Thanks guys for the warm welcome so far. I have a question regarding a mod idea that I need help with and im sure someone can help.

My car originally by factory came with a fitted spoiler however never came with the optional third high level brake light. Earlier in the year I managed to source a complete spoiler of a 1.6iSR MB1 with a fully working third brake light. Any ideas how I can get the third brake light into my spoiler along with the wiring ?

    Thanks in advance

i would simply varnish ur new spoiler which already includes the brake light and install that one. i can picture that hookin up ur original spoiler only with the brake light is almost impossible.. well at least if its supposed to look nice and neat.

The current spoiler has the space for the spoiler light but just no spoiler light, the new light fits neatly in place too but the wiring is not presant. I wonder how it would be wired up any suggestions ?

i think it would be a better idea, when you sell this one and buy another with a spoiler light ;)

well in that case.. i dono myself how the wireing is done in detail, i never took mine off.. its obviously embedded tho
translating ur problem to german and posting it again could be helpful.

he already has another one with a light , he simply wants to transfer the third braking light system onto his original spoiler but the problem is that the wireing isnt done.

    Re: Hello From UK

    SebastianW - 07.05.2008, 15:34

Well, the space in your current spoiler can be removed as you said above. The only problem is that the plug of the 3rd brake light cannot be drawn through the whole spoiler. There already should be a hole for the wiring at one side in your spoiler where it is fitted to your boot lid and there should also be one where the 3rd brake light has to be fitted.
So the 1st step would be to take off the whole lining of your tailgate to check if there is already the wiring for a 3rd brake light as it looks like you haven't got one yet fitted in your rear window.
If you can find it (there should be a not connected plug with 2 wires) you can continue with the rest of my guide. If there is none you have to wire these wires from your rear lights into the tailgate.
2nd step: Remove your spoiler and remove the red painted space part. 3rd step would be to check if there are the mentioned holes for the wiring in the spoiler so far. If yes continue with step #4. Remove the plug at the end of the wires of the 3rd brake light. Just cut through the wires as the plug is the same one as it has to be connected with under the lining (what obviously wouldn't work [please don't ask why Honda did that, I don't know]). Next step would be to drill a hole into your tailgate where the wire has to be put through and connect the wire of the 3rd brake light with the one in the tailgate.

Please excuse me when something isn't best English, but I tried my best.

Thanks SebastianW for your advice, much appreciated. In response to your steps I have tried a few but with no luck. Firstly I removed the lining earlier in the year when I bought the additional spoiler. As I thought yes no wiring or plug was present. I set about removing the blanking plate in my existing spoiler and yes there is a routing space for the two wires but no wires with the bullet connectors. Your guide states that I have to route the two wires through my existing spoiler and through the tailgate and under the boot lining....question is that how do I get the wiring further from there to the rear tail lamps. I need to take it through the rubber piping somehow ?

Yeah, right. Just cut off the plug of the 3rd brake light wire, that's the easiest way. Then route the two wires through your existing spoiler after having removed the blanking plate and drill a 3rd hole through the tailgate (I guess it was on the right side) between the 2 fixing holes. Then the wires go up at the right besides the rear window (where all wires of the tailgate are, e.g. for heated rr window). They run up to that rubber piping you mentioned. You have toplug it out and route the wires through it, at the inside of your car you have to remove the c-pillar lining where the wires come in. The rest should be clear

    Re: Hello From UK

    gurpz1 - 07.05.2008, 22:57

Thanks again. So it would seem the spoiler will need to be removed for that additional hole to be drilled for the wires to travel in. Would I need to buy a new set of those rubber gaskets for each side as I remember when I removed the spoiler from the car with the brake light the gaskets seem pretty perished and ripped upon removal.

    Re: Hello From UK

    SebastianW - 08.05.2008, 11:50

Yes, the spoiler needs to be removed. Otherwise it might be a little bit difficult  In my point of view it would be the best to buy a new set as these are not that expensive, at least here in Germany. It seems as if dealer parts are more expensive in the UK than in Germany. Is that true?

And just to be sure: You do not have any 3rd brake light at your rear window, do you?

