when games did not last for long; either you lost because the machine beat you eventually, (older games) or you finished it (shorter storage capacity, when games started having endings) so I can't enjoy a game that demands much time of me. It must be a game that you can get through from start to end in just a few hours tops. If not, it must really, really keep my interest somehow. For this reasons, I have came to love the Legacy of Kain Series. (Blood Omen 1 & 2, Soul Reaver 1 & 2 and Defiance). They are to me a real work of art; the environments, the temples and structures design, the character's outfits and personalities, everything! It is a beauty. I played them, and I was captured mainly by the story (which always intrigues you more and more). I just love them. I also collect arcade games to play on MAME. (So if anyone of you does also, interchange is welcome. ) I must say, I have hell a lotta them!

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Rocky Balboa - 02.06.2004, 20:44

    What's MAME?
    Dou you like arcade games?
    like Doom?
    I love shot'em up games.
If anyone thinks that it's too good playing any arcade game, (Doom, Wolfenstein.....), try to win me!!!
    I'm so good....(well I'd do my best)

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Observador Celeste - 02.06.2004, 22:55

    Arcades
"Arcade game" is a game who did not exist for any house console, only for machines you had to pay for playing (insert coin). You are referring to first person shooters, which by the way are definitely great, I love Doom, I've finished all versions.
MAME, is actually M.A.M.E. which stands for "Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator" It is an Italian project that's intended to take arcade games and emulate their functioning with a program, so you can play REAL arcades in your PC. Therefore, you can have like, say, the original Street Fighter arcade machine ROM, and play it on your PC; you even have to insert coins to it, and configure the DIP switches of the board itself. It's pretty cool indeed. Almost any game you had to pay to play is emulated by now, with certain exceptions; games must be three+ years old and no longer represent a profit source to the owner to be legally emulated. So you won't find year 2002 arcades, but from 197x to 2000, pretty much any game you can think of.

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Rocky Balboa - 03.06.2004, 18:36

You've finished all the Doom episodes????
How can you finich the last level in the Plutonia episode??
    It's impossible

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Observador Celeste - 03.06.2004, 19:50

    THE DOOM BOOM!
I am not sure if we played the same versions; I played them all on Playstation 1. If you play on Playstation also, tell me which level is Plutonia, and from which of Dooms (Doom, Doom 2, Final or Ultimate Doom, because they're soooooo many that I cannot remeber them by name) and I'll tell you how to pass, or at least I'll give you the code for next level.

Re: Do you like computer games?

    CYGNUS - 04.06.2004, 18:56

    My favorites are:

Every kind of flight simulation ( i know i already did it in real life but its my biggest passion, i like some combat simulator stuff sometimes)

also some kind of strategy and racing games...
And of course old games like snes, genesis...
I grow playing that games, i just love it...

You were talking about MAME games, somebody here remember the AFTERBURNER II game from arcade?? man, when i was young i spent mosy of my money on it,

Re: Do you like computer games?

    atlantis - 05.06.2004, 19:23

Flight simulation... and why not! Hey Cygnus, I wonder - how do you feel to actually be flying an aircraft - up in the air? - knowing you're controlling it - controlling the fate of so many , riding the air! Darn it, now I want to fly... :D

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Rocky Balboa - 06.06.2004, 21:21

The Plutonia experiment is an episode that is included in Doom 95 with another called TNT, remember?, the final level is gateaway of hell and it's impossible!
Hey Cygnus I missed you, what are you done?

Re: Do you like computer games?

    CYGNUS - 07.06.2004, 01:48

    Hey Atlantis...

Glad to know that somebody here likes flight simulation or real flight...
Man, i can't describe how i feel myself when i'm flying, sometimes is better than sex
About controlling the lifes of so many, well thats one factor that always will be on your mind, but if you feel yourself prepared and well trained,
that became so easy, sometimes i forget that is someone on the backseat and ofcourse, the responsability is not only yours, you have a partner, remembering and helping you all the time...
its interesting because when i enter on the cockpit its like a new world, a new reality, i forget all my life problems that i have on the ground...
The key is to be weel prepared and thrust on the machine that you're flying...

Unfortunately i never have the opportunity to listen to iron savior when i'm flying in real life, if i could that woul be awesome!

Re: Do you like computer games?

    CYGNUS - 07.06.2004, 01:51

Hey Rocky, looks like you are a true doom maniac!

I never had luck with this kind of games..
I will tell you a secret, the first time that i played doom i was 8 years old, and i was so scared, i got some nightmares with the game...

Re: Do you like computer games?

    atlantis - 07.06.2004, 05:33

lol Cygnus, I actually was fascinated after reading Arthur Hailey's book - "Airport". I was then (and still am, in some ways) a fan of flying! I used to download pictures of airplanes from Airliners.Net and look at airport designs. lol. And air-related movies - Air Speed - wow! :D
If I'm ever in your flight, please take me to the cockpit! - lol :P

Oh and Rocky, I still have the original Plutonia :P But I have to use cheats to survive and sleep well at night

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Observador Celeste - 07.06.2004, 15:32

    Plutonia
I'll check which level is Plutonia. Honestly, I can't remember, but I'll be back to you in a couple of days, once I review my passwords. I swear I can't remember now, but I tell you this: I never used any cheats, so I know it's possible somehow...

