The Album in the world's chats list
Please let us list the informations of the position for
The Album in the world's charts list.
Let us all know.
In Norway they don't have any charts position for the
new THE ALBUM yet. Let us hope that ABBA make it in charts
with this one.

It would be nice to see the release chart. But I don't think it will.
Mind you I was wrong about Number Ones and it spent 7 weeks at number 1 here over Christmas last year.
Here's hoping

'The Album', is unlikely to Chart anywhere - except
in Estonia - as Estonia loves ABBA, but never bought their
Albums when they were together, as it was part of the
USSR, & people were too poor to buy many Albums.
However, less than 1,400,000 people live in Estionia, so
'The Album', will only sell a few thousand - but, it will Chart.
Everywhere else will likely ignore it though. It may do quite
well in the Swedish Catalogue Album Chart - but, again, on
quite low Sales.
It will not Chart in the UK.
People would rather like something 100% new by ABBA,
but it never - ever - happens - as regards their Music.

the album could chart. but not here in canada, i know that. like we didn't even get the arrival's new cd. so yeah, getting the album cd, is highly doubtful. so charting here, nope. it could just be saskatchewan and manitoba, but yeah couldn't find the new arrival cd anywhere. oh well..

I have just checked how the Deluxe Edition
of 'Arrival' did in various Countries. I do not
know if it reached the Swedish Catalogue Album
Chart, but it certainly did NOT get into their main
Top 100 Album Chart.
The ONLY Album Charts where it was a 2006
Hit were:,
1) Estonia - not sure where it reached in their Top
100 - but, everything by ABBA Charts there.
2) The Netherlands - No.87 in their Top 100.
3) The UK - No.197 in our Top 200 - but only the
Top 75 counts in the UK, & only a Top 100 can be
easily looked at - you have to subscribe to 'ChartsPlus'
- an expensive Magazine - to see the Top 200.
The Deluxe 'Arrival' entered at No.197, in the Chart
of the Week Ending 28th October 2006. It sold about
2,000 copies, to do that. Then it dropped off the Top
200 - never to return. I am told that it has sold about
3,500 copies, since it came out in the UK, a Year ago.
Bear in mind that over 60 Million people live in the
UK.....
Since 1994, 'Arrival' has sold 74,000 in the UK, but
several old Beatles Albums have sold 500,000 to 700,000
UK copies in that time. ABBA are seen as a Singles
Act by many people, & it is very hard to sell their
old Studio Albums. It was fine when they were together,
as they had the means to attract people to those Albums
- they released Singles off them. But, that does not happen
anymore, so the Albums are just put out again - to sink
or swim - and they usually sink!
Believe me, The Album' (2007 Edition), is NOT going
to Chart in many Countries. 'Arrival' was always seen as
a better ABBA Album, by most people, & if that did not
do well, in 2006, why should 'The Album', do better in
2007?
As usual, Estonia, is enthusiastic - the Deluxe 'The Album'
entered at No.21 there, & it has just jumped from 21 to
No.6. It will not come close to doing as well as that, in any
other Country.

Chart positions
Nice to see that Abba are doing well in Estonia !
I agree that it is unlikely that the Deluxe version of 'The Album' will do well chart-wise in many of the world's major record-buying countries, but I think Universal will see that as a given.
If 'Arrival Deluxe' sold 2,000 copies in the UK in the first week, 'The Album' will probably do the same, and probably get to number 197 again. Mind you, some people may have imported it already (I haven't).
I look forward to November 5th when we see it in the UK shops.
That' ChartPlus' magazine sounds expensive, but I hope that someone can let us now if it does chart in any way..... A nice advert might help, but I doubt it will happen.
If the 'Mamma Mia' film goes massive next year, I guess we'll get another 'Greatest Hits' package - and the record company will save its advertisements for that :-(

I agree!
Chart or not.....it will be noticed by ABBA fans and non-ABBA fans...as the album will be in stores for everyone to see! It will be a succcess in it's own right! :P Plus, another piece to my collection!
BTW, ABBA GOLD is still on every major retail outlet and record store here in the states...it will never go away!

Abba The Album Deluxe / Abba Gold
As Dave said, it will be good to at least see the 'new' Abba album in the shops...
By the way, my local HMV shop is selling both the British and USA versions of 'Abba Gold' at the moment for some reason - same track-listing although I suspect the USA version still has the shortened versions of 'Voulez-Vous' and 'The Name Of The Game'....
cheers

You can find as I said earlier only a hand full of Gold here now Number Ones
seems to be the one they are still pushing.

Reduced prices for Abba CDs
I've also noticed that the prices for some Abba CDs have come down quite a bit recently in some stores.
My local Woolworths is selling 'Abba Gold' for £6 - whilst the 'Number Ones' single-disc CD is £5 at Virgin.....
Also, the Frida '4xCD 1xDVD' set is on sale at HMV for £47 which is not too bad for 4 great albums and a 3-hour DVD...
cheers
