hey everyone.
i havent been around for ~ 2 weeks now. well, this happened 3 patches ago. from one day to the other my nf client was completely fucked up.
booting NF now takes 8-10 minutes instead of 20 seconds. as soon as i enter the battlefield on any account my screen freezes for a good minute again, then i get connection to server lost message.
i reinstalled windows, was patient with TNF to check for ISP, nothing helped. GG is also clueless what could cause these problems. i am getting REALLY sick about this game, i dont know what to do.
please, if u dont have any suggestions like *try re-install windows again*, help me i dont know what to do |

hey there is a guide in the NF Forum about removing the entries in the windows registration.
I had the same problems couple of weeks ago, and cleaing up my registration helped.
Other possiable way could be, install NF on a another pc, copy whole folder and move this to your pc. Before doing this delete every single file...
And by the way, hunter told about your ts, would be fine if can make me there an account....with the anonymous account iam unable to connect...or is there a global password?

Word of warning!
Having spent the past 2 days repairing and restoring a machine that the owner though he would adjust his registry manually, make sure you export you current registry settings and keep a copy! Backup everything you can't afford to loose!
The bottom line is the uninstaller should remove these registry settings when you uninstall NF but typically it doesn't!
If you are unsure what a registry is and what it does then DON'T try to edit it, its not worth killing your machine over this game.
Pls note the registry setting changes will make your PC think NF has become corrupted and will force an update.
For those of you that have tried this and still have no luck i would suggest trying this
Uninstall from control panel
Delete all nf folders on your HD
Delete the folder in the registry for Navyfield/SDEnternet
Reinstall from scratch |

I like to send you to my other posting where i listed some utilities for the registry. I use RegSeeker 1.45 (freeware), its finds bugs with the funktion to remove or change each one AND also has the function to make a backup first. But i dont needed the backup till today.
But always use at your own risk.
I also use another freeware program named PageDefrag that defrags the registry files at windows startup (once or every start, just like you want it).
And for a better Taskmanager (imo) try using the Freeware ProcessExplorer.
I dont know if that helps, but i think its worth a try. And one thing for windows could never be wrong: reboot often after uninstallation and installation of things. Maybe also set a restore point (if you got win xp) - i think its one of the best new features of win xp even if i dont use it very often.
---- added ----
Hm, maybe your Windows Harddisk is full? (for me its C: - when its full my System slows down dramatically). Or you have Spyware/Virus on your computer? Then maybe Spyware Blaster (Freeware) could help you. _________________

As long as you have enough room on your HD for your page file it doesn't make much difference, i never have more than about 5Gb free on the machine i play this on.
I agree with the defrag but i prefer O&E Defrag as you can actually use it to arrange programs in order on the disk, so you can defrag Navyfield to the start of your HD so the access times will be dramatically improved.
Antivirus also makes no difference to Navyfield i run McAfee and have never had to disable it to play! |

okay ive tried every option posted in here.
removed everything, enfus and NF + *regedit* NF root keys. all gone so far. i reboot, re-install everything, reboot again. launch NF, wait 5 minutes....same shit different toilet - no effect so far.
i tried the defrag-boot program - no effect.
i scanned my computer for viruses/whatever - nothing found (used programs ad-aware and antivir personal)
i will prolly restore my system once again today - that prolly might have an effect.
so far, no progress

Let me ask some questions:
What Windows? XP?
Service Pack?
Free Disk Space?
Latest Drivers?
What program uses the most cpu % in the taskmanager when starting Navyfield?
Does the slow startup only affect Navyfield or other Programs too?
Is the Windows startup also slow?
Did u start once in the save mode ? (Press F8 at startup)
Sorry for the questions, i only want to help
And please download hijackthis and try to make an automatic scan of your scan-result-file under http://www.hijackthis.de/. _________________

My Tracert is somewhat like the same, so its not a ISP problem.
I think you should list the Firewalls, AntiVir and other Protecting Softwares you use.

_________________

i wasted 4 hours to reinstall my windows. first thing i re-installed were all drivers and my NF client. it worked. then i rebooted, installed icq and, surprise surprise, same issue as before. Nf doestnt work again!
i doubt icq is messing everything up, its a 2001 beta and worked fine so far.
im now tryin your program hunter but...this game is really pissin me off...zhar cant help me, so is greenglade.

I know about "never change a running system". but maybe your icq 2001 beta is messingup your registry settings? have you tried it with the actual (i think) ICQ version 5.1 ? It dont needed to be the Pro7 Version. I linked the 5.1 German here.
Oh, and before uninstalling ICQ2001beta, Use your Restore Point right after your set up of your clean Windows and Try if Navyfield still runs or not. _________________