Re: Do you like computer games?

    atlantis - 07.06.2004, 18:02

Wow! No cheats - I think the only games I can survive without cheats are Minesweeper and Bejeweled!

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Rocky Balboa - 07.06.2004, 21:13

Hey OC, I play with no cheats too, but I don't know in what difficulty level you played, I play in Ultra-violence level (Nightmare is impossible) you know....
In this level and without cheats I've arrived at the last level of each episode but only I could finish Doom (one)
How can pass the final level of Doom 2??

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Wong Chung Bang - 07.06.2004, 23:22

Doom 2, that was a tough one at the end... You have to run up the tower and press the switch at the top which lowers the pillar, then jump down on to it and fire in to the exposed brain of the demon at just the right time (I think rockets work best).

If you have the ZDoom modification, it makes the level thousands of times easier because you can aim up and down. Some may call that cheating, though it's the way I got past it =/

And I still find the Doom games terrifying... especially when played at night with the headphones turned up loud.

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Rocky Balboa - 08.06.2004, 14:22

    Thanks Wong Chung Bang.
I tried to finish this level but it's impossible.
I thinked that the solution was wait until the monsters go out, I killed and killed monsters till died but there are infinite right?
I''ll try this one that you saied.
    Thanks again

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Danath - 13.06.2004, 04:38

I LOVE games.I play everyday at least once. 8) I love RPG's :D and I like shooters too

Rocky, the monsters in the final level of Doom 2 are infinite,as you well said,so don't try to win that way, man. And good luck.

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Rocky Balboa - 13.06.2004, 22:07

Don't pretend I believe you complete the Doom II final level... I know you, and we must to end the plutonia experiment and the "Verboten" words "Gateaway of hell"
    Verboten is forbidden I think....

Re: Do you like computer games?

Are there some Crimsonland fans? The men who can kill thousand of monsters in a minute and drimking coffee in a same time.

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Wong Chung Bang - 18.06.2004, 01:29

Yes, someone pointed that out to me a while ago - I've only played the shareware version, but it was quite fun while it lasted.

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Danbo Daxter - 19.06.2004, 12:38

Ah, Crimsonland... I've been a fanatic for quite a while, but it was only a fortnight ago that I decided to register it.

And of course, the game's soundtrack has been replaced with Iron Savior =D

Other than Crimsonland (a game that manages to look good and play well even on my PC), my favourite games are probably UT1998, Deus Ex and a bit of Starcraft now and then. It's twitch gaming all the way for me.

And for those who don't know what Crimsonland is, it's here : http://arcade.reflexive.com/Themes/arcade2004/Index.php?PAGE=game_detail&CID=0&AID=9&FLEXSTATE=Action

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Observador Celeste - 21.06.2004, 15:34

    Passwords
Rocky, I can't find my doom passwords (they probably are at my mom's, I've living alone for quite a while now), and I don't have the time to play through the entire game again, so post the code to Plutonia, to refresh my memory and tell you how trick is done.
Anyway, if I go to my mom's, I'll probably get my codes back... But it's gonna take sometime.

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Danath - 02.07.2004, 05:00

Errr....OC,he(and me) want to know how to get through the final level of Plutonia(Gateway of Hell),not the codes, man.

Re: Do you like computer games?

    Observador Celeste - 02.07.2004, 18:58

    Why the code...
Exactly, Danath. To tell you how to pass plutonia, I need the code to get there, 'cause I played those games so long ago, and they have so many levels, (and I finished all Dooms) that I can't possibly remember each of them, and I don't have time to play thorough the entire game again, at least not any time sooner.
That's why asked for the code to that level.

I used to play a lot of "Mechwarrior" 2 and 3 some time ago, but somehow I seem to be too dumb or too slow for more modern computer games. I really liked Adventures like "Full Throttle" and "Monkey Island" or "The Dig", though...somehow all the stuff doesn´t run on my computer now...not even in compatibility mode. :(

Re: Do you like computer games?

Try using Dosbox, metalamazon - it's helped me a lot.

Dosbox should be fun. Wanted to play "Abuse" again on my Mac, but I can't find the original game :o

Anyway, I'm playing Halo: Combat Evolved now. This games' AWESOME! Haven't tried multiplayer properly yet, though.

Cool tip, Wong Chung Bang and atlantis.

I´ll try downloading it as soon as my new dsl is running...actually I have to come to an internet cafe to come here at the moment, and they don´t allow downloads... :(

But I hope it´ll work next week. 8)

    How's AoE3 and NFS:MW? :o

I used to love AoE! Played it for weeks straight (big thing for me) ;) But the theme of the new ones don't as much.

    What's Fahrenheit?
