For a few seconds I was thinking they used the same backing-track. At least they are very very close to the original. Can't wait to watch the movie.

I'm not really sure: it sounded more like the original cast track than Abba's version to me! Both Agnetha and Frida's voices are so special: they have an amazing specific sound, and this seem to be far more related to a musical than a pop song.
However, I must admit it sounds nice: I'll probably visit the movie when it will be showed in cinemas.
Visitor1982 - 12.12.2007, 18:37
They used the new backingtrack recorded by Benny and ABBA's musicians this year.

That video just went up today, and it says that "tomorrow", ET (Entertainment Tonight) will preview the movie Mamma Mia! I usually don't watch ET, and there's no indication when the clip was made (could have been last week). I checked the schedule for today and tomorrow and they don't list a Mamma Mia review. In any event, I set up to record today's program.

Thanks Samy once again. I only wish there was more of the clip. Ah well, shouldn't be too long before the first trailers will appear (I reckon Jan/Feb) and then ABBA's sales will start to skyrocket :D.

WOW
The music sounds Amazing, so like the original!!!!
I have a feeling they will use the ''Mamma Mia'' instrumentals (The ones from the movie) in the ABBA Museum for us to record our own ABBA songs too! ORRRR if they're really wanting to give us a great time we could use the original ABBA backing tracks...??
I'd say to whoever was recording, ''Can i listen to it first, get the feel of the song etc?'' [AKA Wanting to listen to the original ABBA Music]

Watched the clip and the movie looks like it will be great . Heard Meryle Streep sing a bit of Momma mia and now I know why Benny was so happy with her. She does a fantasic job of it so far.
I've also heard Brosnan sing in Evelyn hope he does a better job here.

Wow that is so cool, Maryl Streep is neither Agnetha nor Frida but she is better than the singers in the one or the other stage-production.
I thought I would not watch this film but I will - I'm sure it'll be great, the whole cinema singing along^^
I just wonder how much dialogue there'll be and how much music.
And wether we will ger a German dubbed-version or not (for the dialogues).

I am literally jumping out of my skin right now.
I was excited to see the movie beforehand, but now the wait is unbearable! Because I've actually seen a part of it via the movie trailer, I now know what to expect- something BIGGER and BETTER than I had ever imagined!!! I must've watched that preview at least 5 times in the past 10-15 minutes. Amanda Seyfried was so much better than I expected, and Meryl was AMAZING!
I'm so excited for this movie! :excited: I can't wait until July!

I absolutely don't like the American sound of the trailer at all.. Those songs are mainly based on Mama Mia! the musical, which was first and best preformed in English.
This could have been such a great English spoken movie, but the 'oh my god' Sophie yells, is kinda disappointing.. However, it seems to be a feeling good movie, which is of course, always nice.
Thanks for those links by the way!

Dancing Queen, are you referring to the English spoken by British people, as opposed to Americans?
Some of the actors are indeed British, and even the American actors don't have completely 'American-sounding' accents, I think.

Is 'Oh my God' mainly an American expression? I never knew that. :stupid:
And I can tell just from those two minutes that this is going to be a feel good movie... so far it has been a feel-good preview (by that, I mean the UK version. The American one isn't terrible, but is of weaker quality than the UK version). I just can't stop watching it- and every time I'm literally: :excited:

I Agree I think it's gonna be BIG
I watched the trailer again and The sound track from what I have heard is great.
It must have been wonderful for all of these Musicians who played on the ABBA Albums to get together again.
I wonder what Bjorn and Benny felt being back in the Recording Studio putting these tracks together.

ABBAnator wrote: I'm pretty sure they do speak English in America. At least that's the rumor..
American English for sure. I'll try to explain what mean: the first real Mama Mia! musical was done in British English, and since this movie is mainly based on the musical, I still relate it very much to the British language. It is just that the American tune of the whole setting which I partly spotted in this trailer, gives me a strong feeling of commerce. With Mama Mia! the musical, a perfect balance between a happy-go-lucky story and Abba's amazing poptunes was found, but I'm affraid those will be more a feeling good soundtrack now Mama Mia! the movie has made an entrance.
Quote: I Agree I think it's gonna be BIG.
That was exactly my thought too when I saw this trailer. After all, the whole Mama Mia! setting was based on Abba's songs, and I'm partly affraid people tend to forget were it was all about.
There's nothing wrong with American actors like Meryl Streep: she's an amazing actress, based on what I've seen so far of her acting, but that's not the point. The American setting of the trailer as far as I can judge, gives me a feeling of BIG Business indeed, which I hope, will not harm Abba's music.
MammaMia512 wrote: Is 'Oh my God' mainly an American expression? I never knew that.
The way 'Sophie' says it, yes! However, that was just an example.
DayBeforeUCame - 15.12.2007, 12:26
I was quite steptical about this movie and thought B&B had gone one step too far. However, watching the clips, it looks like it could come out in their favour. After all, I only went to see the musical for the music and when I watched the first 10 mins I thought 'oh my god, this is not good'. However, I beared with it, and was converted - to seeing it over 10 times.

