Questions for the man on bass: Mr Steve Lewinson
Hey Steve, this is Martijn. Maybe u remember me ;)

Hope u allright. Guess you busy with recording the new album, cant wait to hear what you guys have come up with this time. Hope you find this board and you can answer some burning question i got for you!!

I remember you telling me that u started out with playing reggae. Have you ever played in a reggae band, and what did u think of it?

Also i would love to know how it all came about for you. How did you get your big break which ended up with playing with bands like: The Eurythmics, Kylie Minogue and ever Jimmy Cliff. Could u tell something about this?

And this is the last question. I really like the Izit album you played on. I see that where 2 different bassist on that album. Maybe you could shed some light on which tracks you played on?

Hope you got the time and the will to answer me.

    Hi Steve.

Question for you. Who has been your biggest musical influence, outside of SR and why? There may be more than one, so I'm happy for you to talk on more than one.

    Many thanks

    Pat

Thanks for the bump, Pat. :D

Alright...I was refraining from doing this, being the Mod and my loyalties already being painfully clear to everyone--thought it might be a bit cheeky... :devil...but today's mail brought more delight, and yet ANOTHER question...the list is getting out of hand now. So I'll fire some off. Worst that can happen is they'll float around cyberspace unanswered. 8)

Hello Steve...welcome to our little corner of the Web if you've stopped in, glad you're here. Was wondering the following...

--Of all the work you've done so far, what are you the most proud of?
--What music are you currently listening to?
--Which aspect of music do you enjoy the most--composing, performing, producing, or other?
--What's your opinion of remixes of your work? What do you think of remixes in general?
--What was the first album or single you ever owned? (Thought of this one as I was thoroughly enjoying Culture Club's 'Colour By Numbers' album a while back, which was my first, and it stuns me that I still love it so much after all these years. Got it the year it came out, I was only 8... :D )

...and a few inspired directly by your work:
--Why did you switch up basses between gigs on the tour? Was it to even out the play wear, or were you going for a different tone? (The set list at the two shows I saw were identical...)
--In the liner notes to Amy Studt's album, she thanks you and Pete for the stories of your school years. Would you be willing to share one or two with us?
--Same album--was Ian playing acoustic or electric guitar?
--For the Eurythmics Peacetour, all proceeds for the tour went to Amnesty International and Greenpeace--are you still involved with either of these organizations? (Killer DVD, by the way, you and Pete looked like you were having the time of your lives. Especially during 'I Need A Man'. :top)
--Did you play on any of Tackhead's studio stuff or just help them out live?
--Just got Tony Remy's 'Metamorfollow-G' today...LOVE IT!! Tijn and I were having a debate--which of your basses were you playing in 'Jah Beans'? Lists you as playing acoustic, but to our ears, it doesn't sound like your Guild or like your vintage upright...was it your Clevinger? Or are we just warped? *laughs*

Alright, that's enough to go on...have a ton more, but will wait to see what happens with these first. Unless you care to do a follow-up on the answer to that guilty pleasures question...*giggle*

Sorry. Had to get SOME cheek in there, or I just wouldn't be me. Jam on!! Thanks in advance if you manage to find your way here. And feel free to stay a while, you're among friends. :-D

Sort of leaves my pathetic question for dead Shannon.

However, I'm sure you have had some time to think about your questions for Steve.

I'll grant you this small indulgence. :top

    Cheers

    Pat

Your question is neither pathetic, nor dead, Pat. I'm sure he'd love to share his thoughts on what you asked if/when he gets here. Sorry for making you feel kinda run over though... Yeah, some of these questions have been stewing for months... :D

    *hangs head in shame*

Bad mod. Time for humility...will put in EXTRA practice time tomorrow.

    *BUMP*

Just had my instinct push me to give this one a nudge...don't know why...

...but it's the same instinct that always seemed to pay off on the old boards. :D

Who knows, maybe we'll get a few more questions added to the list...
