Wondering if anyone else has given any thought to what you consider to be a "best vocal" and a "favourite vocal" and are they the same? Can you separate your head from your heart??

I was thinking of Dancing Queen for the best both vocal, but then changed my mind and chose Summer Night City as it is in my top five ABBA songs and it is such a brilliant song. It was difficult to just pick one song for each, but I couldn't choose between WAISAD and TV for favourite Frida vocal as they are my two favourite ABBA songs 8).

I am a little baffled by the choice of Knowing me knowing you as the best vocal. Frida practically sings like four lines in the full song, and they are almost all the same. :shock: So I wouldn't mind an explanation as to why one considers it her best vocal.

Favourite vocal is a different thing, though.

Ooh, I love a thinky one! Trying very hard to think about the vocal performance itself rather than the song. Here goes:

Fave: As Good As New (I love it when she gets down and dirrrty)

Frida
Best: When All Is Said And Done
Fave: Money Money Money (mainly for the bridges... she uses that throaty 'live' voice you rarely hear on Abba's studio recordings. I also love how she almost purrs the verses)

Joint
Best: Eagle
Fave: Angeleyes (I know it's kind of cheating with so many vocal tracks running through the whole thing, but I love that you can hear each of them singing in both high and low registers, consequently in harmony with themselves as well as with each other)

It would have to have completely different lyrics for a female vocalist. It's wrongly considered OK for a lad to be out underage but not a girl, even more so in those days.

Laura - basically I have always loved the "Beach Boys" feel to O&O&O, & especially the falsetto, and it has been mentioned that it was Benny who sang this. In a few books (the one I remember is Chris Patrick's "ABBA Let The Music Speak" but there are others as well). Gill

Haven't posted any choices until now, becasue I had to sort it out for myself first. It's not easy telling the "best" from the "favourite", sometimes.
