MADONNA AND STING 'TO DUET AT DAZZLING LIVE 8 FINALE'
Pop superstar MADONNA and STING will reportedly provide a dazzling finale to the star-studded LIVE 8 charity concert - by performing an historic cover of JOHN LENNON's poignant classic IMAGINE.
The MATERIAL GIRL reportedly consulted her Rabbi advisor MICHAEL BERG before agreeing to take part in the ground-breaking gig, which aims to persuade politicians to cancel Third World debt, double the aid budget and rewrite global trade laws so developing countries can protect their economies.
And she has now agreed to perform the moving duet with the former POLICE star, who played at the original 1985 Live Aid, to ensure the concert lives up to its billing as the biggest gig of the decade, reports British newspaper THE SUN.
An insider says, "They have had a discussion about performing a cover version. Madonna sang it on her RE-INVENTION TOUR."
The pair will also perform solo pieces at the event in London's Hyde Park on 2 July (05).

QUEEN TO PERFORM AT LIVE 8 VIA SATELLITE
Legendary British rockers QUEEN will perform at London's LIVE 8 concert thanks to a live satellite link-up.
The WE WILL ROCK YOU legends - who starred in the original LIVE AID extravaganza 20 years ago (85) - are busy performing in Portugal on 2 July (05) when the Hyde Park charity show takes place.
But Queen are so keen to play at the historic event, they are arranging a spectacular satellite connection to join British fans at the star-studded line up.
Live 8 spokesman PHIL SYMES says, "The band are playing an outdoor concert on the same day. They are discussing featuring at Live 8 on a big screen."
BRIAN MAY, ROGER TAYLOR, JOHN DEACON and PAUL RODGERS - the ex-FREE and BAD COMPANY singer who replaced the band's late frontman FREDDIE MERCURY - will 'virtually' perform alongside other A-list celebrities including SIR PAUL McCARTNEY, MARIAH CAREY and SIR ELTON JOHN.

The row comes as Oasis denied today that they are snubbing the concert in Hyde Park on July 2.
The Manchester rockers had initially said they wanted to take part.
But at the time they did not know the concert was planned for July 2 - the same day as they play a major gig at the City of Manchester Stadium.
Upset
Oasis were one of the first bands that organiser Sir Bob Geldof contacted to play at Live 8 and he is reportedly upset that they will not be appearing.
A band source said: "It's ridiculous to talk about a snub. The Manchester stadium gig will be a huge affair and had been planned for months."
Like Oasis, U2 are also double-booked for the concert, but the Irish rockers plan to play in Hyde Park before jetting out to Vienna for another performance the same evening.

Sex Pistols Reunite For Live 8
Sex Pistols Reunite For Live 8 :D :D :D
Punk gods the Sex Pistols are reforming for this coming Live 8 gig, reports Rav Singh of NewsOfTheWorld.co.uk. It's another extraordinary coup for the Geldof team who have already lined up the Pink Floyd and The Who for the Hyde Park concert. And it promises to be one of the highlights of an already phenomenal event.
Live 8 organisers have been in touch with the remaining members of the band for the past fortnight in a bid to get the Seventies legends on the bill. Steve Jones, Paul Cook and Glen Matlock all agreed several days ago and now, after much toing and froing Johnny Rotten has finally rubber stamped the deal. Johnny (real name John Lydon) was considering the offer for most of the week but decided on Friday that he is up for it. "The others said ‘Yes' straight away but Johnny took his time. He knew the rest of the band had given the reunion the green light so in the end he agreed."

Ich habe noch keinen Zeitplan für London gefunden ... lasse mich aber eh lieber überraschen. Aber hier ein Bericht zum Londoner Konzert:
Zitat: SIR Paul McCartney and the Irish rock group U2, dressed in Sgt Pepper costumes, are due to open next weekend’s Live 8 concerts singing “It was 20 years ago today” — a reference to the Live Aid concert of 1985.
The lyrics were the opening line of the Beatles’ Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band concept album.
McCartney will return to the stage in London’s Hyde Park seven hours later to end the show by leading an ensemble rendition of The Long and Winding Road, a rallying call for people to travel to Edinburgh to put pressure on the G8 summit starting four days later.
Sir Bob Geldof, who has organised a series of eight concerts on four continents ahead of the summit at Gleneagles, revealed details of the running order over dinner in Rome last week.
“It will be a surprise for everyone,” said Geldof, not realising his words would be reported by a journalist from La Repubblica, the Italian newspaper, seated at the same table.
“Paul McCartney will end it. He’ll sing The Long and Winding Road, and for us it’s the symbol of this road, the road which will lead us to the G8.”
Yesterday a spokesman for the organisers of Live 8 confirmed the Sgt Pepper-led start to the worldwide show as Geldof appeared on stage at Glastonbury to appeal for support.
It will be the largest global broadcast in television history with 5.5 billion people — 85% of the world’s population — able to tune in through a variety of media, including television, the internet and mobile phones.
“It was 20 years ago that the media said Live Aid was the greatest show on earth. They were right then but wrong now,” said Geldof’s spokesman. “Over 140 television networks will broadcast Live 8.”
Geldof turned down the chance of inviting Michael Jackson to top the bill of the American version of Live 8 less than three weeks after his acquittal on child sex charges. Bono, U2’s singer and Geldof’s ally in the campaign to cancel the debts of Third World countries, was keen on the idea.
But Geldof said: “Musically he (Jackson) is a genius; humanely, I believe he is innocent. But he has been through a terrible time. He’s strained and tired. He needs tranquillity, not to return under the spotlights in an event like this.”
Geldof also revealed that Pink Floyd, reunited with founder member Roger Waters for the first time in more than 20 years, will play three songs: Breathe, Comfortably Numb and Wish You Were Here.
Yesterday Geldof held hands with Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis and persuaded the audience to link arms and chant “Make poverty history”.
Both U2 and Coldplay, Live 8’s other headline act, have other concerts the same evening — U2 in Vienna and Coldplay in Glasgow — which is adding to the logistical problem of staging 25 acts in seven hours at Hyde Park.
Madonna had been rehearsing a duet with Sting, Geldof said, but the planned performance has since been dropped. Instead Sting is believed to be using Spitting Image-style puppets of Tony Blair, George Bush and other world leaders for a rendition of the Police song Every Breath You Take — with the words changed to “We’ll be watching you”.