DancingQueen wrote:

I think that's just natural, since that's how you first heard it. I think Sophie should have more of a Greek accent, shouldn't she, if we are true to the location?
DancingQueen wrote:

Again, I think that is just the difference between a stage performance and a filmed performance. On stage, you can get by with minimal props, but not so on film. It is almost the reverse with the acting: I've seen stage actors on television shows, and they seem to "over-act," which is really just that you have to do things in a bigger way when on stage and people are far away from you than when you are on a tv or film screen.
DancingQueen wrote:

Yes, the interpretations by actors other than the stage actors will be different.
Many people will be watching the movie without the prior experience of having seen the musical, too.
:)

I just saw a Mamma Mia trailer for the first time. Although I suppose someone on this site has already posted this link, this is the one provided by "The Official International ABBA Fan Club" site.
http://uk.movies.yahoo.com/m/Mamma-Mia/index-3727185.html
I couldn't believe how good it looked and sounded. I don't suppose we ABBA fans will ever like anyone else doing the songs as well as we like ABBA doing them, but the cast looked and sounded as though they had respect for the music and the story. They sounded as though they were enjoying themselves. They sounded great.
The first couple of times I saw the trailer I couldn't move except to click the mouse to see it again. After that, I regained enough of my wits to close the door to my room. I didn't want my housemates to see me sitting at the screen with tears streaming down my face.
I can't wait to see Mamma Mia.

It's funny you're complaining that "the UK/ROW" gets better than "the US", but so far the US/international site has more to offer than the UK site, with the story of the movie, photos and wallpaper.
All movies have several trailers, some short (30 secs to 1 min), some longer (2 or 3 mins), depending on where they're screened.
Mamma Mia! is still over 6 months away. What's out so far are just teaser trailers. There will be more closer to the release date.

The Winner Takes It All (Benny said in an interview he was impressed by Meryl's performance, he even said - I think - the song was good enough for a single-release)
SOS (this was the scene we got the first picture from
I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do has been heavily edited for the flim I read somewhere, Knowing Me, Knowing You, Thank You For The Music and Under Attack are said to be removed completely.
abbafreak - 22.12.2007, 06:37
Maybe
Yeah.....maybe....
I see that the sites are growing in what is available....ie: wallpapers, etc..but my main complaint was that I thought that the UK website layout was nicer, and better-done with the graphics and the actual trailer was more enjoyable.
I am aware that there are several trailers and there will be more, it just seemed funny to start out different countries with different trailers, especially when the UK one showed so much more of the movie and was WAY more exciting to watch...they do not want to turn off potential customers by having a "lame" or "weak" trailer 6 months before release....UK is better...that is only my opinion and is what I was stating.
I am sure there will be many changes as time goes by...I'll stop complaining now! ...I'll just watch the UK site! :D

MarryMeAgnetha - 22.12.2007, 10:04

Please let the rumors not be true....I will bite my tongue and wait until Universal announces a track list and soundtrack information.....I am hoping for the best, and, like in Grease, maybe there will be a few NEW songs written and performed just for the movie that were not in the play.

Mamma Mia! has 22 songs. Take out the three that have apparently been dropped and add the one that's been added, still leaves 20 songs.
abbafreak wrote: I am hoping for the best, and, like in Grease, maybe there will be a few NEW songs written and performed just for the movie that were not in the play.
But new songs wouldn't be "ABBA songs", and that's the whole point of Mamma Mia!
Björn said in an interview in August that new songs would be unlikely, because "Everybody would think: oh, they want the Oscar."

