Nothing Beats Nirvana
SEATTLE, Jan. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- The votes are in. The Greatest Rock Band
of all-time is... Nirvana.
During 2005, rock music fans voted in the annual RockinTown.com music
poll. The tally has been taken every year since RockinTown.com, an online
rock music magazine, started in 1999.
With over 5,000 votes counted, Nirvana walked away with just under 35% of
the vote. Led Zeppelin came in second. The Beatles grabbed the #3 spot.
Twenty-seven groups or performers were nominated, including Elvis Presley, the
Beach Boys, Bruce Springsteen, R.E.M. and Pearl Jam.
"When we started, The Beatles ruled, then it was U2, now it's Nirvana,"
said RockinTown.com co-founder Ian Lord. "It goes to show how tastes and
perspectives have changed," added Lord. Voting has begun for 2006 with
Nirvana already extending their lead.
Though RockinTown.com is Seattle based, Lord doesn't think local bias had
any effect on the outcome. "People all across North America, Europe and even
Australia voted," said Lord. "Nirvana still has a major hold on the rock
audience."
"Led Zeppelin has never topped the poll but they have always placed in the
Top 5," said Lord. "It's a tribute to their influence and staying power."
The Beatles returned to the Top 3 after a four year absence. "The (Paul)
McCartney tour and the 25th anniversary of (John) Lennon's death probably had
a lot to do with it," added Lord, a former rock musician and radio
personality. "On the other hand, The Rolling Stones had their best album in
decades, 'A Bigger Bang,' but the best they could do was 11th."
Any surprises? "Green Day should have done better," said Lord.
"'American Idiot' was a brilliant album. Maybe they need a get-out-the-vote
drive." Green Day barely made the Top 20 coming in at #18.

Coole seite,die Du da angegeben hast!hab mich mal da reingeklinkt und nach einigen Minuten sogar was neues von Kiss erfahren.Und das ASIA und YES unter "Art-Rock" fallen,war mir auch neu!

Nachtrag:Was finden die Leute nur an Nirvana?Ok,es besteht in meinen Augen ein kleiner Zusammenhang zwischen Nirvana und The Doors,am Frontmann,finde ich.Beide haben kein Blatt vor dem Mund genommen aber,würde ich zum Kult werden wenn ich mich erschieße?Nein,wahrscheinlich würde ich statt des Totenscheins über mich noch ne Anzeige wegen unerlaubtem Waffenbesitz bekommen.... :D

Das Problem an dem Lied ist;ich habe mal als DJ gearbeitet und mußte das Lied 2 Mal in 8 Stunden spielen,Woche für Woche,auch wenn ich frei hatte und in dem Laden(Musik Circus)war,spielte mein Kollege das Teil :evil:

Nirvana werden als die Erfinder des Grunge gefeiert. Nur, was ist Grunge? Für mich eine unmotivierte Art Rock zu spielen! Was sagte dereinst Kiss-Bassist Gene Simmons: "Grunge ist der Tod des Rock´n Roll den wir kennen und lieben!" Recht hat er!

Und ich find Smells like teen spirit zwar ganz ok, aber überragend nicht gerade.
Ich kann echt net nachvollziehen, was die alle an Nirvana finden...

geht mir ganz genauso Julia...
auch diese ganzen neuen Bands..The Strokes, The Hives..usw. Für mich klingen die alle irgendwie gleich und unkreativ... meistens nur laut, das scheint das hauptziel zu sein :?

Jupp, es muss schon klingen, unkreatives Rumgeschräddere ist scheiße. Mann, Led Zeppelin oder Deep Purple waren auch hart und haben nicht nur rumgeschräddert, die kannten sowas wie "Melodie" und jetzt kommts "Gitarrenriffs". :shock: :lol: :wink:
Wen ich ja auch voll schlimm finde ist "Bullet for my valentine". Ist zwar vom Geschräddere her noch nicht soooo schlimm, aber ich find die dumm, von der Musik her, ist mir viel zu... dunkel irgendwie...

Das ist zwar ein bischen off topic..aber, wenn ich grad sehe, dass du Deep Purple auch so gut findest: Deep Purple spielt ja am Freitag hier in der Nähe, in Bad Brückenau...Hast du Karten?
