I remember a B17 at Secche di Scardovari, near Porto Barricata.
A diving promised me more information.

A B-17 indeed which exploded in midair abeam Chioggia over the sea after being attacked by either German or Italian fighters. The navigator was rescued by Italian fishermen. He told me a fighter was firing at him while hanging on his chute...