And regarding KMKY,
Yes i think it's a shame that its [probably] been cut from the movie, but maybe WAISAD fits more to the plot, and i like the idea that a 'New' song will be introduced to people who see the film because they like the musical, or are a 'gold' fan, or are a fan of the actors etc.
Anyway, we should just wait for the final track list then we will know for sure if it has been dropped or not.
As for TYFTM, i guess this will be used as a piece of music for the credits or maybe will be removed again completely.
Yesterday i watched ''The Simpsons Movie'' and I hope Mamma Mia - The Movie DVD follows a simular format. The Extra's had deleted scenes, trailers, Commentaries, alternate scenes etc.
I think they'll release a soundtrack, then a DVD with Extras, then A CD/DVD Combo of the two, then add a new booklet etc etc etc! I will purchase the DVD and CD because it's promising to be a great film!

''FACTS:THIS HAS BEEN CHANGED IN THE FILM
UNDER ATTACK is not in the film. It opens the musical after interval, but there is no pause in the film.
KNOWING ME KNIWING YOU has been erased. Instead Pierce Brosnan sings WHEN ALL IS SAID AND DONE
In the film the love story of Donna and Sam has been brought in the foreground. More focus on Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan.
In the film the men´s arrival is different. Stellan we see for example first with a motor cycle. Filmed in Marocco.
Higher tempo in the film, everything takes place during 24 hours.
Six years has passed since Tom Hanks asked to be able to produce the film ''

It is definitely a shame that KMKY isn't in the movie.
It was one of ABBA's first songs that gave the world a preview to the potential emotional depth to come in future B&B songs. It as much defined the ABBA sound in the early years as, Waterloo or SOS.
But I nit pick. All that matters is there is something coming that:
-Reintroduces ABBA again to the world at large, creating new ABBA fans
-Stars Legitimate top notch actors to even get the slightly curious to "take a chance".
-gives all ABBA fans around the whole world something new to enjoy (fingers crossed).
-Gives those who were too "cool" to "like" ABBA back then, another chance to "get" them (Are you listening Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?).(Count me as "got" long ago :)).
Long Live ABBA!

I suppose there are a lot of people who don't think much about ABBA, but lots of people are interested in seeing the movie version of a successful stage musical. The movie will undoubtedly be a huge success as a result.
It makes me wonder if this will bring about another ABBA renaissance. When The Beatles album Beatles 1 came out, it brought in a whole new generation of Beatles fans. A similar result for ABBA seems pretty likely. We'll soon find out.

Actually I don't see what the problem is in the Abba boys writing a song for Mamma Mia and going for an Oscar. What's so wrong about that? If the song is good enough.....most Oscar song winners are atrocious.
Really looking forward to seeing Abba in the limelight again, though we should remember that movies burst onto the scene with great publicity but can also disappear very quickly these days. (Though end up being reborn in DVD format etc). That makes no difference of course because Abba is firmly implanted in the global consciousness for all time!

Another thing
When I mentioned in my post abive about adding "filler" or "new" songs for the Mamma Mia Movie as the writers did for "Grease"....I did not necessarily mean new ABBA songs....I just meant, I wonder if there will be any un-heard songs used in the film. In Grease the movie, there were songs added just to make the film version longer and make the storyline flow better.
I think the Movie has a chance to be nominated for best musical score, for the arrangement of the songs that follow the story of the movie itself. Even though the songs were written 30 years ago! So what!?? I think there is a category for that and the songs do not have to be new and unique songs to the movie...so maybe Benny and Bjorn will win an Oscar for their songwriting...THAT would be fantastic!

Most of the new songs were added to Grease specifically because Olivia Newton-John was cast as Sandy.

The only musical categories are for music written specifically for a film. Here's the Oscar's rule http://www.oscars.org/79academyawards/rules/rule16.html and other awards have similar rules.

Re: Another thing

I think I saw in one of the many 'behind the scene' programs on Grease that one of Olivia's songwriters contributed one of the "new" songs to showcase her strengths, I think it was Hopelessly Devoted to You. I could be recalling it wrong tho....anyone heard that too? (BTW I just watched the video of her, ABBA and Andy Gibb again....Damn that girl could sing, will that ever be released as a DVD?? :?
abbafreak wrote: ...so maybe Benny and Bjorn will win an Oscar for their songwriting...THAT would be fantastic!
Oscar is nice but for some reason I think entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame would be sweeter to Bjorn and Benny. Even in the more recent programs about ABBA, Bjorn still seems to, despite ALL that ABBA has accomplished, have this feeling that they ever got their dues as the artiist they are, always perceived as bubble gum pop/Disco (of course not to their fans). Benny always seemed content with what they had done while Bjorn always had a sense of bitterness in his tone at times in the interviews.

