this area is for talking about anything. whether its aviation related or not.
your link is pefect for here.
i think that most people in the UK who are interested in WW2 are aware of this boat. i remember the publicity when she went to Liverpool. i didnt know that she was under threat though. thanks for the heads up.
i urge anybody reading this to sign the petition.
it would be a crime to destroy this piece of history. it played an important part in the Atlantic war and should be protected.

I forwarded it to Ken in the States who signed at once. He will also give it to his submarine friends from the time he was in the U.S. Navy !

During a vacation in Denmark I just spotted this huge rusty thing sitting on some industrial park. I was shocked to see it's size !
Later I saw a documentary about it's recovery in which also the Royal Neth. Navy participated to unarm the very live torpedoes on board...

Signed both petitions. After watching 'Das Boot' it makes you realise how tough a life those U-boat blokes had. Even tougher for the Merchant Marine sailors from all nations, who suffered terrible losses and hardships.
The U-boat should be preserved complete as a memorial to all in the 'Battle Of The Atlantic' Lest we forget, I say :sad:
