The only thing I know about them is that they sang Bang-a-boomerang in Swedish in 'Melodifestivalen'. :P

They also "loaned" "He is your brother" and "Dance (while the music still goes on)". On top of that, they got the chance to record the Björn and Benny song "Funky Feet". Abba didn't record that song, because they thought it was too similar to "Dancing Queen".
I believe that B & B also produced the Svenne & Lotta album "Letters", but I'm not 100% sure of that. "Funky Feet" is also on this album.
Wasn't "Bang-a-boomerang" (svensk/swedish version called "Bang-en-Boomerang") a 1975 Eurovision contender that didn't get through the swedish preselection "Schlagerfestivalen"? I've read somewhere that, since the song wouldn't be performed on Eurovision and thus only had a small chance of becoming a hit, Abba decided to record the song too for their eponymous 1975 "Abba" album (third album). Abba must have known that it was a strong track. After all, they produced a video for it.

Yeah, the history to that song is really a bit confusing.
At first it was recorded by ABBA with the title "Stop And Listen To Your Heart" (there must be a full version somewhere in the vaults).
Then the grouo reworked the song and Stig Anderson wrote a new set of lyrics for it, the whole thing was called "Bang-A-Boomerang" then and recorded by the group in September 1974.
It was then however decided to give the song to Svenne and Lotta since Benny and Björn were not happy with the "ABBA-recording".
Svenne and Lotta then recorded both an English and a Swedish version of that song in January 1975.
For unkown resons Benny and Björn suddenly though this song might work for ABBA anyway and so the group recorded the whole thing again later on using a very similar backing-track.

I like Bang en boomerang and Funky Feet a lot. Funky Feet is very catchy and would have worked out great as an ABBA song, too. :)

Thanks for that, Toni. I didn't know Sven and Lotta were members of the Hep Stars.

The Hep Stars were regarded as the swedish Beatles. And some considered Lotta as Svenne's "Yoko Ono"...Yoko Ono was John Lennons girlfriend/wife and some believed that she was the cause of the break-up of the Beatles. I don't know exactly why, but this is the story that's going around.
Oooooooooh, gossip, yummy! :-)

Sven Hedlund was the lead singer of the Hep Stars. Lotta joined the band in the late 60s when she got involved with Svenne. During their time with Hep Stars, both sang on a number of songs written by Benny (and Björn).
Björn and Benny produced a lot of their output in the 1970s. You can check Elmar's excellent site for their discography: http://www.zone.ee/abba6/index.html
As you can see they recorded a great number of Björn and Benny songs.

I just thought I'd say that I was pleasantly surprised by the album Oldies but Goodies by Svenne and Lotta, when I played it this summer. It is an album of covers and produced by Benny, like Frida's Ensam. I didn't expect much as I had heard their album Letters, which is not produced by Benny. Obviously the production has a lot to say.
