Last week I have started my investigations on a new unknown crash site of a fighter or Jabo.
The local farmer swore me that it has been an American aircraft. He dug out the power plant many years ago and sold it.
I only found some small debris… but it does not really look like an allied aircraft – it seems to be a German one!
Now I need your expert help by identifying the aircraft type.
Here are the details I can give you currently:
Sadly there are no numbers on the parts – only a small round inspector stamp with the number 48 (the rest above is not readable).
Maybe the two small switches are helpfully – the display (1 BAR = 100 kpa) will be modern (?).
The rounded rivets have all a small embossed point (2mm) on the top.
Very interesting are the mountings (especially the three ones on the big long part) – I found such mountings on a picture from a ME 109 – could this be the answer??
And finally the text of the small sign:
Bauart: Siemens
ME 5000 01 (or possibly HE)
19-5000 A-1
Stotz- Apparatebau
It would be nice getting your opinion – any ideas? :n169:
THANKS for your help!

Sascha,
your parts are definite german.
Some part are typical german parts.
FL 5000-01 is a "Selbstschalter" 40 Volts, 6 Ampere. Used on some german
aircrafts...
Ask the farmer why he think is was an american aircraft. Possible it was captured and then flown by the USAAF.
Regards
Nils

Oh - thanks!
I couldn´t find the meaning of the small plate.
The farmer told me that the American pilot bailed out and landed in a tree nearby his house - and broke his leg by it.
He has not been there by himself but heard the story from his father.
Possible he confused the issue!?

Here is the "Selbstschalter"
PS.
. Most of the time- and eyewitness have a indistinct recollection, because the crash is a long time ago. Their report can only be a notice and now it´s your job to check what is correct :???:
We will do our best to help you !

Nils
