Classes/Jobs

Knight Online has four different "classes", and each class has 3 different skill-trees to pursue. It is recommended that you only choose two of them

Warrior

Warriors are your traditional sword-slinging, axe-smashing, shield-bearers. Warriors can be broken up in to two basic subgroups — tankers and attackers.

Tank

In Knight Online, the tank-style of warrior, known as the tanker, is built by basing your warrior around defensive skill. Tankers wear the heaviest armor and have the most health. They earn their most important ability by reaching level 45; this ability is known as Provoke. It only deals 10 damage, but it has the largest area of effect (AOE) in the game. This is used for mobs; all monsters in a nearby area will all rush to the tanker. This makes it simpler and easier for mages to use their smaller (but more powerful) AOE's. Tankers are excellent at collecting large amounts of money.

Blades

Blades, while they often tend to fail in comparison to assassins, are considered a good melee-class in their own right. Attackers earn their best skill at level 60, which is Sword Dance.

Attackers specialize in attacking skills.

Passion

Passion/Bedspring is not worth putting points into, at least not as your main skill. This skill is only useful as a secondary skill, and then only in small doses.

Stats for warriors

A warrior should go pure STR from level 1-30, then add HP until 90, and finish off with all STR. At level 59, add 1 point to HP, and 2 to STR. At level 60, add 3 points to HP, giving you a maximum of 94 HP. This will allow you to wear the best warrior armor in the game, Chitin Shell Armor. Tankers may want to put more thought in to HP instead of STR, they should still have a high STR. At the absolute earliest tankers should start putting stats in to HP at level 45 and beyond.

Rogue

Rogues are the sneaky character. They are good in PvP (player versus player), with there high damage dealing ability.

Rogues have two subclasses.

Archers

Putting all your skill points in to archery makes you an archer. They deal good damage and can use an AOE-like spell called "multi-shot" or "arrow-shower".

Assassin

Assassins, often used for PvP, can deal large amounts of damage in short amounts of time. They are used effectively in wars; an assassin walks around while invisible and then quickly strikes mages down 1 by 1.

Stats for rogues

Rogues should go all DEX from level 1-30, then add HP until 90, then continue adding DEX. At level 59, add 1 point into HP, and 2 into DEX. At level 60, add 3 points into HP, giving you 94 HP and allowing you to wear Rogue Chitin Shell Armor.

Mage

The wizard, master of the arcane secrets, the main damage dealer of the classes. Mages can be split in to three different sub classes: Fire mages, Ice mages, and Lighting mages, as well as two more subcategories, which follow as "Paper Mage" and "Pet Mage", With various subclasses which make use of mixed stats and armor.

Fire mage

Fire mages specialize in dealing large amounts of damage. Fire works well only for dealing mass amounts of damage, as it gives no special effects. Fire mages can buff other characters with fire resist, which is good for PvP battles. Fire mages earn a powerful spell named fire blast at level 35. A fire paper mage would also be called as a damage mage, which is the character profile with the highest possible damage capacity in the game, with lack of resistance and defense.

Ice mage

Ice mages deal decent damage but there spells has an added effect that slows the monsters down, thus making them easier to evade. They can also buff other characters with ice resist, which works well for PvP battles.

Lighting mage

Lighting mages are best at PvP battles. They deal a fair amount of damage, but it has the added effect of disrupting enemy mages' spells by making it harder for them to be successfully cast. They can buff other characters with lit resist, which works well for Apos and Derus.

Stats for mages

Most people use a 1:2 MP:INT ratio(Pet Mages), and stop adding to INT when it reaches 160. Others choose to go pure MP for the maximum possible damage(Paper Mages). If you go both MP and INT, you should be an Ice/Lightning mage. If you go pure MP, you should be a Fire/Ice mageor Fire/Lr50/Ice(putting main stats into Fire, 24 into Lightning for Lightning Resist 50, and the rest into Ice for chill and basic armor buff). However, it is not a good idea to do so, as a certain INT level is required to wield certain equipment. If the INT level is not high enough, the equipment is not wieldable. This equipment consists of higher level staffs and armour, which are vital for mages to deal extra damage and survive longer.

Stats for Damage Mages

Damage Mage is a subcategory of Paper mage, and can be roughly defined as a Fire Paper Mage. In reality there is much more to it. see the Knight Online: Damage Mages entry for more information.

Stats for Mixed Mages

Some mages will invariably go for a personalized build which makes use of a certain level of armor or weapon's availability or aesthetic preference, one such variation is the 'silk lightning mage, which has been put to good use by a small number of highly skilled mages, or 'Viper Mage' which is a mage who has arranged his stats in such a manner as to be able to use the viper staff with all remaining points into MP for damage dealing, thereby increasing the mages DOT(damage over time) and melee ability, due to the staff having a higher AP than the standard paper staves, while retaining a portion of the damage of a paper mage and a portion of the defensive ability of the pet mage.

Priest

The cleric, the servants of the god. The healer and all around support character. There are three subclasses for priests.

Buffer

Buffers are welcomed in to any party; they can cast spells they improve other characters' health and defense. Many tankers will ask for a buffer before going into a dangerous battle.

Healer

Healers are welcomed in to any party as well, especially at high levels. Their spells replenish a character's health, which allows characters to stay in battle for a longer amount of time, thus allowing them to defeat stronger monsters.

Rezzer

Rezzers are generally not welcomed in any party, but are a needed part of the game, especially at high levels. Their main ability is to cast resurrection magic; it has no combat effect but lessens the experience loss that characters suffer when they die. Rezzers can also cast debuffing spells; this does not deal damage but can a lower monster's attack and defense.

Stats for priests

Most people go for the same stat ratio as a mage (1:2), but instead of MP, they add to STR (STR:INT). Most priests focus on Aura/Heal (support priest) or Holy/Heal (debuff priest). Priests who lack points in heal may not be welcome in some parties.

Note
There is an additional style of play called the battle priest; in this style, the player focuses soley on their STR; thus, they can deal massive damage, and can make themselves stronger with their own buffs. They are one of the best PVP characters at high levels.

Clans

A clan is a club of users (generally friends) that group together; most players prefer to have friends as clan members, but the larger and more powerful clans will only admit strong characters. The benefits of being in a clan include: a seperate chat channel for clan members, whose text apears in green on the main chat window, the ability to party with your clan members no matter what levels they are, and without being close enough to manually select them, and finally the ability to get capes, which cost huge amounts of money and require many nation points which are gained by killing users of the opposite nationality.

Making a Clan

To make a clan simply go to any of the inn keepers, and ask to create a clan. There is a 500,000 gold cost to form a clan. If you are the one who forms the clan then you become the clan leader. This grants you the ability to join or ban any one you wish to or from your clan.

* NOTE* The ability to create a clan has been temporarily suspended due to the large amount of existing clans already in existance.

Assistants

A clan leader can appoint up to 3 other members in there clan to be assistants. This gives them the ability to join other members. They do not have the ability to ban members from the clan.

Parties

Knight Online allows players to form "parties". A party is a group of at least two people who work together to defeat monsters, or other players, and share the experience which is received from defeating the monster. Parties allow players to level-up faster than normal. Users can only party characters who are a certain amount of levels away from them, unless they are in the same clan or one user is in the Beginner Helper Quest (a quest which puts a chicken icon next to your name and allows high-level users (anyone above lvl 30) to party with you. this lasts until you reach level 30, aat which point the icon dissapears, you are rewarded with 500,000 gold, and the party restrictions return to normal. players in this quest are commonly referred to as "chickens")

Party members can also see their fellow party members HP, MP, and what items they pick up, but not their levels.