You're exactly right there! In fact, that song was written, recorded and filmed after the rest of the film, to add another song to, as you say, "showcase her strengths".
abbafreak - 05.01.2008, 07:47
!
OK...then that is what I am talking about.
Forget the musical score (existing songs that the musical is based on) for Mamma Mia getting an Oscar for the ABBA songs in the musical movie. I was incorrect on that matter.
However, the adding of a NEW song that was not in the Original "Musical" itself to the Mamma Mia movie as in "Hopelessly Devoted to You" was in Grease is what I am talking about. That way the movie version will not be exactly the same as the musical stage show...a little freshness, if you will. This NEW song if created COULD be nominated as an original musical song for the movie, right?
And, for the sake of my being redundant, if you all think I am beating a dead horse with this topic....kill it! I am just anxiously awaiting the musical score to be announced, if it will be announced prior to release!...and I want Benny and Bjorn (and Agnetha and Frida) to be recognized for this movie for their sake not just the three women that are getting the headlines. Remember, no ABBA...no Mamma Mia!

Lovely. Where did you find that?
merton - 08.01.2008, 04:12
Hi Daniel (some posts back)
Yep, I was referring to the Bjorn quote? that people might think worse of Abba if they went for a Song Oscar (my words now) as in how blatant etc etc.....Just made me think that this was a bit of typical Bjorn modesty e.g. (get over it already).....Seriously, I guess any new song written by Abba would be put under great scrutiny as people would inevitably try to compare it to the original material... Maybe the boys just don't want to be subjected to that kind of evaluation.
On the other hand, the 70s band the Eagles have proven with their new album, that you can write material many years later, attract critical and public attention and still be successful. Their new album has been a huge hit, certainly in this country.
Cat Stevens' comeback album of material not so long ago also proved to be a critical success. Likewise Kate Bush's Aerial etc.etc.

I have to say I don't truly understand the fuss about 'Mamma Mia'... well,
Well, yes, I wish the Movie were more than just the songs of ABBA....and maybe just the songs of ABBA are not really what the movie is all about. But, the songs are ABBA songs, and, I actually enjoy hearing other people singing them. I enjoy the musical as it is an entertaining musical show, albeit a little shallow on the storyline, but, it is entertaining to watch.
I will see the movie, and I am sure that I will enjoy it. Yes, not the same as if it had something more to do with my ABBA friends, but I will take it for what it is. To me, it is simply a story in which the ABBA songs were used to make up the story, and to make the show "flow" and also, it is a great tribute to the lyric compositions of ABBA being put into a different format other than music.

The songs for me always will remain Agnetha and Fridas
But I am excited as I think this is going to be huge and what I like about it is Hopefully out of it More People will buy the original recordings. And the main point is it's putting ABBA out wordwide again.
I only hope Universal do something Special AND also in a ABBA release as well.
I think it is about time B & B along with Universal put there thinking caps on and release something unique instead of the same old stuff, That would be fantastic.
But I can't see that happening any time soon You'd have a better chance of seeing pink flying pigs that previously unreleased material coming out regarding ABBA.
Maxi-saxi
Pabs - 25.02.2008, 15:10
Agree with Maxi. I hope there's a re-release of ABBA Gold and that this album will continue to add to its sales to become the biggest ever greatest hits album in the history of music!
But maxi, I don't think that they'll release extra unreleased tracks. The general public couldn't care less about rare tracks. Only a very small group of people (the die-hard ABBA fans) want what's in the vaults, and there are probably less than 5,000 people like us in the world.
Companies are not going to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars getting rights to clips and rare appearances to make dvds, or try to get un-released tracks as extras for albums which will never sell more than 5,000 copies - or less - anyway.
Maxi, unfortunately there's just not as much demand for rare ABBA clips and songs as you'd like to think.
We will never get any fantastic compilations like the ones you suggest, because there's just not enough demand.
It all boils down to this: Die-hard ABBA fans are very thin on the ground. There's just not enough buyers to make something like a rare-recordings cd or a rare tv performances dvd profitable. You've got to face the facts: not enough people love ABBA or are interested enough in ABBA to buy anything except their greatest hits.
Sad, but true. But we die-hards have no other option except to live with this fact. The only people they care about is the general public, and the general public couldn't care less about such rarities: all they want are the big hits. That's just the way the cookie crumbles, unfortunately.

