    Aircraft tank with wing shape
Here’s today an allied tank I never was able to identify. Its former owner is not sure at all that this one among several others he had in the past as water tank, was really coming from a crashed aircraft. Some of them may have been from declassed army stocks.
The two closest lost bombers are a Wellington (July 1941) and a B-24 (April 43).
The tank was covered with this black paste that could prevent small leakeages, and a green canvas with a few markings around it, as “Flame Proof” or “slang on white bands”. But the “ACFT” case is unfortunately empty…
    Size in meters, without cover is 1,30 x 1,30 x 0,37

Those markings I found on a part that fell from the tank didn’t help me to find any USAAF or RAF prefix among all those I today know that may fit.
Thanks in advance to have a look.
    Best to all

Looks like from US aircraft (type of letter).
See also the fuel tanks I have recovered from Wellington crash site.

If you check the tank and flange, you should found a lot of part numbers and round stamps, this helps to identify.

Thanks a lot for the answer and these tank pictures. Certainly not the same at all. I unfortunately never was able to find any other particular marking on "my" tank, apart those whose pictures I enclosed.

I'll post again if I ever find any !

    Best regards
