Promotion German singles
Taken from the "Your favourite Agnetha pic" thread, as I think it deserves a thread of it's own.

I would love to see alternate pics of her German sleeve, I mean they must have taken more than one pic! But where are those pics?
Re: Promotion German singles

This was a German ad for the single.

Although I was around during her German career, I can't remember to ever have heard of her before ABBA and Brighton 74. It was only in 1977 when I discovered her German past.

Here is another one – but with the same picture as on the sleeve.

I think the ads were targeted at retailers only.

Many thanks for the rare ads - many of us are trying to get the early singles but it's great to hear some of the background.

In 1969 Agnetha made it onto the backside of the German trade journal "Schallplatte" – similar to the British "record mirror". Once the mag was auctioned on eBay but I wasn't lucky. The only thing I secured is this little picture.

Wow! Thanks again.
Good to see she was promoted a bit, even if she wasn't lucky with the songs.

More promotion:
According to ABBAontv Agnetha appeared on Drehscheibe in 1968 and sing Das Fest Der Pompadour.
http://www.abbaontv.com/1969%20and%20before/description-agnetha-drehscheibe.html
But Das Fest der Pompadour was only released as a single in 1969 so I don't know. My thought is that she recorded all her German songs (not the 1972 one) quite at the same time.
That would explain why in 1970 while she was not anymore with Dieter and already with Björn some single were still released in Germany Fragezeichen mag ich nicht and that kleiner mann... With some songs writen by Dieter so I guessed she recorded all that stuff around the same time. I can't imagine her going to the studio and record Wie der Nächste Autobus and work on Som Jag är with Björn.
And she also appeared in Gala-Abend der Schallplatte 1969
She performed Concert D'amore
http://www.abbaontv.com/1969%20and%20before/description-agnetha-in-germany.html
Sadly here is the only pics we have.

Lidingö, which picture is reversed? And how do you know it is?
@ Ben5450: I mean the cover up here "Robinson Crusoe" and every really fan must recognize that it is reversed and YOU have fallen through the test but I'll tell you . . . you can see it at her teeth 8)
Please use the "Zitat"-button for proper quoting or at least use italic letters for what you are quoting. Joe (mod team)

Hey Sean, it was her highest chart position single, Senor Gonzales/mein schönster Tag. And I like the B-side.
It reached number 30

That's why de första åren is a gem, there's so many infos on the booklet. Once I back in France I may scan it and post it here, it's quite interesting :D

Presumably the song would have been an even bigger hit if it hadn't been for Manuela. She was a very popular German schlager-singer who released the same song at the same time. As a result neither Agnetha nor Manuela reached the German top ten.

Just kidding but it's nice to have someone who knows and even had some pics of her during her German career so thanks.

By the way, almost the same happened to Agnetha with "Geh mit Gott". This time it was Renate Kern who released the same song.

I agree! Thank you so much, Gogo! I absolutely love promotional items and especially print ads. Do you know if those ads would have come from other schallplatte magazines?
Re: Promotion German singles
gogo - 13.05.2012, 19:31
Yes, it's true, I know quite a lot about ABBA. From the moment they entered the Eurovision-stage I've been following them and have done a lot of research as well. Sometimes it frightens me: I see a pic and know almost always when and where it was taken. I find that weird myself, so much superfluous knowledge ... But if someone's interested I am, of course, happy to share it.
As for Agnetha's German schlager-career, however, that's difficult. Much of what she's done seems to have vanished from the archives, just like the original tapes of her songs. And even die-hard schlager-fans who were around at the time cannot remember Agnetha singing German schlagers. So, I can only guess that the print-ads were published in trade-magazines. But my investigastions are still going on ...

OMG look at the photo :blob1: :agnetha: :dead:
It seems she is in the same place than the Senor Gonzales pic sleeve.
And I just noticed that now, she is wearing the same outfit for Senor Gonzales sleeve and for Hjärtats Kronprins sleeve.
Thanks a lot gogo (what's your name?) for sharing that with us.

I have enjoyed reading this thread very much. Of course I know a little about Agnetha's German career, but not a great amount, I know that she recorded singles and albums etc that were released and had moderate success. What amazes me, is that there are 'new pictures and articles' to my eyes from that perioid, that I am able to view and read with freshness, it is very interesting and as a fan, it adds something new to the trivia aspect I find fascinating after all these years.
Thanks to all who have contributed to this thread! Very informative and I have enjoyed reading/viewing.
