Do You Believe In Some Sort Of Afterlife?

Yeah, I dunno why I capitalized those.

Anywho. Answer the question!

I believe in Heaven, as a good Christian should. Winken

But sometimes I wonder. Some people believe in no afterlife at all. And think that when you die, you cease to exist.

That scares me. I couldn't imagine my life, conciousness, everything just ending. Gah. I mean, one moment your dead, and the next you're just...nothing. Like turning a TV off. Doesn't your mind, your thoughts, have to go somewhere?

To me that's scary. I like to know exactly what's going to happen and how things are going to be.

Maybe that's one of the reasons I so strongly believe in (and hope) there's a Heaven. A nice place where I can see my loved ones who have passed is easier for me to look forward to.

What do you think? Reincarnation, Heaven, something else? Or no afterlife at all?

Do you have fears about the afterlife?

(And no, I'm not going to turn this into a Christian/non-Christian debate. I'm just genuinly curious as to what people think!)

I was with my Mum when she died, and I didn't think of her going to heaven, or whatever..to me she was just an empty lifeless shell..

Why not? It starts just as suddenly. You life and your consciouness is just electrical signals. Do you believe your computer goes to a computer heaven everytime you turn it off? Because I know I don't.

And if you believe in the afterlife, then you would have to believe in the before life too. Because if everyone on earth died right now, there'd be almost 7 billion lives going to heaven, add that on to every single person who has died in the history of mankind. It sounds pretty squishy to me.

That is of course id the 'souls' arent recycled.

But it's all rubbish anyway, I don't believe in the afterlife.

Yes, I believe in an afterlife of sorts, but I'll never claim to know what it's like or how it works. Reincarnation seems in keeping with the way the rest of the world works, though, so I lean toward that.

It just seems frightening to think that one day, my life will just suddenly end.

Where will my thoughts go? My soul? Will I even know I'm dead?

Eh. Maybe it doesn't make sense to others. But to me it's comforting to believe that I'll go somewhere, and still be able to think and have memories.
