I was talking to my best friend yesterday to ask her how her birthday and easter was last week, and she told me that her and her fiance had gone away for the easter long weekend, and when they got back they discovered that their dog had been stabbed to death!! It looks like somebody tried to open the gate to break into the house, and their dog had grabbed them, so they stabbed her! It's just so horrible and upsetting. I just can't understand what kind of evil person could do such a horrible thing to an innocent animal!

I tell you, if there was ever something that could drive me to seriously hurt a person, it would be catching somebody harming an animal! I just wish that something could be done to catch the person who did this to my friend's beloved pet...

Yes, things like that are horrible ... too many things happen which don´t make any sense or can´t be understood by "normal" people.

If innocent animals are included it´s real bad ... there is no excuse for it!

Back here in Germany a young woman got killed in her car on her way back home from a Easter vacation by a block of wood someone throw down from a bridge just for fun! She was only 33 years old and her two little kids and husband survived! This person who threw the block was maybe just a little bored and destroyed a family! I will never understand things like that. One moment you are sitting in a car singing songs with your kids and next moment you are dead - this woman had no chance!

Years ago we had someone giving poisoned meat to dogs ... just he couldn´t stand their barking anymore (I mean, barking in general!!!)

Does all this make sense?

That's so sad Evanstar! I'm really sorry for your friend to loose such a close companion. Hopefully the police will catch the robbers and make them pay for their crimes.

that's really sad and annoying. killing innocent animals abhorrent. Those people deserve the hihest penalty (among children abusers)

Anne, I think I heard that the mother also defeated cancer months ago - so she was really happy that she survived and now she got killed just because of this stupid "joke"

Killing is always horrible, even if it's to safe someone or something. No matter what or whom you kill, you will always hurt someone.
About two years ago we had someone in our area who hurt horses so badly (using a knife to make cuts on their necks) that they died. Not always but I think two did while more than 10 - I think - survived I was so scared that person might come here to our villiage and kill or hurt Fitchy.
I think this person or this group is still not caught because noone has ever seen anything.
But the worst thing is that most people who kill or hurt animals/humans do it just for fun. They play computer games or watch movies in which people die like flies, but when they start that game again the "people" they just killed are alive. And in movies noone really dies and most people know that. They just don't get that life is a computer game or a movie you can play again whenever you want. What is dead stays dead.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone. My friend now has a new Great Dane to take care of, so at least that will take her mind off what happened.

I just really feel for animals who suffer because they cannot speak for themselves, and it's so sad that there are people out there who don't value the sanctity of life (whether it be a human life or otherwise).
