Ahh, well how blunt of him, I have to say though its kind off a relief, some days I think that they will just drop everything and reform. can you imagine!? But speculation in the press will continue for many years, there's always at least one reform rumour a year. Nothing any ABBA member says will change it. the British press will hear what they want to hear and will continue to do so.

I know it would be so wrong but a reunion for me would be :blob1: :blob1: :blob1: :blob1: :blob1: :blob1: age is nothing but a number, you are as young as you feel!

^ Yes. You may indeed feel young, but there's only so much you can do about trying to look like a 30 year old when you're actually over 60.

Well, a concert for me would be the four of them in an "Unplugged" ensue situation like Dick Cavett but even smaller. Certainly no dancing around in skin tight leotards

One thing is for sure about that quote - it won't stop them being asked the question everytime one of them raises their head above the parapet. Gill

I think stories get merged over time but it doesn't help their cause when Benny said he will reform ABBA to do a concert due to the building work objections in Stockholm and then the group helping with the houses in the African village. It sort of keeps the reforming stories alive.
The Beach Boys have a new single being played on Radio 2 so who knows.
Benny make take notice.

I've heard the Beach Boys Single. The harmonies in it, are as
good as those that they were doing in 1966.
I'd rather have new recordings from ABBA than a Tour. A Tour would just
be then singing the same old Songs - and not as well, as it would be 'Live'.
But, their age does not matter when it comes to Studio Recordings.
And they'd need not even have to appear in the Video - modern
technology can create a Video for them.
However, they are not coming back, & that is that. We have to accept it.

Well, it's not Björn or any of the other ABBA members who brings this up again and again! :?

I know it Joe, I know it perfectly well, it´s just the way those words make me feel...I use to express myself all the time just exactly the way I feel.

Maybe, but Björn isn't the one to blame for the many times he has to repeat it and your statement does exactly this.

Slightly related: By the time John Lennon died in 1981, The Beatles had ceased existing, as a group, for eleven years already. Were the former Beatles constantly asked the same question (i.e., whether they'd reform) right until Lennon's death? I wouldn't be surprised. Eleven years is nothing compared to 30. Does anybody here know if the former Beatle-guys were repeatedly asked this same question for 11 years?

It's for the best. It doesn't mean they'll never get together as four people again, a chat/interview, maybe. A picture of all four of them together again would be fantastic- in fact, that's all I really hope for. New music or even singing a few of their old ones seems unrealistic. But as for reuniting as 'ABBA'- nah, of course not. I completely 'get' him.

The Beatles were offered then record amounts of money for one-off concerts or tours right through the 70s (until December 1980). They were repeatedly asked about reuniting right up until George Harrison's death in 2001 - despite the "Threetles" reunion for The Beatles Anthology in the 90s. And it continues - there was talk of staging a "Beatles reunion" of Paul and Ringo for the London Olympics! Though Ringo said no, he'd be on tour in America, and so he should.

I also remember the constant talk of Beatles reunions right up until Lennon's death, and, in truth, I believe it can only enhance a band's 'legend' and mythical status if they don't reform.
A good example would be Blondie - what good has their reunion done for them?- their albums aren't even charting anymore, whereas during their absence they were dearly missed.
I longed for an Abba reunion until circa 1986 and then I realised, perhaps prophetically, that it would only do them incalculable harm if they did get back together. Ever since then, I've been happy to watch their legend grow. They have made the right choice, and the public, even their critics, respect them for that.

I am sick of the same question (the same as ABBA members) and sick of the same answer (the same as ABBA fans) that´s all. Dont´be so serious and so dramatic, " Take it easy" Frida says....
For the other hand, being sick doesn´t mean I don´t respect their decision, I respect it, it´s a brave decision, even when I would love to see them together again, I dream about a reunion, but as someone said once: "a reunion??...for what? they are a legend don´t need to get together" a cold, but realistic point of view.

You make a good point but I disagree slightly.. (mind you, I'm confused about how many times they've split/reformed), Blondie released the fantastic 'Maria' once they'd reformed and some other good music, too- Nothing Is Real (But The Girl) and Good Boys. Also, Blondie were (are?) a live band, a touring band... ABBA never really were.

I'm not disputing that Blondie have made some good music since the reunion, Joe, and I know they are a great live band, but the notion of a Blondie album not even charting (and them having trouble even getting a company to release it!) just would have been unthinkable during their heydey. I'd hate Abba to be suffering such indignity!

Thanks for the Beatles info, guys. If they were all still alive now, I'm sure they'd continue to receive offers (in the billions) to reform.
I agree with Dorrico about the indignity of it all. These things make formerly great and hugely popular artists (like Blondie) now seem unimportant and devalues their legacy. It's cheapened.
I'm glad that ABBA chose to freeze their picture, thus saving it from the funny tricks of time.

^^Oh, I see.. or do I? Is that what is happening with Blondie, then? Still releasing stuff but not charting? I don't really keep an eye on the charts and stumble across new music by accident usually, or a friend recommends something.. of course I don't think anyone in their right mind would want ABBA to release something and have it not sell/have an impact- that would be totally, 'like', cringe, 'like' awkward!
Thank God it'll never happen.

It is too late now. The best time for ABBA to reunite would have been in 1992/3 after the release of GOLD. Their music was suddenly incredibly popular again and I guess at that point people would have accepted a new ABBA-record. Plus, the members were just ten years older than they were o 1982 when the group ceased to exist. But somehow nobody seemed to be interested in such a reunion back then, Agnetha probably being the one who was least interested in doing that.
1999 was another year where ABBA could have returned, with the release of Mamma Mia, the ABBA-revival was at another high point. A reunion back then would have taken all the spotlight away from the musical, though, so I see why they didn't do it (most like, though, because they didn't care).
Now, it is too late.
I don't see, however, why they even refuse to do an interview together. That could be fun, not only for us, even for them. Especially since Agnetha seems to be pretty at ease with public appearances these days as long as they are limited to a few every now and then I could see that happening. Nobody would force them to sing although it would be nice to have piano and a guitar around just in case...