    Re: Hello From UK

    gurpz1 - 08.05.2008, 17:17

Thanks again. Regarding part costs here in the UK im not sure if there more expensive here in the UK but I wouldnt be surprised if they where. Oh and yes my car has no 3rd brake light in the rear windscreen since my car came with a factory fitted spoiler with just no light.

    Re: Hello From UK

    gurpz1 - 14.05.2008, 21:07

Ill see if I can get the spoiler light mod done a little bit later in the year.

Does anyone know the bulb fitment for the front indicators. I want to change them to the chrome look bulbs so they eliminate that horrible 'fried egg look'. Would these fit:

Also where is the access to get to these bulbs ?

    Re: Hello From UK

    SebastianW - 14.05.2008, 23:18

Unfortunately these bulbs won't change the mentioned 'fried egg look' as there is an orange lense installed in the front indicator section of the headlight. But you have the option to remove this lense, but you would have to open your headlights to remove it.
How to change the indicator bulbs and which type you need you should take a look at your owner's manual

    Re: Hello From UK

    gurpz1 - 24.05.2008, 17:22

Thanks now facing a problem. Over time I have noticed the ride in my car is getting very hard and uncormfortable even a slight bump or pot hole makes the cars ride uncomfy.

I have got the stock suspension and shock absorbers all round but where replaced a few years back. This suspension was idearly aimed for the steel wheels my car came with by factory but I changed them to the SR spec ones and thus the reason my car sits a bit high too compared to an original SR setup and I would like the car lowered but only to the SR spec no lower (plenty of speed bumps around)

So heres the question, presuming my suspension or shock absorbers need replacing what should I go for and what will give me the best ride:

    A) Original setup for my car based on steel wheels
    B) SR setup should it fit, considering I have the SR wheels
    C) Aftermarket setup equivilant to SR setup possibly better

Any recomenations with costs and availability in the UK

    Thanks in Advance

    Re: Hello From UK

    SebastianW - 24.05.2008, 18:54

Are you sure the SR spec is lower than a 'usual' spec one? Never heard that before.
Do you know how much the SR is lowered in contrast to your spec?

    Re: Hello From UK

    gurpz1 - 24.05.2008, 21:01

At the production time of my car the SR spec was the top model the LS and mine both had steel wheels and the standard setup. Having seen a few SR spec models around they all seem to look lower than mine.

The facelift 1.4i Sport also has a lowered setup could that be put onto mine too ?

My main purpose of changing the current setup is to get a more comfortable ride as the old setup looks tired and needs replacing it would be nice to get the car only slightly lowered at the same time though.

I only know that there was a 'Pro-Tec' version of the Japanese built civics. Those were 30 mm lower than the normal version. I also haven't ever heard of an ma/mb/mc-civic with lowered suspension (stock).

You could go for 30 mm sport springs - as far as I know, Eibach as well as H&R can be recommended. (Cost about € 100 - € 120 here). I figure that those won't affect your possibility of going over speed bumps yet :D
Where I live, it's still possible to go over speed bumps with stock steel rims and the suspension lowered by 70-80 mm (~ 3 inches), with koni dampers. You have to go very slowly, but it works

    Re: Hello From UK

    SebastianW - 26.06.2008, 01:32

Hey, maybe you should take a print-out of this brochure to your local dealer and ask him for these springs and dampers as shown under '7'.

    Re: Hello From UK

    gurpz1 - 26.06.2008, 17:07

Thanks mate, Ive just given them a ring to see if they still sell the accessory lowering springs and dampers however the parts person did say by memory most accessory parts where only available 3-5 years after the production of the car however he said he will give me a call back.

Can I ask if this kit is universal and will fit all models as if I specifiy a end of production registration they may still be able to get them.

    Re: Hello From UK

    gurpz1 - 04.07.2008, 22:54

Sadly the lowered suspention and dampers are no longer available to purchase

Will be considering H&R now but am worried may need to change shocks as well.

    Re: Hello From UK

    SebastianW - 05.07.2008, 13:14

If they are still in a good working condition you'll be able to use them together with the H&R but when they've done several 10,000 miles and you think they're done you should better change them.