Pabs wrote: There's just not enough buyers to make something like a rare-recordings cd [...] You've got to face the facts: not enough people love ABBA or are interested enough in ABBA to buy anything except their greatest hits.
Sorry, but I have to disagree. There are a so many people who really like ABBA's music because they know about the quality they'll receive if they buy one of their CDs.
I agree that the average music-lover would not buy a 100€-CD-box but if Universal e.g. had the right to release Just Like That as a single and promote it as the lost mega-ABBA-hit I'm sure people would buy it if they like the song, no matter if they are ABBA-lovers or not. It all depends on the promotion. ABBA obviously is big enough for Universal to release all the stuff we got recently. So if TV and radio would heavily promote Just Like That it could easily compete on the market. It is a nice and catchy song and it has the ABBA-bonus.
You can make money with rare-ABBA-stuff if you sell it the right way.
Still, as long as Benny and Björn are against such releases in general the best marketing concept is worthless.
DancingQueen - 25.02.2008, 20:04
Intresting thoughts I must say! I don't really know how to contribute to the above discussion, but it is very intresting for sure to read those different thoughts on Abba releases..
platobird wrote: Now that's a cool way to attract girlfriends. Once the movie is out, they'll be swarming around you to learn more about ABBA.
I'll guess that doesn't counts for boys, unfortunately.. Not for any classmate or friend of mine actually at all, to be honest. It seems like I'll have to go on my own when Mama Mia! the movie can be seen in cinemas in future, because no one is really interested in the songs as a movie-soundtrack I'm affraid. (or just no one dares to sit next to me, being scared stiff of me singing loudly along all the time)
Anyone here still available?
MarryMeAgnetha - 25.02.2008, 22:02

Me too!
I would be on the other side of her singing just as loudly!!
I agree with Pabs in a way, but not entirely, either. I do see that there is potential in Universal making money in releasing tidbits or entirely un-released tracks of ABBA songs. All the while they are attracting new and old ABBA fans with not only the release of the movie Mamma Mia, but riding on the coattails of the recent success of ABBA songs, like it or not, there has been a resurgence of ABBA songs both on the internet and on televison lately...I see it as a possibility.
There are always sudden "un-released" recordings showing up from time to time of other great musical performers....and, although they may not be blockblusters, they do promote artists and labels. Look at what Michael Jackson has just done! He re-released "Thriller" (25 years after it was released) this month and it has really performed well....he mixed things up a little bit, freshened up a few old songs with addditions of newer "stars" to help sing them AND, he added a couple of previosly un-released songs to the new "Thriller album!...
Not being a Michael Jackson fan myself this means little to me, but I have read that fans are clammoring to get the album to hear the new songs.
 It can happen! :P Put your thinking caps on, Universal, Benny and Bjorn...there is money to make out there and that is what you all want!

MarryMeAgnetha - 28.02.2008, 08:26
Maybe.
However, I suspect Pablo has sized up the situation pretty well. If there's any chance at all for any fantastic, heretofore unreleased ABBA to come out, maybe there's a slight chance that the Mamma Mia movie will generate enough interest in ABBA to motivate Benny, Björn, and Polar/Universal to release some things in which the general public might be interested. However, that seems like a pretty thin thread upon which to hang much hope. It's more likely that they wouldn't want to draw attention away from the soundtrack album.
But you never know...

There seems to be a fault (presumably temporary) on SVT's website with that link. Here's the link to the whole programme; the bit we want starts at about 22:05. (You get a bit of an 'advert' for Melodifestivalen first.)

But, again, it will only be on the website for 30 days.

It looks nice, but I don't understand a single word of it. Could someone please translate the general lines from this interview and explain some stuff about which they are talking?
I'm (still) not very fond of the whole Abba/Mamma Mia! marketing-thing, but the Making Of looked OK. I wonder what the movie will be like..

Quote: What you shouldn’t do is sing something that has already been said, or will be said in the next scene. That’s a pretty common mistake. Our goal is not to make the music as good as it can be, because it already has been. It already exists and therefore I’m not scared to handle it somewhat disrespectfully.
So he says that ABBA have recorded them the best they'll ever be...we ALL knew that anyway hehe

