ABBAsite still a mess
Even though they put up the article ABBA Gold - A success story, they took down the music subsection.
Now there's neither music nor lyrics on the website. What's wrong with them :x

To be honest I've thought for many years that the official site is a complete waste of time. It totally lacks content, it's hardly ever updated and the layout is static and boring. It would be the ideal place for exclusive content such as unpublished photos, a place to create your own mixes of songs etc. It should be a stimulating place to visit and yet it's the exact opposite.
The second biggest selling group of all time yet their official website is a washout!

Guys, the problem is, it hasn't always been like this!
A few years ago, we had lyrics to every song, information and artwork for each single and album, high-quality wallpapers and other kinds of multimedia.
I don't know why they're trying to reduce it to bare bones.

I agree with you I don't like this new site. Do you remember the blue headline? It was the best, you can find everything easily and it was full of informations and other things. It was the year when I won MM quiz on it. :D

the question is, who is interested in such things? i couldnt care less for lyrics to every song and wallpapers....u can find lyrics on YT and other sites, selfmade wallpapers from fans in much better quality and so on

Yes, googling the title of any song will come up with about 20 sites where the lyrics can be found (even backing vocals) so not really sure they're needed on the official site. I rarely, if ever, go on there. If it disappeared altogether, I wouldn't miss it!

I'm super anal when it comes to having things official.
Having official lyrics is absolutely essential to me as a fan. Often times I've seen different sites reporting lyrics differently -- the only way to know the real lyric is to see the official source, ABBAsite.
As for wallpapers -- ABBAsite had the best selection of official album cover wallpapers in all dimensions. Fanmades look... fanmade. These were legit ABBA album covers in all their glory, HQ of course.
The Beatles have their full discography online, so do Queen, Eagles, lots of big bands, Madonna. Why not ABBA?

None of those acts are with Universal though are they? Queen are now (having moved from EMI) but licensed from their own company, so Universal won't have involvement. Perhaps Universal don't see the need for proper websites for their acts?

Indeed, most sites have many incorrect lyrics. Most of them are copied from fan sites in the early days of the net. It was one of the few sites to have correct lyrics.

Like vancho, I miss the old ABBAsite. It was a trustful source, but I've always missed a (always refreshed) news session!

A while back someone on here quoted a lyric from "Under Attack" and it looked wrong to me. I did a google search for the lyrics and it came up as the forum member wrote, but then I looked at a different site and it was how I've always known it. So you are so right! They should put them back online.

I think ABBA Omnibus has the correct lyrics up on their site.
