Dancing Queen is Top Tune
Quote: Dancing Queen by Abba has been voted the best party tune ever.
The 1976 hit is followed by Dexy's Midnight Runners' Come on Eileen, while Queen's 1979 hit, Don't Stop Me Now, is No 3 in the all-time chart.
They were the top picks of 4,000 Britons polled by drinks maker Orangina.
A spokesman said: "Dancing Queen is guaranteed to get everyone up dancing as soon as they hear the first notes."
The Top 10 party tunes were:
1. Dancing Queen (Abba)
2. Come On Eileen (Dexy's Midnight Runners)
3. Don't Stop Me Now (Queen)
4. Amarillo (Tony Christie)
5. Love Shack (B52s)
6. Build Me Up Buttercup (The Foundations)
7. Wake Me Up (Before You Go Go) (Wham!)
8. Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (Cyndi Lauper)
9. I'm a Believer (The Monkees)
10. You're the One That I Want (John Travolta and Olivia Newton John).

What's the source of this (I asked that in your other post, too.)
Why does drink maker Orangina care about music??
Maybe they hope to cater the dance...
:)

That spokesman is right - I love DQ. :eyebrows: No wonder it is ranked as the number one in this list - it is absolutely incredible how people can get under such a musical spell. The catchy piano intro is enough for me for humming it all day long.

Wonderful is not the word that comes to my mind.
ABBA between one hit wonders Dexy's Midnight Runners and terrible songs by Toni Christie and Wham!
The only other legendary and great song is You're The One That I Want and the rest is pretty average and kinda crappy in my opinion. No need for the ABBA's to be proud to be on this list.

LOL Let's hope there's a huge gap between DQ and the rest then (though I do like some of the rest...).

Omigod! I dislike most of the tunes in the list with a passion so I have to say I'm not happy that ABBA are included in such a list! :x
'Come On Eileen' HAS to be one of the most irritating songs of all time and makes me wanna :puke: every time I hear it and most of the rest aren't much better. Cyndi Lauper's GJWHF is a possible exception. Love the B52's, also.

"Come On Eileen" is one of my all time favorite songs. It´s a true pop classic.

Build Me Up Buttercup and You're The One That I Want are good songs, too.

Wham was huge around the world and its a shame they split up when they did. The Spice Girls are not a patch on them.
