A belated Happy Birthday from me also Samy! :D

Not sure why I missed it ... maybe it was the Welsh topic title that threw me. :? :lol:

Welsh is not one of the languages I'm familiar with. It looks difficult. I never would have guessed that pronunciation. :lol: Is it a Gallic language?

Here's a little piece from wikipedia;

Quote: Welsh (Cymraeg or y Gymraeg, pronounced [kəmˈrɑːɨɡ], [ə ɡəmˈrɑːɨɡ]), is a member of the Brythonic branch of Celtic spoken natively in Wales (Cymru), in England by some along the Welsh border and in the Welsh immigrant colony in the Chubut Valley in Argentine Patagonia.

There are also speakers of Welsh throughout the world, most notably in the rest of Great Britain, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Due to the increasing use of the English language the numbers of Welsh speakers had been declining for decades. However, following a number of measures, including the introduction of the Welsh Language Act 1993, Welsh has enjoyed a strong revival in recent years and has an equal status with English in the public sector in Wales. It competes with Breton (a close relative spoken in France) as the most-spoken Celtic language.

Welsh is compulsory in schools here up to the age of 16 and I personally find the language quite easy, especially to speak one you know how to pronounce letters such as LL, FF, CH etc, but many of my friends find it hard too hehe. However, languages is my strong point so maybe thats why :P

Thanks for the wishes everyone =]

And thanks for the pronunciation Gill and Samy! :)
kitty-cat - 14.09.2007, 23:34

Thats ok, but Samy is from South Wales and I'm from North Wales and there is a difference in pronounciations, and its noticeable to me reading his and mine :D