Thank you! But it isn't the translation of the whole interview, is it? It's nice anyway to read something about the working process from the Abba members theirselves, since they have already been so much involved with the music through the years.
Quote: So he says that ABBA have recorded them the best they'll ever be...we ALL knew that anyway hehe
How modest indeed.. :P
platobird - 07.03.2008, 19:33
I think it's good that they got their minds right about the music - it's already been done the best it ever can be. I can't wait to see the movie. :D
I note that Benny's gone high-tech - surrounded by computers. When ABBA started, he only had a piano (and his accordian), but then he got one of the first primitive synthesizers and was in heaven.
When asked about musicals, he cites Kristina från Duvemåla, but he may have a prejudice toward that one. But for movie musicals, he identifies Sound of Music as the best ever, and he's using it as a benchmark to evaluate Mamma Mia!
There's another topic here on My Fair Lady, and I had to wonder he would have mentioned this movie if Julie Andrews had played Eliza. Although, he's actually referring to the screen play, production and cinematography and not the quality of the music; that is, the way the songs are woven into the story. :D
The bottom line is always that he and Björn were hesitant to support Mamma Mia! when the idea was first presented to them, and it always seems to me they wish all this excitement was about Chess or Kristina instead of ABBA music. They'll never escape ABBA; there was none better. It was good to see that the SVT clip included the girls, who made ABBA the best ever. Agnetha's white spandex body-suit got lots of action. :D
abbafreak - 08.03.2008, 09:10

What a thrill to see Benny talk of the movie, and reveal a few glimpses of his involvement in the movie!

So Cooool!!
I'm listening to Mamma Mia....I think this is the CLOSEST we'll ever get to hearing the ABBA backing tracks!!!
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D
welshabbalover - 27.03.2008, 22:31
Ooooooooooh!! Cold Endings......Here's my
Mamma Mia - It seemed to lack that little ABBA charm which builds up in the refrain before the final ''yes i've been broken hearted....''...The cold ending seems a little random, The one from 'The Movie' could have worked better
Dancing Queen - Glad to see Benny kept his piano introduction :D i did notice a bit of Benny's piano is missing at the beginning after ''digin' the dancing queeeeeeeeeeeen...there's just strings instead (I notice the smallest of things lol!) Does anyone know if an orchestra played the strings or if they're ''synthetic?'' Something just seems to be missing again and the bit when the strings rise ''and when you get the chance...'' I think those strings could have been made far more evident to give it more of a punch (as can be seen in Dancing Queen - Oopsed) Also, there's a bit just before the start of the 2nd chorus...a saxpahone or something? Just sounds..different? lol. I see why they've done the ending like so, as a big finale, but I would AGAIN have prefered the ending ABBA used (ie - in the movie) those strings at the end of the movie are fantastic...but as it's a wedding, there's the wedding feel etc so i understand why lol.
You may have guessed i'll never be happy with them completely as you can't change the originals but this is the BEST interpretation of the ABBA music compared to some stupid computer-generated karaoke track (So it should be, recorded by the ABBA people themselves )
Does ANYONE know if the recording sessions were recorded on film for inclusion on a DVD or something? I'd LOVE to see the musicians recreating the songs they recorded some 30 years ago, I can picture Benny grinning as he thrases out Dancing Queen on the piano again

I went to the cinema on saturday, arring earlier, I entered and saw a HUGE display advertising Mamma Mia. It was the picture where the main characters feature, Meryl having her arms on either side of the ''door frame''. It was cut out and arranged at different heights, distances etc to make it look a little more ''3D.''
In those 15 minutes i waited i don't know how many people i saw walk past, then walk backwards and re-look at what they'd just seen, while i was standing there thinking ''Thats it, you go see the movie and fall in love with ABBA 8)'' lol.
There was one young girl who pointed it out to her mother, who seemed pretty excited....ABBA/Streep fan by any chance?
Not too long to go now!

Cinema displays
I am having theater management put my name and phone number on the Cinema displays in my local theater so that I will get the call one day when the movie goes off the screen. I will hopefully get the cut out display of Meryl!!! Wish me luck, some of you can do the same, let's have a contest to see who can actually come away with the best advertising/cinema displays!! :D

I'm not sure if this was posted elsewhere yet, but if you go onto the Mamma Mia movie website there is a 'Making of" featurette with input from B&B and some of the actors from the movie. There are both ABBA and Mamma Mia! clips played here. I must say, I got chills from hearing Amanda Seyfried's bit of 'Lay All Your Love on Me' and I literally had tears in my eyes after listening to about 3 seconds of Meryl Streep singing 'The Winner Takes it All". Truly spectacular, there's no way else to describe it!

Thank you Samy. I like these recordings a lot, the backing-tracks are very similar to the original and for the first time I heard a "cover" of Gimme Gimme Gimme where they got that instrumental piece that has been used in Madonna's Hung Up right.
However I sometimes miss the Swedish-accent English. The songs have a very American (?) accent to my ears which is so different from the English Agnetha and Frida sung.
