It is a nice "little book" with some rare or unpublished photos.
Text is nothing new but for amators of photographs ( not all of them well printed or rightly edited though) it is worth the few pounds.

I've just bought EXACTLY the same thing, don't know what i'll do with the stupid DVD but i've had a quick flick through and there's some great pictures [Some i haven't seen before, and i've seen A LOT lol] and it's great that after A,B,B & A's chapters there's one about Stig
RRP of the book is £6.99 for a book with 127 pages which is great, and i bought it for £4.99 with that DVD included, great buy and even if the text of the book isn't all that great [which i doubt, after reading a few pages it looks good] then i think that price is worth it for the Pictures alone!

Hey Debbie,
I think it's a great little book with some great pictures. Of course it's generally information we've read before but i think it's a great little thing for the price. I don't think postage will be TOO much will it? It's not all that heavy & wide. If you want everything from ABBA = then get it. Postage is too much = Don't bother, nothing major rare or anything :)

There is hardly nothing in the Book section concerning ABBA So I'll guess I'll have to either get them to order it or order myself, I'll work out what is the cheapest.

Toni - 10.01.2008, 20:01
Today it was in my post. :D
It´s a very nice little book. I only have read yet the first two chapters, but my first impression is good. Of course I already know all the facts, but it´s always nice to read the story of ABBA again. :) The great pics are of all four ABBA stars, not focused on one favorite member of the author, that´s a good sign. There are a few mistakes, that´s right, but I don´t care so much about them.
The chapters of the book are:
Introduction (the compact story of ABBA)
Formation
Fame and the Eurovision Song Contest
Benny Andersson
Björn Ulvaeus
Agnetha Fältskog
Anni-Frid Lyngstad
Stig Anderson
The ABBA name
The Music - Albums and Singles
The Money
The Music lives on - ABBA Revival
Björn Again - a tribute
Mamma Mia! The stage show
The book is not a must, but as it is not very expensive, I think I would have bought it in the store, if I had not won it. :wink1:

I got the book today and it is not as little as I had expected... lol!
It has a hard cover and a dust cover. It includes indeed some lesser known pics. The coverpic alone is already nice and it is also great to see a pic of Olivia Newton John on stage in Brighton. The pic posted by Bonnie on her blog once is here as well: ABBA holding hands while running back on stage after a 1979 concert. Love that pic because they look so content and happy.
I have not read anything so far but I already feel that the attention given to Mamma Mia and Bjorn Again is far too much for my liking! I do not think writer Claire Welch is an expert so I do not expect to read anything I do not already know... lol!

Yes, but many pictures (including the one you have mentioned) are printed across both pages which makes them very difficult if not almost impossible to enjoy. :-(
A book for newbies (or collectors who have to buy everything).

I agree, Joe! The layout of most of the photos ruins the book for me. There's one where you can hardly see Agnetha at all because her face is buried in the crack of the pages. AWFUL!!

Ok I did not read the complete book but there are already so many mistakes and odd things to mention about it.
The pictures:
* no pics of ABBA in the 80's but many many from 74 and 78.
* the most recent pic of Agnetha is one from Raskenstam in 1982 while there are loads of very recent pics of Frida, Bjorn and Benny.
* there is one pic that says that it is Benny and his wife while it is sooo not!
* there are also over 10 huuuuge pics of Bjorn Again and Mamma Mia.
The text:
* ABBA found fame with songs like Crazy World, Elanie, You Owe Me One and Happy Hawaii. The list is just a list of b-sides!
* the Thank You For The Music box includes songs such as King Kong Song, Man In The Middle and Hey Hey Helen.
* Agnetha is born on 4 May 1950!!!
* Frida's mother died after Frida and het grandmother had moved to Sweden.
* Agnetha's former boyfriend Dieter Zimmerman was a legendary songwriter.
I am sure there are more mistakes but I stop every time when I read one and wonder why I am reading this little book in the first place.

I always thought Frida and her grandmother left for Sweden after Frida's mother passed away which would make much more sense. So grandmother and Frida left Synni behind in Norway... odd!
Well at least the Little Book author read BLDS better than I did (or more recent), haha! At least page 47!

Oh.. I don't like the fact that pictures are spread on two pages.. And I remember that hand-in-hand concert 79 picture on The Scrapbook! That is a great one!
Now, should I get that one or not? I am in two minds.. :P
Apropos Frida's mother. The plan was that Agny (spelling..) and Frida should go to Sweden and Synni to follow them later. She did and soon after had a kidney failure. Unfortunately the doctor said he could do nothing.

Hi Ivana,
if you have to pay a lot for shipment, don´t order it. As said before, it´s not a book that ABBA experts need, and there are indeed some needless mistakes. Maybe someone should write to Claire Welch the mistakes, so she can correct them for later editions.
If you see it in in a store somewhere, you can do nothing wrong, if you buy it, because it´s not expensive. It´s just a souvenier, nothing more.
Yesterday was a boring day, so I had nothing else to do, than to count the pics in this book.
ABBA together: 36 pics
Pics without A,B,B,A (Björn Again, Mamma Mia and others) 16  yes, too many!
Frida: 5
Björn: 5
Agnetha: 3
Björn, Frida & Benny: 3
Björn & Benny: 2
Björn & Agnetha: 2
Frida & Agnetha: 2
Benny: 2
Björn, Frida & Agnetha: 1
Frida & Benny: 1

Haha Toni, you were really bored yesterday!
Thanks for the info. There aren't too many pictures and I really don't need any other pictures but ABBA of course. I won't order it for sure but if I come across it some time I might buy it.
